Adding grip to my M2 shaft went horribly wrong....

Recommended Posts

I did a few searches on the best methods of adding grip to sticks and one of the ones I found was taking about a 6" piece of a broken shaft and wrapping the broken shaft with hockey tape with the sticky side facing up and then you're supposed to rub that all over the shaft you want to add grip to.

Well I did just that, except it left this nasty black residue all over the entire shaft, it looks absolutely horrible. I tried picking it off and whatnot and nothing worked. It's not like gooey or anything, it almost seems like it was absorbed into the shaft or something. The grip is awesome, no doubt about that, but it looks terrible. I usually don't care how my stuff looks, but this is just embarassing, lol.

What's the best way to get the black residue off the shaft?

Here are some pics:

Heh, I guess you didn't read the fine print in those posts ;) . That's the way it was supposed to turn out. Question. Why did you continue to plaster the entire shaft if you didn't like the black residue on there when you initially started?

LOL, I knew someone was going to ask this. I did this at like 2am under really dim light after being up for 20 hours, so I didn't notice it until after the fact.

Like I said, I usually don't care at all how my stuff looks. My white CCM helmet has more black scuff marks and whatnot than my M2 shaft, but the shaft is just embarassing looking, lol.

Also, it's absolutely RUINING my white nash palms, i've got residue all over my palms and can't get it out. Any recommendations?

Anyone have a pic of their stick if they went the plyurethane route?

I used one of those rubber crack sealers on a stick a while ago. Grip wasn't all that great, it smelled awful. Nasty. I used it on a beat to hell jofa woodie, so I didn't really care.
