4 pointsMy son, who just turned 5 in July, starts beginner hockey this Sunday. Not sure who is more excited...him or me. (yes I do...me) I was selected as one of the coaches starting mid September He gets 3 hours of ice each week.....which means....... I get 3 more hours of ice a week!

2 pointsI enjoyed coaching peewees and bantams. You earn credibility by doing all of the hard skating drills with them. It is hard for them to slack when the coach is skating hard.

2 pointsExtra ice time is totally one of the great perks of coaching kids. Especially with the little ones when you have to demonstrate every little thing. And as I'm sure you know, the kindergarten set are like ducklings and will follow your every move exactly, so no corner-cutting.

2 pointsMy absolute favorite is skating with my kids. I don't care if it's on a rink or a pond. Close second is watching them play. Close third is playing myself.

2 pointsThere are few everyday things I get more enjoyment from, than watching my kids play hockey....and skating with them. Equal to, or even better than, going out on the lake in the boat....and probably as expensive...
