I switched from FBV to zChannel a few weeks ago. The guys at TSR recommended so I figured what the hell. I started off with 5/8th's ROH with a medium channel. I noticed way more bite than my usual FBV, more glide too. I still had more than enough grip and glide even when the blades 'felt' dull to the touch. Hoping to reduce the amount of bite, I went with a 3/4th's ROH and a smaller channel. I am hoping this will reduce the amount of bite, honestly, I didn't notice a difference. For me, first time out on a fresh zChannel is borderline too much bite. I do really like the glide and it doesn't seem to deteriorate over the life of the sharpening. But there is the cost and I do wonder what impact if any it has on the life of ones steel. I might be sold on it...I don't know. I haven't really exhausted all the options yet and I've only been on that second sharpening once.

First track meet, set my new pr for the 800, a 2:19 l, and ran a 5:33 for the mile, which could have been faster if I wasn't tired from the 800 still

The problem with this is that ESPN didn't run a giant fear mongering documentary with over the top headlines regarding the proper fit of helmets. They simply shouted that hockey helmets are unsafe. And realistically not many hockey parents will be actually reading the VT scientific article...

I meant the game haha. Fighting is overrated solely based on the rules USA Hockey has put into practice at all levels. It's just not worth it. Rule 615 always wins at the end of day ha.

It's a good thing the helmet experts at USA Hockey, who know so much about individualized fit, would never put an entire team in the same helmet model. For those interested, the VT group already published a paper on the STAR hockey helmet rating, and it can be read for free, here: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10439-015-1278-7 Regarding fit, this section indicates to me indicates they are aware of the importance helmet fit plays with regards to not only lab testing but in real life head injuries. from page 10: The biofidelity of the impact model used for Hockey STAR was ensured through appropriate headform selection and comparison of acceleration traces with other data collected from hockey players. The NOCSAE headform was chosen because of its superior helmet fit at the base of the skull, and around the jaw, cheeks, and chin compared to that of the Hybrid III headform.11 A helmet that does not fit properly can shift on the head during tests, and if the contact area of the helmet padding with the headform varies from what is realistic, the effective stiffness of the padding will vary, potentially resulting in a mischaracterization of a helmet’s energy management capabilities.

Last game of the travel season for the boys, everyone had a 'stache to put on, if they wanted. Sort of a tradition(did it last year as well). My daughter had one on for a few minutes, but said it distracted her and pulled it. All three coaches had them on as well....

This year in our fund raising for the JDRF I decided to do a benefit hockey game. I can say that the fist Hockey Fights T1D game was a big success. My little guy who is 4 has Type 1 Diabetes and got to score the first goal of the game. He was thrilled.
