Oakley Modified Aviator Question

Recommended Posts

Anyone had problems with this style Oakley Visor? I have used this Oakley visor on the Nike HH 004/Bauer 4000 and it seems to fit very close to my eyes which creates a lot of fogging during games and means I always have to keep a towel on the bench. I have tried the Oakley spray, but doesn't seem to help at all. I think the problem lies in the screw slots on the sides, they aren't cut deep enough to pull the visor all the way forward. I have asked my LHS about this and they were surprised when I showed them my helmet. They said the only thing they can think of is to drill the slots deeper back in the shield to allow more air to flow. Anyone else had this happen with this helmet/visor combo? Thanks.

I have an Itech straight cut and the Itech anti-fog spray. It works amazingly well. I still have yet to experience any fogging, but I do keep a towel on the bench to wipe the sweat off...lol.

BTW, I had an Oakley visor a while back and I agree...the Oakley spray doesn't help whatsoever. Your best off keeping a towel with you.

What's wrong with the oakley spray. It works just as fine with the oakley as with the Itech spray...for me atleast.

Oakley spray works for me. I agree with JR also. you probably need some separation between the shield and your face so that air can flow through.

I know someone who tried the Itech and it made the shield milky...

On just an Oakley visor? I haven't had that problem on my Itech visor.

On an Oakley, yes.

I'm having a problem with my Itech HS22 on my Itech HC85 helmet. Actually the problem is probably with my big-ass nose. I barely have any clearance. I'll be moving to the wave model when our booking order comes in.

On an Oakley, yes.

One problem I had with my Oakley visors was a weird "spider-web" effect that would happen if sweat was left on the visor and I didn't wipe it down after a game. The sweat would dry on to the visor and look kinda like a spider web. And nothing, I mean NOTHING would get it off. Not AFR spray, windex, water (hot or cold), nothing.

After getting really pissed off with that happening to 2 Oakley visors, I decided to jump to Itech, and I couldn't be more happy with their visors.

That's why you need to wipe it down :)

Yeah, but that's pretty lame for the visor to be permanently damaged because you didn't wipe it down after using it once. What if you forget? There should at least be a waring label on the box.

I've learned (although I've never owned one, just from other people) that Oakleys are the best visors on the market if you really really take care of them. But if you sorta half-ass it (like I do), they're possibly the worst.

It does say in the care instructions to wipe off the visor after each use. What do you want? A big sign on the side of the box: Warning, if you are too damn lazy to take the 6 seconds to wipe off your visor after use, then this product isn't for you.

I understand that. But, the problem I see with it is if you accidentally forget to wipe it down, it's ruined (well, mine were ruined).

I had never had that problem with any visor before that was not an Oakley or 1Xcel.

Of course everyone who plays with a visor "should" wipe it down after each use. However, not everyone is always going to remember to do that after each use. And because if that, the consumer shouldn't be out $60+

Of course, this is just my opinion. Feel free to disagree. :)

I used to wipe mine off every other shift, just because I like it clean. Damn, that sounds bad.
