  1. I've never seen David Wright play in person before, but luckily I got a ticket to his final game at third base.
  2. Being able to buy nice things with my own money that I earned.
  3. I just worked a 4 week temp job in our town's conservation program and got exposed during the third week. I'm over the worst of it but I'm using Calamine, Hydrocortisone, and Zertec to get rid of it. Mostly on my left forearm and wrist, right calf (where it's probably the worst, there's been a huge plaque of the stuff for about 10 days), and left ankle. Still pretty itchy though.
  4. Poison Ivy. God damn this stuff takes forever to go away.
  5. Watching Ovi almost cry at getting to lift the Cup made me melt a little. Unbelievable season for both teams, I wonder if any of the Caps are gonna leave in Free Agency...
  6. Forget what I said in the Venting Spot, my other boat came in third against much better competition (we had to race 4 novices in our third varsity 8 against the largest crew in the country,) and our boathouse won the overall trophy! We're sending a lot of boats to Nationals and things are looking better for next season.
  7. Spent all year training for Northeast Regionals for crew, and our first race missed qualifying for finals by a few seconds. The second race is probably gonna get thundered out... Feels like a season wasted sometimes.
  8. How tall are you? I'm 16 and also wear a 30 length and 5'8 but my dad is 5'4 and wears the same length, same width too I think.
  9. My point wasn't related to the series at hand, as such I got rid of my comment. Carry on.
  10. Good pictures, and I love the Islanders gloves with the Brooklyn alternate socks.
  11. Being sick and missing school when there's a bunch of important assignments due soon, after missing part of last week as well. The workload is starting to get overwhelming.
  12. Decided to dust off the old NXG (which I took every available opportunity to dump on when I used it because of the PM9 curve), on a whim. I love it. Shots were flying off the blade, no matter if I shot off from heel to toe, or did the 'pull in, push out' kind of shot I'd expect to have to use with my P46. Snapshots off the heel were good too. Too bad the NXG is a junior, the shaft dimensions and height were too small for me. Might need to look for it in an intermediate closeout...
  13. My area has a couple, like the Junior Rangers (http://cjrhockey.com), but I don't know how far Stamford is from you. I do agree with @chippa13 though. The scheduling and logistics are a complete pain from my understanding, and they're obscenely expensive for a squirt. Spend the money on other things, mainly focusing on your kids individual skills and especially skating. I think that'd pay off better in the long run.
  14. Congratulations! Hope you make as many (positive) memories in your new home as you did your old one.
  15. That's more goals than I've scored in my life, my season high is 3...
  16. What curve is that? Looks quite rectangular.
  17. Especially with the cost of the equipment necessary to do it - a six pack of RX 570s was selling for nearly $2000 online, meaning you have to have a pc capable of handling that much wattage (probably around 1500), not to mention the cost is electricity.
  18. Does anyone in this thread mine cryptocurrency, or are you guys reserved to just buying / selling?
  19. RBZ blades have never been known for being durable, but the addition of the metal insert didn't help matters. It'll last if you treat it well, but be careful with it.
  20. Got Islanders tickets for my family's annual Christmas party, against a good team (Columbus) and in the unobstructed seats, no less. Now I have to wait until February...
  21. I don’t know much about finance, but if hockey stores, especially local hockey stores, were getting from 20 to 40 percent margins on sticks I don’t think we’d have a problem with the shortage of local / smaller stores. I could be wrong (or I could have misread).
  22. I actually have family in the Albany area, and I did do a private lesson or two up there a few years ago, so it's possible that I've actually seen you before.
  23. Our school has two hockey teams - one for the super good kids who play all the other really good schools in the area and consistently goes to the state tournament (varsity), and the team for kids who aren't quite good enough yet but they get experience playing in the coaches system and get to have their growth monitored (Junior Varsity / JV). It's a pretty similar dynamic to the NHL and AHL if that makes sense. I also apologize for hijacking the thread.
  24. Of course I love the game, it means a lot to me and it's taught me many a lesson, but I got into the sport late and am certainly not the most athletic guy, but obviously that is most certainly not an excuse. The coaches talk to everyone who comes to tryouts 1:1 after the last session and they told me my puck skills and "Hockey IQ" were good enough to land me on JV, but my skating was going to get me hurt. I plan to go in tomorrow to see if there's anything I can do to work out and practice with the team because I don't have another place to play all winter. I have a good understanding of what needs to improve (keeping my head up, backward crossovers, tight edgework, and most definitely flat out speed), and I think with some structure and intensity I can get myself to Varsity by next year. If it doesn't pan out, the rowing program I play (is play the right word?) for has an intense winter workout program to gear everyone up for the spring season (we've gone to nationals the last few years), and there's no ice time involved, but I will come out faster, stronger, and more agile than I was, and there's always public skate.
