Helmet will not accommodate face mask

Recommended Posts

I have a Reebok 11K helmet and a Bauer Concept 3 face mask. The rivets dont align which makes standard screwing impossible. Is using a power drill an option? If I opt to go this route, what is the expected degree of structural damage to the helmet?

I had a Reebok 4K helmet and a concept 3. I flipped the mounting clips and it fit. Have you tried that? I am not sure it is exactly the same as the 11k but i had the same problem initially

That is the common issue with any non-Bauer bucket. I know I tried with my CCM V10 and would have caused damage to both the bubble and helmet so I elected to go with the cage instead. Now, I'm back the Re-Akt/C3 combo.

It seems crazy to me that the spacing on those holes is not uniform across brands. It just makes so much sense....

Cynically I think trying to lock you into using only their products with their helmets, but then it seems dumb because it limits people who don't own a Bauer helmet from buying a Bauer visor. I don't get it.

There's a thread on here somewhere where JR was describing how he had made it work on a non-compatible helmet. You have to do some surgery to the clips, but you can get it to work.

Exactly the fix.

However, do note that in that original thread, the clips are mounted the wrong way.  They should be mounted clip up, hole down.  A Concept 3 should lock up when you flip it up - so when you install it, you are screwing from inside the visor.

This is true - technically it’s the incorrect method, but I did it this way because it was too tight on my chin the other way.  I have had any issues with doing it this way.

I just did this last weekend. The clips had a little seam that made a perfect line to cut on. I used a dremmel with a cutting wheel, took me about a minute and a half.

Okay, so I read through the CCM, Concept thread.

My son wants a Concept 3 on his adult small, IMS 7. Are they designed to work together? Do I need a senior or junior Concept?

Thanks
