  1. He had 5:55 of icetime and a chance in the shootout to show something.
  2. A bottle of Dom at your nicer places will at least be 2 bills and the sky's the limit depending on what you're getting. Figure about 4 glasses per bottle and you've already spent about $1,000 just on one round for the table.
  3. It isn't as hard as you'd think for a team to run up such a tab at one of your finer restaurants. The wine is where you really get killed.
  4. That is the worst feeling. What was he doing going after a heavyweight like Ehrhoff? Good to see the spunk out of the kid. Edit: Any truth to the comment made by the Sharks announcers that he hasn't exactly seen eye to eye with Murray?
  5. Update: Helmet: Easton Pro S9 Gloves: Muskoka 980 Shoulders: N/A Elbow: Bauer 8000 Pants: Bauer 6000 Shin: Bauer 6000 Skates: Pro stock Vector Pros Sticks: Bauer One90 Oshawa General returns, 87 flex, P12, smooth w/grip
  6. And the Mrs. and teammates accuse me of having too many sticks.
  7. From last night it looks like Kariya forgot to tell David about keeping your head up at the blue line.
  8. Looks like he's not going - http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=224834&hubname=nhl Hopefully that means he's valuable enough to get regular ice time. The Blues have nothing to gain by letting him play in the WJC.
  9. Does it really matter? It isn't like he's wearing a pair they found out back at the LHS.
  10. Great role player, but he isn't a top flight goal scorer. When you're down a couple goals, those are the guys you need on the ice. Maybe the Blues top guys are the kind who do more with less.
  11. A few years back there was a girl I worked with who was out for a few days. When she came back I went with my standard joke, "What was up, bad reaction to the meds?" Her answer, "Yeah, how'd you know?"
  12. That's fine, dude. It's the people who have to walk around and compulsively touch anything that catches their sight that bother me - the one's who obviously have no interest in a piece of equipment beyond "Wow, that's a big number on the price tag, there." There are adults that come into the store that display the same level of maturity and discipline as the kids who come in and drag their jacket zippers along the shafts of the sticks on the racks. When people come into the shop simply to touch shit, it bothers me - especially since it ends-up in the wrong place 75% of the time. I think there's a prescription that can help you with that.
  13. You'd think Weight, Kariya, or Tkachuk could do the same for David. Bourque took care of Samsonov, Lapointe did the same for Bergeron, the list goes on like that in Boston.
  14. I, for one, am disappointed with the veterans of the St. Louis Blues. Someone should be taking the kid under their wing, maybe put the kid up, pick him up on the way to the rink, etc. Razz the kid at the rink, sure, but make sure he gets there first.
  15. Helmet: Intake Visor: Itech HS 22 pro cut Shoulders: N/A Elbows: Bauer 8000 Pants: Bauer 6000 Shins: Bauer 6000 Gloves: Muskoka 980 Skates: Vector Pro (pro return) now with Tuuk + Sticks: Synergy SE grip, '05 Stealth grip both Iggy 100
  16. Could be he hasn't developed the defensive awareness to be used 4 on 4 yet.
  17. Interesting to see Tanguay and Sundin names on blade patterns. I wasn't aware that either of them had been using Mission sticks.
  18. That deal makes no sense. "We're very happy with the play of this offensive-minded rookie forward. With that in mind we are going to deal a shot-blocking defenseman for another offensive-minded forward."
  19. He was trying to dangle, that wasn't a strength move. A nice shift, for sure, but when going 1 on 3, not really the smartest play. I forget who the other defenseman was on the play but he should have recognized the situation and came across. Honestly, David could very easily have gotten himself knocked into next week with that move. He definitely doesn't look out of place. I wonder how long until Hinote isn't filling his spot in the last 2 minutes of a 1 goal game.
  20. Funny anectdote. My brother and I are in a fantasy hockey league and from time to time we'll send each other suggestions on unknowns who might be worth picking up. Yesterday he sends me a note suggesting, you guessed it, David Perron. I sent back and was like, "yeah, I've heard of him."
  21. Are we supposed to be impressed or intimidated by the cursing? Of course not, why would you feel that way? It's not directed at you or anyone on this board unless the customers use this board. I don't. I was just trying to figure out the genius of the vulgarity laced tirade on a message board frequented by kids as well as adults. There is a difference between the quick flex that mimics the timing of taking a shot and the flex and hold that folks do. As for woodies, I always gave them a quick test back in the day.
  22. Are we supposed to be impressed or intimidated by the cursing?
  23. Not at all. If you watched any of Gretz's games the last few years of his career then you would understand why it is the Gretzky rule. Refs probably got so used to giving him assists in his early years that they just couldn't break the habit. Well, that goal exemplifies the adage, "They don't ask how, just how many." Congrats to the kid, he now has 1 more NHL goal than I do.
  24. One of those "phantom assists" they've been talking about so much. The definition of a "phantom assist" or, as I like to call it, the Gretzky rule, is when a player is not involved at all in the scoring play yet somehow gets credited with a helper.
