Blackstone Flat-Bottom V Thread
asgoodasdead replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
yeah, i went from 5/8" to 100/50 or X7 and the difference was insane. almost fell on my face and had to skate really carefully for my first few shifts til i got used to it and been flying ever since. no way i could go back to a regular hollow -

Favorite Skates of all time, top 5 (just for fun)
asgoodasdead replied to matix218's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
always been a Graf guy. previously worn 703s and 704. currently wearing F60 which is the predecessor to 703/704 and they're definitely my favorite since its the same skate but they weigh half as much -
i have these and think they look much better after 6+ months of wear than they did brand new
-
i sprayed the cage portion of my Tron combo white which i think helps with looking down at your feet. never been a fan of black cages
-
i have the Tron and love it. been using it for 3+ years and it barely ever fogs
-
if your skates are fitted and baked properly your foot shouldn't be sliding? or am i crazy
-
i use the hybrid visor/cage style and it doesn't fog nearly as much as the full bubble. it has less visor so it sits above your nose where the full bubble the glass ends below your nose and fogs like crazy

hey, i play beer league TWICE a week 😁 but i wear $700 off the shelf skates i picked up for $300. can't justify spending a grand on skates for beer league -
always a Graf guy too. 703/704. just got a pair of made in Switzerland F60s for $300 shipped off Fruugo after reading that they were the 703/704 successor and they've been great so far
-
yeah i'm really interested in the process of getting custom Grafs made. also price.

my current skates are about 200grams lighter than my old skates and its a night and day difference. especially with overall leg fatigue throughout a game -
thanks. though they're obviously not original haha
-
back to back league champs. i scored 6 goals and a few assists in the last 3 games

Putting larger holders on skates (?)
asgoodasdead replied to bogeywhite's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
itll work but you'll need to add a few extra or the rivets will pull out after a while since the cobras are only drilled out for 4 front 4 back because the graf screw system is much stronger and more durable than rivets -
Putting larger holders on skates (?)

i skated on 288 holders for 17 years and recently got new skates with 280 holders(sharpened the exact same way) and there was definitely a noticeable difference/adjustment -

the Step website explains the differences. -

I used to think the exact same thing. after switching to lighter skates I couldn't believe the difference in footspeed, but more importantly leg fatigue throughout the game. should also mention that my new skates are much stiffer though which also helps -

yeah superfeet have that hard plastic arch. it softens up after a few skates, but i'd go with an insole with a lower instep or softer arch for sure. -
