  1. Man! That's just a wolf spider, if they bite you get a tiny nickel piece of necrosis and thats it. The Sydney Funnell web (very close cousin of your Black Widow) is a deadly sucker alongside the Redback Spider as well. Funnily enough when I tried to kill that guy, a cockroach came running out. He forgot about dodging me with the fly spray, grabbed the cockroach and ran upwards into the ceiling space for dinner with the missus. I felt like Steve Irwin for the briefest of moments. ;) Yea, those Redbacks are friggin everywhere! I killed at least two dozen of them last year in my garage and garden alone.
  2. replied... I dont have any deals going, just good mates in the US (you know who you are!) that help me score some decent gear at reasonable prices. At the end of the day I dont make anything since shipping kills me ... I aint a hockey store or biz, although my garage looks like one with the crap I keep buying. The kid that picked up the HE950 from me, traded me his One55 skates... on top of that he got these for free: 2 practice jerseys, old elbow pads, and brand new jock... The chassis alone on the HE950 was the same price as his skates, but I just wanted to help him out since he's just starting to play hockey. Also, some of my old broken sticks are in the hands of younger beginners ...
  3. <_< haha... sorry Ben... would it be better to say that someone came over last night to my place and fondled them so much that I told him he needed to buy them?...... and he did.
  4. Plastic clipboard. Its made of pretty sturdy plastic of about 3mm thick. Cut with sharp cutting knife (had to go about a dozen times to halfway, then use a pair of pliers to bend the rest of the way. It comes up pretty good, and the plastic is easy enough to use a file to round the edges or get it to size. Will try to take better pics of the heel lift, I made a few extra pieces for a sprung mount, but never got them installed when I mounted the sprungs.
  5. nope.... my son's old table top... basically a large piece of MDF Board that I put on top of a small table to enlarge the area for him to do his colouring. His mates came over and just coloured everything except the paper... It now sits on my makeshift workbench in the garage. The setup is really really light... lightest I've held for a long time.
  6. Jeez... talk about anxious. I sent the wife to the local game store to buy it for me... she sent my son to school, went shopping for other stuff, then called me to say she just bought it. No queue or anything...
  7. here is a flashback ... did these over the weekend... havent cut the bolts off yet. I was intending to do the mount with Tnuts, but the bolts I had were too long and i didnt have the bolt cutters. These are just for backups... am currently on sprungs (nothing else will do). You cant see it in this pic, but I've added a 3mm heel lift. HE950 boots size 9D mission vanguard Mags
  8. Aussie... it also means bikini clad women trying to skate on the esplanade near my place. I should just set up a beach chair and watch them go by... lycra clad cyclists are too fast, and the ones who walk are usually too stern looking Went to check my annual and flex leave schedule for the rest of the year... and I've got enough to basically take the whole of Dec off, as well as ALL the Fridays for the rest of the year... HR policies dont allow me to bring over more than 5 annual leave days to next year, so I have to clear the rest... And this year, I intend to stick to the rule of not checking work emails while I'm on leave.
  9. The chassis is pleny robust. I've used the same frame (mounted and remounted about 3 times) in league games, and played in the Nationals recently with no problem whatsoever... I block a lot of shots with my skates, and teh chassis has actually taken a beating but still remains ok. I've lost count of the number of times Ive had a alu chassis dent from a shot... once its dented its more or less gone. However with the sprungs you can swap our parts if you need to within minutes.
  10. sorry to hear that man... had that told to my face numerous times
  11. At least I know there will be a buyer when I decide to let my redlite XN10 go. :P er.. here as well?
  12. Any reason for the XXX in front, and XX at the back? Good skates nonetheless.......
  13. no problem with the wheels sticking out at all. Like sdcopp mentioned, it also depends onthe wheels and chassis. The main thing you want to be cautious of is to ensure that the wheels are centered properly... so assuming you have about 1/2 inch sticking out the front, generally you would have the same 1/2 sticking out the back. I've mounted my size 9 boots on a7 sprungs, and looking down at my laced up skates i can see almost half the wheel sticking out the front toe cap. No problem with the skating or crossovers.
  14. Assume you were directing this at me... no, i'm not a project manager but a company rep in the field. I can make the decisions myself, but this group has specifically said they wanted to do the decisions themselves. In the past, I would have replied to the dealer that I would/would not support the decisions they make... unfortunately its not the same for this particular group. they love to sit in head office, claim that the field reps arent doing their job, and bitch about how badly the dealer is doing in terms of responses. Btw, this particular engineer has come to our field office twice, and has already declared pretty clearly and loudly that he would love to take a position in the field office. Most of us wouldnt have this guy handing out water bottles on the bench (to put it in a hockey perspective)... He's got it in his mind that its a challenge working with the dealers... well, its a challenge and a throat slitting experience working with pricks like him. The dealer management has already put him on the black list... thereby not allowing him into the territory.
  15. Cant stand dealing with my company engineers.... trying to explain to them that waiting 6 weeks for a bloody answer from the factory is not acceptable. Then getting a reply from the engineers over the phone that 'if the dealer is not happy with the response time, then fuck them.' Jeez, and this coming from a guy who told everyone 'I cant wait to work full time with our dealers'... f-off bitch, you aint taking my job!
  16. Aussie, are you playing in the league with Michael Costaes? I think thats how you spell his name... I met hiim when he was over for the Nationals with Team Vic. I'm going to be in Melbourne from 8-12 Dec... maybe we can catch up.
  17. To be honest, I'm not sure. The rink felt wider and shorter as well... the space behind the goal was big enough for you to have a campout.... We ding-ed the posts and crossbars at least a dozen times in the first 2 games alone...
  18. diving to knock the puck out second goalie disco spin http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/f...7_2073_2156.jpg eyes on the puck http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/f...7_1999_2076.jpg not a breakaway
  19. Thats really cool man... i love it when someone takes one for the team ...
  20. allsmokes... understand where you are coming from. We refer to our Maltese/Jack Russel cross as our 'girl', and she's pretty well taken care of. We got her last year, when her previous owner put her up for adoption. First time I saw her, i knew she would be the right one for us. She was shy, grey and dirty looking... took her a while to get used to us, but after that and a few bathes, her coat is as white as snow. She's well fed now, compared to the crap the previous owner was giving her. Got to the finals in the National Inline Hockey Tournament here in Australia... didnt get to play much in the game, basically 3 shifts in the first half, and didnt get on the floor in the second half or OT. Didnt really care, just being on the bench, looking at the support from the home fans, shouting myself hoarse trying to get the team going, screaming at the ref for lousy calls... just being part of the team was all that mattered to me. For those who didnt get to read about my injuries, I got tackled from behind during indoor soccer a few months back and thought that was the end of it. I even sent a text message to the coach, telling him to strike me off the list for this tourny, but he told me to give it some time... to me, being able to lace up my skates and be part of this team again was well worth all the effort to get back into the game. While we were all having a great time in the locker room after the game, everyone had a chance to speak out... one of the guys gave me a great mention, saying that even though I didnt get much playing time, the support and encouragement from the bench was what kept them going... to me, thats what the team is about, everyone willing to do their best, lay their body on the line for the whole crew. I havent felt really a part of a team for a long time, and its a damn good feeling. I would have been happy as a water boy or something... but the guys gave me a chance.
  21. Lost a game yesterday, shite refereeing that resulted in 4 of us in the sin bin in the first 4 minutes of the game. Throughout the rest of the game, we had numerous chances ring off the post, goal disallowed when the puck when in and then out after a sweeeeet wraparound by my team mate (with his family and kids in the stands). We were down 2-1 and pulled the goalie with half minute to go... setup and one of the guys took a sweeet wrister from the point that went top shelf... only to be disallowed for another crappy call. The reason this is in the sweet spot thread instead of the venting thread, is that game served as a wake up call... we had another game in the evening against another team, and we dominated the whole game. Even at full strength we were cycling the puck, moving with purpose, hitting the open man... I scored our 4th goal, sweeet pass from the left wing with me trying to go full tilt towards the net. Lost my footing but still able to redirect the puck, puck hit the goalie pads and while i was still sliding towards the net i kicked the puck with my left peg... next thing I know the ref was calling it a goal! All those year of soccer have come in handy! Great game, everyone was pumped after the game! That first loss made us think that we could play much much better, and we DID. We played great, and our fans in the crowd said that the game was seamless...
  22. Good stuff... assume that the tape you put on was double sided tape for location purposed? and did you use counter sunk screws?
