Fumbled a pass in front of an empty net with ten seconds left. A goal would have earned us .5 a point in the playoff total. (1 point per period, 2 for the win, total 5 per game). We had tied the 1st, won the second, and tied the third. Won the game by a goal for 4 points.

Got our middle school team's new jerseys approved by the school boosters. So I asked what the next step was, and I was directed to the treasurer who told me they had no money at this point to buy any new jerseys! Huh? How was it approved then? Arrrrrg!

From the difference in pitch, you might want to try them first and then see how you like the holder.

Mirror finish.... As I reported elsewhere, the local sharpener jacked up my BlackEdge runners by honing them. But, that said, they never had a mirror finish. It was a rather matted finish. (If I recall correctly....as they are definitely matte finish now!) DOH!

I use an old Itech boxer sort type under the Jofa/Reebok cup. I cut out the cup out of the Itech after one of the straps came undone. Works like a charm. Comfortable. I did not like the Jofa/Reebok cup as much on bare skin with a garter.

2013 Bauer Hockey Catalogue
Powerfibers replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2013 Product Catalogue Reviews
I had to laugh. I showed my 11 year old the catalog and he proclaims in a loud voice, "hey that helmet is really the Cascade Pro!" God help us! He is a gear whore and isn't even a teen yet. -

I switched from regular Step Steel to BlackEdge, and I feel the BlackEdge hold the sharpening significantly longer. Maybe 50% more?

Those are two of the nicest looking pairs of gloves I have seen. Nice pickps.

I have a band mate who had the sinus/deiviated septum surgery and he always had a million sinus infections even afterwards. It was allergies to certain foods that caused him to be succeptible to the infections and sinus congestion. He changed his diet and not only lost weight but he has had no sinus issues from then on. I have to check, but I think it was dairy and wheat or gluten causing his issues. I had never heard of such a thing.

Missed at least two chances to score and win the game tonight. Feel terrible, they were some really nice feeds right in front that I shot wide.

Good luck to you guys. Glad she is home where she belongs. Bob

Love that shell. Where'd you find that?

First cold days of winter, and the rink liner has sprung a leak! Are you kidding me?!?!

Best part of Christmas was watching my nephew try out the One95 sick we found and bought for him. His eyes lit up after the first shot off the practice pad. It was awesome! He has never had better than a forty dollar stick before. At 12 he is a pretty darn good little player.
-
Bought my nephew a junior One95 for $60 bucks. Saw the UPS truck leave and found it laying out in front of the house!

That is how they do it as I posted earlier. I paid five bucks to try sticks. None of them were the 87 flex that I wanted to try, they were all 100 flex. I still got a sense of what I liked...I guess. If I could have grabbed an 87 or even 77, I would have done it in a heartbeat, but they only let you shoot what is inside the booth. I bought the 87 flex version never having shot that actual stick, and I got the five bucks back off that. Of course, if I had known there were no 87 flex sticks in any line in the booth, I might have not paid! LOL! I don't know what happens to the tester sticks. I would rather like that the sticks I buy off the rack have not been flexed or shot. I guess it is just me being funny.
-
At the local box store they have demo sticks that are always 100 flex or more! Never anything the general public would really be able to get a real feel for a stick. However, if I knew that people had possibly used a stick off the rack before I bought it, I would never buy a stick there.
-
Locally, they charge five bucks for ten minutes and you get that back when you buy a stick. One person at time, no shoes allowed. And this is not even a rapid shot, it is a small boarded in area with net and targets/goalie cut out.

Blade Alignment to help Pronation when skating
Powerfibers replied to BlackIce's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
That is interesting. I never really considered that. I will ask him about if he has soreness. The problem with a ten year old is that sometimes they say they are wearing the best skate ever, and they are talking about look or name brand and not performance. I would definitely look into a different route in footbed if these are not the best ones for his arch type. I will say though, that he is skating better than ever. From the outside, the mods seem to have made a difference. Thanks for the insight. -
Blade Alignment to help Pronation when skating
Powerfibers replied to BlackIce's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
When I brought my son up to Front Row in Thorold (from Buffalo), he was told that he had flat feet. He was fit for Eastons which the fitter said were good for his foot shape and arch. Yellow Suoer Feet in. Then, they proceeded to watch him walk and they removed and adjusted his holders. I could watch even in store as he became much more stable walking up and down the aisles. I believe they adjusted only the right holder (this is eerily similar to what you have described). Anyway, he has had the skates for the last three months, has never skated better, and loves the fit and feel. I believe the gentleman's name as Armando? I highly recommend him and the shop. I was actually going to bring my skates in and see what he thought, but I did not. We are very happy with the skates and fitting. I also appreciated the fact that he fit us in a $199 junior skate and the price or name brand was never an issue the whole time. I just said give him what fits him best, he plays AA, and he gets a lot of ice time. We could have paid a lot more.
