Great role player, but he isn't a top flight goal scorer. When you're down a couple goals, those are the guys you need on the ice. Maybe the Blues top guys are the kind who do more with less.

Not at all. If you watched any of Gretz's games the last few years of his career then you would understand why it is the Gretzky rule. Refs probably got so used to giving him assists in his early years that they just couldn't break the habit. Well, that goal exemplifies the adage, "They don't ask how, just how many."
