  1. no floppy anything here. on top of my laces being extra long, i also skip the top hole. so when unlaced they're plenty loose for me to slip on and off easily and for the skates to air out properly
  2. ive never had rivet replacements, but i did drop my skates off for something last year i forget what and they cut my laces so i was like "wtf" and they gave me a free pair of replacement laces. so i won on that deal
  3. i've always bought longer laces than needed and knot the ends so ive never had an issue with tips since they only really get laced once
  4. i wear these. got them on clearance for $10 a few years ago and been really happy with them
  5. +1 for ABHS. been using them for around a year and they last a long time. plus i can actually get matte finish which is impossible to find these days
  6. plus a more aggressive forward pitch. i'm a Graf guy. i've skated in a few other skates the past few years but went right back to Graf.
  7. damn, i've broke a runner once in my entire 24 years playing hockey
  8. step steel is always worth the money. i've thrown them in 3 pairs of skates at this point
  9. its also funny that after Gretzky said that about wood sticks, you see him using composite sticks in every alumni game he's played in
  10. i dont tie my skates that tight either, but prefer wax laces just because they're so much more durable. any time i've used non-waxed they get sliced in game 1 or 2
  11. i hate grip sticks and buy matte, but i use a rather small amount of tape up top. i play with a guy that doesn't tape the top of his sticks, but he wore a giant hole through his palm super quickly
  12. i use 100/50 and love it, but i'm only 165 lbs
  13. well yeah, its gonna take some time to get used to the shorter stick. but once you do, you're gonna love it
  14. i'm pretty much the same type of player and i use the PM9. cut to the botttom of my lips when barefoot and 65 flex
  15. i didn't know they made different kinds. i guess i'm anal enough to notice the elite are thinner, but not quite as anal as you
  16. yeah elite laces suck. i like the howies and a&r
  17. my current skates don't have the comfort edge, my last pair did. i've never felt a difference, really. my hockey socks end up being under the top of the skate anyway so even though i skate barefoot, that part of the skate never touches my skin
  18. I've been playing with a completely dead stick for like 2-3 months waiting for it to break while I have a brand new one sitting at home. still scoring with it, so
  19. 100% psychology. and usually the guys spending top dollar on equipment thinking it'll make them better that I play with are ankle benders that need to spend that money on skating lessons instead lol
  20. i try not to spend over $100 on a stick and i always score more goals and get more assists than the guys playing with $300 sticks lol but its beer league so
  21. really? I was told X7 was the closest equivalent and I dont really notice a difference please educate me
  22. yeah, i went from 5/8" to 100/50 or X7 and the difference was insane. almost fell on my face and had to skate really carefully for my first few shifts til i got used to it and been flying ever since. no way i could go back to a regular hollow
  23. i hope my local Pure Hockey doesn't do the same. but thankfully, i have 2 other places i can get FBV done around here.
