+1 I have, they were too heavy for me and I prefer Flare. I am not shooting anyone down. I am providing general opinion and feedback. I agree. I also understand this is a v1 product so fine tuning will need to occur for it to become better and more mainstream. Its hard to release something new and revolutionary. I have been involved with many startup and kickstarter style projects and products over the years. I have. They were too heavy for me and I honestly didn't notice any benefit. I didn't mount them on my TRUE skates, instead mounting them to my older Vapors. While I liked the feel of the for cornering and such I felt top end speed was limited by them and the added weight. It took me more energy to get going to top speed and took more strides. I dont play a "cut down the middle" type of play, I am a more of a go wide and blow past everyone. I found that this didnt work well for my style of skating. Is there a long term roadmap to build the holders in something other than carbon to save weight and increase durability. We have had a couple of pairs come in recently that are pretty chewed up. I imagine the frame needs to be very stiff in order to accommodate the leaf spring used for the motion technology. Hence why carbon was used.

There is more than a few players using STX in the NHL. Not sure why people think otherwise.

No offense, but Kronwall is quite old and is more known for his physical presence than his skating skills.

@Marsblade I asked a few of the players who tried the holders and switched back to their stock ones about changing the dynamics of the holders and each player turned down the offer. They said even if we could get the feeling dialed in they consider the weight of the holder as too big of a hinderance. I can pass them your information if you would like and they can contact you directly if they prefer.

Toss the helmet in a skate oven, or a home convection oven, for about 2 minutes and then toss it on and it should stretch out nicely. Keep a watchful eye on it though when it's baking as some foams dont tolerate high heat very well. Not sure if the V08 you have is all VN foam or not.

The Supreme does, in fact, have an arch built into the skate as does the CCM Tacks. This is specifically why I cannot wear those skates as it causes me a ton of pain right behind the ball of my foot, or towards the front of my arch. I would put in some speed plate insoles as that helped me with the discomfort.

The FT490 is very similar to the current FT1. If you like the weight and such of the current generation then go with the FT490. Also, I am not 100% sure about the midsole as the CCM catalog only mentioned lightweight midsole for the FT490 and specifically a composite midsole on the FT2. Not like it really matters in the end.

I have handled and skated with these holders quite a bit and dont see either of the issues regularly occurring. Once you have them in your hand you will see how they are engineered to not allow such thing to happen. There is always a chance that a hard shock could "blow up" the thumb screw but it's pretty easy to swap a new one in. It takes only a few minutes, unlike an Edge holder which would require a full replacement.

Seems like stainless steel is the best way to go. They are slightly thicker than regular steel but dont rust and seem to have a higher tensile strength.

Some templates have a built-in pitch. If you want to have a neutral pitch you would do the following: Mark the blades pivot point on center (like normal). Mark an additional pivot point 20mm back from center (closer to heel). Line up pivot point on the sled with the black dot. Place blade in the holder with the 20mm back from center lined up with sleds pivot point. Do not clamp yet. Press left directional arrow till the sleds pivot point lines up with the center pivot point and clamp in place there. Make your wheel adjustments like normal. Profile till complete.

Do most of you use the standard #8/9/10 steel rivets? Has anyone experimented with rivets with a larger diameter head? What about different head types? Tried various materials other than basic steel, such as aluminum, bronze, or zinc coated steel? Lastly, has anyone tried using tubular rivets that have a hollow head?

From what I have seen the VH skates were more pliable than the TRUE skates and as such many people feel they fit better but did not last as long.

My mom was a private banker in Beverly Hills when he was at the height of his career and she was his personal banker. She was able to score me some signed Airwolf memorabilia from him when I was a kid because I loved that show.

That is personal preference. You can put STEP on any holder.
