  1. been skating on fbv for a decade now and couldn’t imagine ever going back to a regular hollow. who cares what NHLers use. i’m a 40 year old beer league player
  2. bingo. mine were both loose so i popped them out and replaced them with chicago screws and good lord what a difference. should have come that way from the factory
  3. depends on your level of pay obviously, but for mens league i just buy sticks for $75-100 a pop from HOAPA or allblackhockeysticks since i can get non-grip in the exact curve, flex, and kick point i want. still score plenty of goals
  4. just stole these off eBay for $280. they were never skated in. came with never sharpened LS3 steel
  5. I have and love those Combats except the palms wore out incredibly fast. gotta send em out for repalm
  6. $85 off sidelineswap. liners and loops were cut which I'm not thrilled about, but otherwise they're barely used and can't beat the price for pro stock franchises
  7. i had those back in the day. they were good skates
  8. im on my second hockeytron one and id definitely recommend it
  9. probably my Louisville "Messier" gloves in calgary colors. one day i'll send them out for a re-palm
  10. i dont tie my skates that tight either, but prefer wax laces just because they're so much more durable. any time i've used non-waxed they get sliced in game 1 or 2
  11. i use 100/50 and love it, but i'm only 165 lbs
  12. my current skates don't have the comfort edge, my last pair did. i've never felt a difference, really. my hockey socks end up being under the top of the skate anyway so even though i skate barefoot, that part of the skate never touches my skin
  13. I've been playing with a completely dead stick for like 2-3 months waiting for it to break while I have a brand new one sitting at home. still scoring with it, so
  14. 100% psychology. and usually the guys spending top dollar on equipment thinking it'll make them better that I play with are ankle benders that need to spend that money on skating lessons instead lol
  15. i try not to spend over $100 on a stick and i always score more goals and get more assists than the guys playing with $300 sticks lol but its beer league so
  16. really? I was told X7 was the closest equivalent and I dont really notice a difference please educate me
  17. yeah, i went from 5/8" to 100/50 or X7 and the difference was insane. almost fell on my face and had to skate really carefully for my first few shifts til i got used to it and been flying ever since. no way i could go back to a regular hollow
  18. i hope my local Pure Hockey doesn't do the same. but thankfully, i have 2 other places i can get FBV done around here.
  19. always been a Graf guy. previously worn 703s and 704. currently wearing F60 which is the predecessor to 703/704 and they're definitely my favorite since its the same skate but they weigh half as much
  20. i have these and think they look much better after 6+ months of wear than they did brand new
  21. i sprayed the cage portion of my Tron combo white which i think helps with looking down at your feet. never been a fan of black cages
  22. i have the Tron and love it. been using it for 3+ years and it barely ever fogs
  23. if your skates are fitted and baked properly your foot shouldn't be sliding? or am i crazy
  24. i use the hybrid visor/cage style and it doesn't fog nearly as much as the full bubble. it has less visor so it sits above your nose where the full bubble the glass ends below your nose and fogs like crazy
