Yes. That is definitely the intent I wanted to put out there. Scott was not a shoe maker, therefore how he approached the method of building is VASTLY different. They are not far off from some custom composite cycling shoes that were built a few years back. The actual method of building them would have to change to purty them up. I have not reverse engineered my VH/Trues to the point of cutting them apart, but the build process they use and what Bauer and CCM would use are vastly different. I could probably build these after a few tries. I do have experience in composites, so I do NOT want to denigrade what the VH/True skate is. This is NOT some DIY project that would take the weekend to do and all of your supplies would be at your local Lowe’s. You would need a well-rounded composites background. Though a goalie mask maker with expanded composite building experience could pull off a True skate.

3D printed this spacer for my skate since I didn't want to use an orthopedic insole. Used Carbon reinforced Nylon, and swapped to stainless T-nuts and screws.

Yes, I agree this video is somewhat informative but also has terrible misinformation. You should stay within the retail line that best fits your foot shape. Just because it's a fully custom skate does not mean you can choose any skate in the CCM line like the video suggest.

If anyone feel there's too much movement and feel they are, as described by some, "too far back on their heels". Please contact me and I can send you some components to adjust to a smaller rocker. My e-mail is per@marsblade.com //Per Mars, Inventor

My Bauer APX2 customs are flawless in terms of construction, performance, and aesthetics. And remain so 5 years later aside from normal wear and tear from puck marks et al. This isn’t an optimizer where you have to compromise on one dimension in order to nail the others. True just doesn’t have their sh*t together when it comes to QC on their finishes, end of story. Every other pair I’ve seen would have been sold as a deeply discounted cosmetic blem at a big box retailer if it were Bauer/CCM/Graf/Easton.

I think most people looking at True's are looking for an alternative to the big two due to not being able to get anything from the other brands to work for them so I think for a lot of people, aesthetics aren't a primary concern to them. It should go without saying that the custom Bauer & CCM skates look a lot nicer than True's. Do True's look like a project from a high school shop class? Yes, but I'm tolerant of it on mine as I knew that going in that they're less-refined looking than the ones coming from Bauer or CCM. Bauer & CCM have an 80+ year head start so they better look really sharp.

Hi Nicholas, I'm surprised to hear this as the general feedback we've received has been very good. Of the roughly 1000 pairs we've sent out I've only had contact with two guys that are not all dialed in yet. I'm makings some adjustments for them now and I'm confident that will turn them around. That being said this is a First Edition and we are constantly working on improvements. You mentioned in a comment a delay in response and guys feeling to far back on their heels. One thing we'll adjust for the coming version is the possibility to start with a smaller rocker movement to allow a less drastic transition. Although many guys prefer quite a lot of movement once they've used them a while, some don't have the patience to adjust. This will smoothen the transition. It would be great to get in contact with the customers you mentioned that went back to their old holders as I would be more than happy to make some adjustments I'm confident would turn them around. If you're interested in discussing further I'd like to connect with you via e-mail. It's important for us to gather as much feedback as possible to improve the product and you certainly seem very engaged in improving players performance. I tried to find your e-mail through your site but didn't find it... Best regards Per Mars, Inventor
