This thread just took a hard right into 90s D.A.R.E. territory. Haha.
-
It's official. If anyone in the Denver metro area has any leads on customer service management jobs, please let me know. I think I've got 3 months.

Looking like the company I work for is being bought by one of our competitors. We're not small by any means, but the company rumored to be the purchaser is multinational. There's supposedly going to be an announcement made soon. Here's to hoping the rumors aren't true. Or that at least I'll still have a job after all is said and done.

Haha. He claimed he liked them but it looked hilarious. I'm betting he's one slash away from going back to real gloves.
-
Nah, they're a either a contoured or tapered fit. I tried them on and my knuckles sat halfway down the palm. Haha. He thought they were 14".
-
So. I went to drop in tonight and my teammate Adam shows up and is all "Yeah man, I got some new gloves, they're fucking sweet man. Check it out" and he busts out these 12" JR size gloves. Lol. His new nickname is babyhands. Haha.

I see a good amount of CCM where I play. I'm curious now though. Gonna have to start keeping a tally at the rink.

I dunno. You think Mission/Bauer outsells all of the 80 setup manufacturers combined?
-
No, the refs hand out extra penalties if you try to ask them why a call was or wasn't made. They've even ejected our captain for it, telling him he can only talk to them after the game. Also, it wasn't even his follow through. He swung the stick with enough force that it bounced straight off my stick and went flying into my face.
-
Yeah. It's definitely a matter of discipline. We have a guy that doesn't wear a cage or visor that would've gotten really messed up if it was him instead of me.
-
It's just weird because they're usually very liberal with their penalties. They'll call you for slashing if your stick is within 6 inches of their hands. I hope they're just loosening up in general, but I really think that should have been a call.

Today I'm grateful that I play hockey with face protection. Second inline game of the season (won our first game 2-0). We're facing a new team to the league, it's their first season there. We're destroying them 8-1 with about 7 minutes to go in the third. Puck lands at the half boards and I'm heading towards it at about a 45 degree angle. Guy on the other team is heading for it at about the same angle but going the other way. I just barely get there first and this dude takes a giant golf swing at the puck and cracks me straight up the centerline of my cage with the shaft of his stick. He doesn't apologize and just moves on. Ref is standing five feet away. The whole team saw him watch it happen and the ref just shrugs at me. It's not like he brushed me with it or anything. It was loud. Normally I don't get worked up over missed calls but if I wasn't wearing anything I'd have a broken nose and missing teeth. On my last face off I was against him and just kind of wrapped his stick up and shoved him out. Felt good. Haha. Final score was 8-2, but still.

I had that exact problem. I was disorganized and would legitimately forget I had homework. Maybe it's an opportunity to learn what type of personal organization and reminders work for you. It's an important skill that you will benefit from for the rest of your life.

Just because some people face horrible tragedies doesn't negate what you feel and go through. Also, don't listen to those people TALKING About 3.5 being awful. 3.4 is good. I had a horrible GPA in high school because I never did my homework. Not to advocate taking such a course, but I've done just fine for myself. Hang in there and don't let the bastards grind you down. Edit: Sorry, long day. Just realized you may have meant you're at 2.5, which is about what I skated by at. Either way, same advice applies. Don't give up, and don't pay the jerks any mind.

So in my inline league everyone has one bye week. This is the third time in a row they've given us the first week bye. But this season they gave us another bye on the last week of the season and scheduled us for two games on one Wednesday at 8:50pm and 10:40pm. Wtf.

I finally did it. After all the horrible timings and misses that led to turnovers during a game. I finally scored a goal from behind the goal line. Haha. That's what you get for leaning out too far from the post. Bounced it right off the guys shoulder. Lol.
-
Damn man. That's an awful streak. Hang in there.

On Monday at work I was missing 80% of my staff. So I had one front line guy working cases and calling clinics about issues with patients lab work (I work in a preanalytical department for a medical laboratory doing problem resolution). So I figure as the boss it's my duty to jump in and help him so he's not overwhelmed. I also had to do all my supervisory duties. I come in today to check the numbers from the day before come to find out I worked twice as many cases as my employee did and resolved ten times as many cases. I'd accept a slight discrepancy but we're talking 47 vs 105 here. I've had problems with his productivity before. I just can't find a way to light a fire under this guy. I just want to hook him up to something that will zap him when he starts getting sidetracked or slows down. He does great work, but he moves like molasses.

So my inline team played tonight. Lots of new guys and we're finally starting to all mesh. We won our game in epic fashion, 7-2. In the last four minutes I blocked a slap shot with my thigh right above where the padding on my compression shorts end. Gonna have a nice welt there. I've got three raised circles from the pegs on the puck where it hit me. Lol. Doesn't hurt too bad but I'm waiting for it to bruise to see how much puck detail I get. Haha.

Been fighting with my anxiety to get up the will power to go back to school for the past two years. In September on my 30th birthday I decided enough was enough. I went and applied, got accepted, went to put through my credits from previous school work and they only accept 6 credit hours. Kind of disappointing when you have an accumulated 66 credit hours towards an art degree you never finished. As well as successful completion of an EMS Program at an accredited college (In going back to be a medical laboratory technologist). But it is what it is I meet with the advisor and she tells me my experience is satisfactory and the only general ed credits I need to complete to move forward are BIO201 and CHE101. I need to complete these in the spring to be accepted into the MLT program next fall. I go to register for classes today and it tells me I'm missing 4 prerequisites for those two goddamn classes and won't let me register for them. Which puts all of my plans back a year. It may not seem like a huge ordeal but for someone with an anxiety disorder who has been struggling to make this move for years it feels like my entire world got turned upside down.

Sweet. I'm poor and boring so I've only got a QRL3 in a W88. Freaking awesome stick though. Digging the white graphics.

At the beginning of 2016 I got back into playing hockey (inline) after not having played competetively since I was 13. I turned 30 on Monday. I struggled a lot at first. Could barely skate, couldn't even make a decent wrist shot the first season. No goals for two seasons. Today marked the end of our third season as a team. Our roster got decimated. We lost our captain (moved), and best offensive player (son was old enough to play and couldn't afford both), and our second best player got in a car accident after our first game and missed the entire season. Leaving us with 4 skaters a game and no bench. On the plus side the four of us got to know each other's play style very well. We lost every game but only got blown out twice. Every other team had at least six skaters. Five games into an eight game season, got my first two goal game. One scrummy crease rebound goal and a great wrist shot. Tonight I had my second two goal game. First one was a toe drag wrapped between the goalies skate and the post. But the second one was the most goddamn beautiful bar down backhander I've seen outside the NHL. I swear I don't like bragging but holy shit it feels good to finally be getting an iota of offensive finesse back. We lost 4-2, but we have three new guys lined up for next season.

Day one of a much needed 16 day paid vacation. Travelling back east on Monday evening to visit my mom for five days. The girlfriend has never been to Philly or Southern NJ. A childhood friends step mom owns beachfront property in ocean city and we're going to stay there a day or two. Life is good.

On the far right. 11-2 win. Woo. Lol.
