I agree with all of this. Even if the Isles didn't want the actual fisherman logo, I think the "wave" jersey with the lighthouse logo would have been a good option. Ducks should absolutely have been eggplant. I would have preferred an eggplant based more modern jersey with the old logo than this. I applaud the Hurricanes for consistently finding ways to add unique theme elements into their designs. The overall result may not be great, or even good, sometimes but they always have some little touch in there. I like the flying skate logo, but would maybe have preferred some nod to the V uniforms. Let's forget the Orca ever existed. I still want an Av's set with the Yeti foot as the primary logo.

There hasn't been anything good for the Islanders organization in a long time, and the fisherman is a reminder of probably the worst time this franchise has ever gone through. With Tavares leaving at the beginning of the summer, the team needs something new, not a reminder of something really bad.

I really do love all these throwbacks. I'm sure the Islanders will find a way to royally screw it up since there really is no throwback option. For those of you who will say something, no the fisherman is NOT an option.

Garbage in from the sharpener, garbage out to the customer. That sucks, and I am sorry to hear that! So- my question is how do they treat skates in regular machines? I do know of a place where they have both machines and the experienced hand sharpeners have so much disdain for the Sparx machines that they would do the same sort of deal. I will be investing in an edge checker just for the fact that it could be greatly useful for when I do skates I have not touched previously. The one time I did not do the marker test on skates that were horrendously rounded over (and the user used some self-sharpening devise) that I did not get a wonderful edge on there. Never again- I will always do marker on the blade and run ten passes MINIMUM on skates like that.

I have never used any of their sticked but allblackhockeysticks.com claims to have a Kremlin/CrazyOvi style curve, the AB8 curve. Their sticks are fairly inexpensive as well ($89 for senior, $84 for intermediate). Plus they are only 440 grams. I am in the same boat with discontinued curves, I have been using the CCM CrazyOvi curve for the past 3 years and I am trying to decide if I go to a more common curve and adjust my shot, or stick with what I know and stay with this ridiculous curve (that sacrifices my backhand). I just hate trying new curves, because they are an expensive experiment if they don't work out. if anyone has any feedback on All Black Hockey Sticks let me know before I bite the bullet.
