  1. How many times does a company keep removing employee benefits without telling the employees... seems like everytime I check there is something new or wrong.
  2. Ol' pal and mentor in my company just passed away last week after fighting cancer... grumpy ol' bastard, but lots of good advice given... RIP Foxy. Tried to find a house in the new city we're moving to next month... 8 families viewing one house that looked like a dungeon, with fake skulls and everything. We did put in applications for two places, one that got turned down. Now waiting on the other to confirm... dont know why people cant understand the conditions you want to include when you break it down specifically .... it was more stressful waiting and waiting, and still waiting.
  3. They should fit... I think they might be refering to the dremmeling that needs to be done to allow clearance for the second wheel.
  4. haha... heard that one before, and one that i hear frequently in my line is: dealer to sell to customer at discounted price, while me working for the manufacturer to drop my price so that the dealer can make the same margin of profit... on top of that, for me to provide additional warranty, and pay for any problems along the way...
  5. Not a Chelsea fan, but I would prefer them to win over ManU anyday.
  6. played a good team game last night, breaking a 2 game losing streak (if you can call it a streak). Ended up 5-1 winners, and kudos to our 13 year old standin goalie while our actual goalie was off to Europe with his missus. The goalie stopped numerous shots, was unfazed at everything... he kept us in the game enough for us to settle down and play like a team. We killed about 5 penalties, with everyone just taking it easy and making hte passes to waste some time. Got a nice goal as well... we were passing really well during the shift, and me playing in the high slot. Anticipated that my team mate would intercept a pass, and he drove it up the right wing, with me heading towards the net... played a soft pass to me, slow enough to draw the goalie out for a poke check... pulled the puck away from him a split second before he got it, and the practice of pulling to the backhand and shot kicks in.. puck was in the net before the goalie could even extend for his poke check... thought it was a nice goal, well set up... but the bench just thought it was really sick how we did all the passing.
  7. 2 goals, 2 assists in last night's game, although missing on two breakaways (deke to backhand hit the post, goalie gloved my top shelf on second attempt). Overall we still played pretty well but could have done more. Bittersweet though, as I now know that I'll be moving to another city in a few months time. Hoping that hockey there is as big as it is here...
  8. Darkbyte mentioned something about a spray on type solution, used for bikes and visors to prevent scratches... cant remember the brand but it supposedly works wonders
  9. Got my first ride on my Graf 670 sprungs last night. I could really feel the spring in my step so to speak. I did add some lace locks which locked my heel in very well... and for the FIRST TIME IN YEARS I havent had nasty blisters
  10. stupid telco part Deux! telco sends a guy to come in to fix the problem line, and happens to cut my internet... now internet provider needs to send someone to fix it as well.
  11. stupid telco... first they had some problem with the phone line (which I didnt subscribe to), but it affects the internet connection. Two weeks without internet, and now they have to send someone out to fix the line between 1-5pm. Idiots... whats the point of making an appointment, when they cant fix the damn thing during that time, and then have to come another day.
  12. I was thinking the same thing, but it may have been centralized in relation to the cuff...
  13. hahha..... believe me!!!! Lets put it this way... some know that I've been looking at the Graf skates, especially the G70, 670 and 570 for some time. G70 are priced out of my range... so the obvious choice would be the 670 which I got thru a real good trade. helmet I bought from a member here... and all these decisions were made before we got the jerseys (only third game so far this season)... and the Captain didnt tell us about the new colors until the day before we got the jerseys in time for the first game. But, hey... i know I'm not the best or even a good player, but at least I look good...
  14. Well... I'm not a huge fan of the colorway, but..... my team's jerseys coincidentally are black and silver this year (compared to our red/black scheme we had for the past 4 seasons) And it matches: Silver M11 helmet Black/Silver Jerseys and Pants Black NBH 4rolls (has some silver accents) Mission Titanium OPS Graf 670 boots Believe me, none of the color coordination was intensional... but somehow it just worked out.
  15. New wheels... making debut next week. I wanted to mount my A7, but the sole of the boot didnt seem wide enough at the rear... I followed the instructions to the T, centre line, then 1/4" back towards the heel. looks similar in terms of the mount compared to other grafs... I had my previous A6 mounted right on centre on my previous mounts, and if I leaned back I just felt like I was gonig to tip over backwards... I think with the 1/4" back it would help with that... Got the boots 'fitted' by a guy from the IW board... sent him pics and he helped me with the boot selection (already had them in mind). The boots fit perfect in terms of length, and the depth is sweet (thanks to epstud for the heads up on getting this range of grafs). Boots might get some lace locks put on them, and swapped to yellow laces to match the yellow Graf logo... we'll have to see what happens
  16. played a game last night, and twice during the game we caught them on a really bad line change. I had myself totally open in front of the net for a looooong time, but my team mate decides to skate the puck all the way in and fans on it... he missed a clean breakaway, and twice he should have passed it to the front of the net instead of trying to bring it in himself. Dont get me wrong, he's a decent player, but once the other team plays a little more physcial it throws him off his game. We should have won, but ended up 6-4 The gal/guys on my usual line do a lot more passing, and we ended up with 3 goals for our line... lots of passing to open teammates who were just 'ghosting' in behind the play, easy passes that just end up with one person in front of the goalie with time and space to place the shot. CANT WE DO THAT EVERY GAME!!!!!
  17. not bullet holes...just the damage from the hail... city estimates about $100M worth of damage to private owners only... not including whats happened to schools, parks, etc... even the cemetary wasnt spared during the storm. Lots of tombstones with angels missing wings... Yea.... Wilson appeared... my buddy sent me the photos, so I dont know if it was him or someone else who put it there... Newspapers reported that all the major car dealers were hit, and none of them had hail insurance (why would you when the last time was 50 years ago). They listed the Ferrari, Maserati and Aston Martin dealers were badly hit... The Audi showroom had a glass roof I believe, which is why the car in the showroom were damaged.
  18. Here's a link to some of the pics of the storm damage around Perth. Not as bad as other areas of the world, just a weird storm that turned up on Monday just passed. Anyone want to take a trip to the local Audi dealer and get some cheaper 'storm hardened' cars for a cheap price? (pics are of cars IN the showroom)
  19. The Stoll is similar to the Ovechkin, but with a lower lie. The Irmen is also the same as the Ovechkin, with a more squarish toe. I havent played with the Titaniums yet, but the blade feel is very similar to my Irmen... blade is a little thicker, but very solid. The Stoll has a more rounder shaft, similar to the Vapor. As for the Gryphon, its my lucky stick... found it at the rink, and after asking everyone who was there that night who it belonged to, and even posting a 'found' sign, no one came forward. I've just kept it mainly as a backup, but its a little hard to describe the stick. The shaft itself is a little thicker, and even though you can put a standard plug/blade tenon in the top end, you would have to put a few layers of tape for a snug fit. The feel of the blade is pretty good, and I can really feel the stick flex when taking shots. I do use it in rougher games, but the blade and shaft have held up extremely well... no paint chipping (hardly any) and the blade has not cracks or chips even though I take a lot of face offs with it. Gryphon is more of a field hockey manufacturer, but they make decent sticks. They have changed their stick design for 2010, with white fading to dark blue. Quite a number of the local guys play with the stick, and I've yet to see someone break one.
  20. Some stuff came in the mail this week... not taking pics of the gear until my grafs get here... Still using the Mission Matrix on the bottom left. Been using it for 6 years, and the top hand palm has finally gotten a hole. This is a longer fit 16inch glove, very good against slashes. Trying to break in the black NBH 4 rolls at the same time. Mission ... gotta love their stuff. 2 x Mission Titanium Sundin 2 x Mission Titanium J Stoll Prostocks 1 x Mission Ti Pro Irmen prostock... pucks rocket off this thing, if only I could keep the shot lower by about 1 foot I would be hitting top corners 2 x CCM Vector V10 Ovechkin Grips... very nice curve 1 x Gryphon P88 Clone
  21. HUGE storm today... and I mean HUGE. You could barely see about 10m in front of you with the heavy downpour... and it was freakin hailing! Small ice balls coming down hitting the roof of the car sounds like gunshots... pissed down so much that it blew water into the house thru al the open windows... This is in the sweet spot as its the first rain for i think 3 months?
  22. Father-child campout on school field over the weekend... about 50 or so tents set up, some looking rather majestic rather than functional. Kids had a great time, fathers had an AWESOME time catching up. We had the 'best' setup, with all our tents surrounding our picnic table and folding chairs... lots of food as well, to the point we had to roudn up other kids to help finish all the cookies, cupcakes, snacks etc... and that was even before the official dinner bbq started. The funny thing was it was supposed to start at 430pm, but when I went to pick my son up after school at 245pm, there were already 4 tents set up, and the MOTHERS were setting up another 2 or 3. It was also good to walk around and see which family had the most functional tent, something that was easy to setup/down... gonna get me a proper tent if we decide to go more often... Asked my son after the campout: 'should we go camping with mommy?'.... and the reply was: "no way! she'll cry".... haahahhah
  23. You should be able to get some from the local hardware store or home depot...
