Westside 232 Report post Posted June 28 I know plenty of guys like the DIY route, but I’ve been using Clear Gear for the better part of a decade and it’s been great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CT3YG79J?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title&th=1 Recently tried Hex because I got a deal on it and it’s good too. I started using their laundry detergent on all my workout gear with positive results https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07ZHQ12ZV?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Buzz_LightBeer 969 Report post Posted June 28 Rock'n Green is a great soak for smelly gear https://rockingreen.com/collections/active-wear-detergent/products/platinum-active-wear-two-pack Gear Halo pods are a must for skates/bag https://www.amazon.com/Gearhalo-Sports-Deodorizer-Pods-Stops/dp/B071XWM1JH/ref=asc_df_B071XWM1JH/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693295483335&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2094030929703982636&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9018838&hvtargid=pla-493626010011&psc=1&mcid=8f4adae2dad133b69a158a6ab12060eb&gad_source=1 These two sprays are good for inbetween skates, one hockey specific, one not https://www.icewarehouse.com/Beeks_Reek_Out_Pro/descpage-RO32.html?_gl=1*5rtjc*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwvvmzBhA2EiwAtHVrb2L3bgDP_LZ3ow8mWLBq3CCkmwQdCjusQQXk8KtiLL49-Qs3skiVtBoCynEQAvD_BwE https://www.seventhgeneration.com/disinfectant-spray-eucalyptus-spearmint-thyme-scent
xstartxtodayx 343 Report post Posted June 28 I'd always go the DIY route of spraying the gear down with a mix of distilled water, rubbing alcohol, and hydrogen peroxide after use, then washing my gear at least once a season (this is honestly the most helpful part lol). I use Sport Wash from Amazon, if you haven't washed your stuff you may need to do an extra wash to get all the funk out, but this stuff is great (I use it on all of my sports gear and tech fabrics since it clears the pores and refreshes the wicking abilities). Avoid any scented washes/sprays and definitely avoid any fabric softeners as they'll just lock in odor and destroy wicking capabilities. Skates I just spray down and helmets are trickier, I usually just soak them in a bucket of the Sport Wash and rinse real well, but depending on the helmet they may never smell good (looking at you CCM 910 with your terrible design that doesn't let moisture or smell out from behind the comfort pads).

bl4 39 Report post Posted June 29 Thanks, all. This is great! Just made a big Amazon order. And, @xstartxtodayx, agree completely about washing gear being the most helpful. Appreciate your tips on approach. In the past, I'd always just gone the conventional detergent route, but will give your method a try
shoot_the_goalie 281 Report post Posted July 4 Hmmm....I just use Lysol spray. Usually the type that has the least amount of scent to it.

marka 526 Report post Posted July 25 Howdy, I just spray mine with 91% isopropyl alcohol, undiluted. Everything but skates. Mark

I go with my own too, mainly because I find most commercial deodorizers are overly scented. I do 50/ 50 water and vinegar, and then add 20 drops or so of Tee Tree oil. It works super well for me and is cheap, effective and not overly strong-smelling.
