gloves

Recommended Posts

i bought eagle x 70s last year and after about a few months the palms would dry out and rip over the summer i got them repalmed by fix it by mail using goatskin. They were great at first but after 2-3 months the palms would get all hard and tehy even started to rip. i was wondering if your palms get hard after using them and if not what gloves you use or how to avoid them getting hard

My palms usually get hard in a few months, so I just toss my gloves after 6 months and get new ones. Because of that I usually don't blow a ton of money on them.

mine get crispy. I have Easton UL's so they're not that expensive but I'm too cheap to just go buy new ones. And only the one seems to get crispy the other is fine. I just run my hand under the sink before I put the glove on so my hand is pretty wet and then put the glove on. If I havent used them for more than a week I put the whole glove under the sink. Makes them heavy though.

After a game or practice, I throw my gloves into the small plastic bags that came with my Graf skates. This way, if I'm not on the ice again for two or three days, they are still moist and loose when I put them back on.

This has to be a joke.

Its really gross but it works. Bacteria probobly grows like hell but if I leave my gloves in my hockey bag zipped up they dont dry out. Makes them stink really bad though.

my first pair of eagles started to do that a little, I used to just take a water bottle before a game and splash a tiny bit of water right over the palm.

It's a good "quick fix" but speeds up the drying out.

yeah, it was pretty much just "keep these gloves playable till my nikes get here"

My dad has some leather moisturizer for his boots. Put it on the palms probably every month or so, keeps them supple and smooth.

No joke, bro. The smell is pretty bad, and it probably isn't the most sanitary thing in the world, but it works well. Never again will I dred the thought of slipping my hands into my gloves after not being on the ice for two or three days...

Am I the only one who prefers the feel of a dry palm/glove over a moist one?? I personally hate the feeling of wetness on my palms. Even if I take them off for a second for some water, putting em back on doesnt feel ducky.

thats just like breeding bacteria and fungus... just sprinkle them with water before you play.

My friend's Eagle Fusions with Goatskin were rock hard, literally, before practice yesterday. Probably because his hands sweat an abnormal amount, but he just got them at the end of the Summer so I didn't think they should be like that yet.

im back from a camp (twice on ice a day) and my palms are starting to get crusty and hard..

Is there anything i can do ?

Is helpful to wash them out in a tube with warm water ?

Doesn't water make them worse? When my Eagle X70 Goatskins got crusty I just put shaving cream on the outside and it felt better after. My Easton Z-air pro stocks have yet to become crusty and I've had them since March, have been used 2-3 times a week and then went through 2 all day camps. They only have the nash palm, but I thought goat was supposed to wear slower and become crusty slower.

My LHS told me after each game/practice to let the glove dry in a cool place like your basement then put them in a air tight bag and put them in your freezer till next use.

it keeps bacteria from growing because of the cold and also keeps the leather of the gloves from drying out.

I've been playing twice a week and doing camp once a week the whoel summer and my palms are still nice and soft

Leaving gloves/equipment in a cool place will no stop bacteria from growing. It will just slow down they're reproduction/movement.
