  1. You win this thread. And that gives me an idea for a new thread...
  2. I agree, I was a Large in all my other elbow pads and a Medium in the 2010 projekts. I've never tried the 2012 model. Actually, crap.. I just realized I bought mediums in those easton pros. I guess we'll see when they arrive tomorrow...
  3. I do :) althoma1 is exactly right. I'm on my second pair of Projekts (due to the stitching coming apart in my first pair after I tried to pull them off without undoing the straps) and have two brand new pairs waiting to be used. All the white 2010 model. I just bought a pair of those Easton Pro elbows to give them a try, since the Projekts are discontinued and I've found nothing even remotely close to being as comfortable. But I'm definitely good for a while. That was my thought when I tried them. I found them to be bulky, or to be more precise they simply felt like I was actually wearing elbow pads. The projekts you can't even tell you're wearing them. Based on the photos on IW I was expecting them to feel very similar (they sure LOOKED similar), but not. even. close.
  4. Thanks, Krev. I'll have a look around for those. The new Warrior AX elbows looked similar in construction but were not even remotely the same feeling when actually on. Edit: Are these the ones youre talking about? http://www.icewarehouse.com/descpage.html?pcode=EPROEP
  5. I tried the elbows and they weren't for me. I'm still trying to find something to replace the Projekts (discontinued) I wear now. Luckily I bought as many clearance pairs as I could find, so I should be good for a while.
  6. very nice. Good call going with the Eastons. I was a bit shocked with them. Went into the store fully expecting to buy CCM CL and ended up not liking them. These were ridiculously comfortable. Like WOW comfortable. And the fact that the knee cap actually bends away from the shin was fantastic for mobility. I was previously in Nexus1000 which were a nice shape, but man I hated the scratchy liner.
  7. New shins: Easton Mako New gloves: Sher-Wood Nexon N6
  8. Nice! Thank you for the reply. I was in HockeyMonkey a couple weeks ago and was randomly trying on gloves (knowing that my beloved Warrior Koncept was discontinued) and put my hands in a pair of N8s. Needless to say, they came home with me. The only issue I have with them is a bit of finger discomfort (the index and pinky fingers), likely due to the lack of stretch from the palm material wrapping around the finger the way they do on those gloves. If the EK is an improvement off the Nexon gloves, then I will be picking up a pair ASAP!
  9. Flew up to Chicago for a 4-day network install. Finished it in 8 hours. Going home first thing tomorrow morning :)
  10. Heh, three years is right around where I'm at. I went home to the Toronto area (Barrie, actually) last month. Normally I go during summer or Christmas, but I haven't seen an Ontario autumn since 2005. Sadly, it rained that entire week. But visiting the HHoF and watching NIN in Toronto made it all worth it :)
  11. NICE! Nothing like playing on NHL ice. We played at Staples a few weeks ago. Had a hard time paying attention to the game, just because I was too busy looking around in awe! The ice was like GLASS! Wow, that's actually a FANTASTIC idea. All AHL and ECHL teams, or just a select few?
  12. ^ I miss snow. I don't get much sympathy from people about the weather though, living in San Diego... lol But I really do miss actual seasons.
  13. Ive found that now that mine have broken in I'm having greater difficulty getting my lacing right (and boy can I feel it when I get it wrong!). Same spot as other skates I've worn - on the outside of the foot.
  14. Are the EK gloves roughly the same fit as the Nexon (are these a replacement to the Nexon? I'm a bit confused if these are replacements or a separate new line..)
  15. it's also a 9' radius out of the box.
  16. Awww yea, using a spreadsheet to do expense reports. Just like it was 2003 again!
  17. Nice. I picked one up in the store, almost bought it, but decided to snag the last RH T90 Undercover Slimfit 70flex they had left, figuring I can always get an EK15 later :)
  18. The tools I use for my job are as important to me as salary and benefits.
  19. Thanks for posting that pic. I loved the white tendon guard earlier in the thread and wondered how the whole thing would look in white. You've answered that (personally, it's too much for me). Was the name/number a special request? I'm not sure if I'd do that to mine, but it would be awesome to have something fully custom (my current running shoes are Nike iD with my starting weight on one tongue and my goal weight on the other, kind of a motivational thing, so yeah I definitely dig custom stuff).
  20. Definitely. I'm one of them, no question. The Nexus is the best looking skate on the market, imo... if that says anything. Sure isn't going to stop me from wearing something comfortable though! And now that they're black, so much the better. I hate to admit this (insert confession bear meme here) but I've honestly avoided Bauer Vapor everything the entire time I've played hockey (about 3 yrs now) solely because that's what EVERYONE has. Trying Vapor skates was the last thing on my mind (though I did do it, before giving up and forking out the cash on the Makos). Anything Bauer I've ever had has been Supreme or Nexus. Yep, I guess I'm one of "those guys", but in reverse.
  21. Yup, that's exactly what I'm feeling now. STILL very tempted to try VH, though.
  22. Well sure, but this is completely removing the laces from the top four eyelets, not just loosening them. I have to pull the tongue way forward and slip my toes in carefully before putting my heel down, or else the footbed will bunch up. Not a huge deal besides the extra two minutes it takes to re-lace all the eyelets on both skates. I just wish the stock footbeds were slightly more rigid. But I also wish I didn't have to wear a neoprene sleeve on my ankle to keep from getting "mako-bumps", but if thats the price to pay to skate pain free then so be it.
  23. The only I've found is that I have to be REALLY careful getting my foot in, or else the footbed will actually bunch up because its so thin. Pretty much have to unlace 4 top eyelets to get the skates on my foot.
  24. New company making me use a Windows laptop... (rather, making me carry a windows email machine and my personal laptop to actually do work on even though I'm not supposed to)
