  1. I've never heard of a goalie going through a catch glove every three weeks though. I thought they would use two or three a season.
  2. This is an interesting article on Halak. He says he doesn't have a practice glove, his game glove has a practice palm. Game palm is too thin for him. It also says he replaces his catch glove/trapper every three weeks. Not sure what that is about considering a glove costs about $500. Article is from 2010. https://ingoalmag.com/interviews/ask-a-pro-jaroslav-halak-on-new-gloves-and-old-coaches/
  3. They are probably all broken in, and its just personal preference in how they store them in their locker. Goalies usually break in brand new gloves during practices and use old gloves in regulation games until their new gloves are broken in.
  4. Rask on the left has two pairs or trappers and blockers, but Allen has three trappers and two blockers. When did three trappers become a need?
  5. Well, I had 16 on the team I was playing on before my surgery last fall. It was a generic no-last-name extra jersey. Recently, my team asked if anyone wanted to order jerseys before summer. I picked 27 since I plan on playing with them this coming fall. That was taken and they retire numbers that are already taken from the past.😲 I was in a true conundrum. I've never had a problem getting 27, until then. It's in my username. I actually responded to this thread a couple months ago to pick a number from 2 to 44. How foolish of me. Jagr's 68 was already taken. So, I picked 71 for Malkin. The moral of the story is, always have multiple favorite numbers. Always.
  6. Oh, every team has an exhibition game in your league?
  7. Tampa Bay were the front runner in the Eastern Conference. Tampa was first in their division, and first in the conference. You could "rationalize" the top four teams of the Eastern Conference as "front runners". Calgary was the front runner in the Western Conference. You could rationalize the top four teams of the Western Conference as front runners too.
  8. Meaningless game? That's interesting. Our league has a schedule and when your team loses twice in the playoffs, you are eliminated. Also, they are stingy on ice time (and money) and wouldn't accidentally schedule a meaningless game, i.e. game to determine 3rd place.
  9. A bunch of calls were missed in yesterday's game. Either they aren't catching them or they want to see some fights develop.
  10. Yes, I mean neither were in first place at the end of the regular season.
  11. First goals by St. Louis were nice. First goal by Boston was an interesting mid-air redirect. So far, good hockey. I wish I were there. Some interesting food is being served.
  12. Not sure if anyone is watching, but, I'm looking forward to seeing this. Neither were front-runners in the regular season.
  13. Oh. I filled out a form and they responded by e-mail. Anyway, I tried a double-radius profile. I didn't like it and went with a single radius. But, if you know what you want, they do a great job. I use them regularly.
  14. Check this out. Doesn't matter whether you have CCM or Bauer or other. Blade profiling can help you with your existing skates. https://www.noicingsports.com/copy-of-skate-profiling
  15. Get the boot size that is right for your foot. Then, get your blades radius'ed at www.noicingsports.com or some other place you trust. If you feel your stride is shorted with 263, a larger radius can fix that. Or multi-radius so that the rear section has a larger radius than the front section.
  16. I went from Warrior Bonafide medium to CCM HPUCLP medium. The Warrior fit loose. A smidge heavy but gave total coverage. The UCLP are tight-fitting but very light in weight. Padding is solid, more padding in the tailbone back area which I need/want. You pull out the tail bone protection flap and there are three big segmented sections with a PE plate on each one, like you expect to get checked from behind by Brad Marchand.
  17. Okay. Sounds interesting. It would be costly for me, travel, food and lodging, not including the $135 event fee. Hope you all have fun though.
  18. Not to sound like a complete noob/outsider, which I am, but looking at last year's event itinerary, it involved a pre-event dinner, a manufacturer product demo, a two-hour pickup game, and a post-game party. The $135 covers the pre-event dinner, ice-time, and post-game dinner. If the pick-up game is the lowest of reasons to attend, is this some mega-foodie affair?
  19. Hi, the link points to the 2018 summer jam. I see the 11th summer jam is in Chicago, IL. How much does it cost? Never been. What's the skill level? From the 2018 itinerary, there's just one two-hour game.
  20. Have you checked out www.sidelineswap.com ? Ignore that, I see you got a mask you like.
  21. Looks like they are getting closer to that chance. They have a good combination of guys this season.
  22. It's mid-May. About a month from my last post. Today, I ran 2 miles in 19 minutes 22 seconds. I was breathing hard in the last two minutes. At least my back is doing well under that duress. When I was in really good shape, I was able to run 2 miles in under 16 minutes. I'm off my old pace.
  23. I got CCM HG41 pro stock 14" gloves recently. I wear a street men's medium glove. I'm okay with classic 4-roll fit or tapered/anatomic fit though. They are stiffer in the cuff area, so if you want a lot of inward wrist flex, you might not like this model.
  24. Having watched the second and third periods for game 1, it looked like the Blues were having trouble getting traction, playing their game, being in control. You can't gauge the entire series on one game, so I hope the Blues can get back in gear for the other games.
