  1. From the link, it sounds like the guy definitely abused his body. He isn't the first rocker to go out this way and, sadly, he won't be the last.
  2. I don't know if I can agree that the defense has been good enough most games. They are still coughing up the puck way too much. Hunwick is folding under strong forechecks and just appears hesistant most nights. As for regretting the Kessel deal, I don't think so. They've got some nice draft picks to work with, especially with Toronto tanking, and who knows if one of those becomes a nice piece of a Kovalchuk trade.
  3. If Jay Miller and Chris Nilan could share a bench, anyone can.
  4. Kessel was in the perfect situation last season. He had Savard feeding him the puck and Lucic creating the space. That is what a player like Kessel needs to be truly successful.
  5. Wheeler wouldn't be the option, he may have size but he doesn't play big.
  6. Agreed. Look at a guy like Bourque, he was only a few seasons in when his fighting days were essentially over. When you have a guy who plays those kind of minutes against the other team's best then you don't want him watching 5 minutes here and there. These guys earn the respect as youngsters and then nobody really looks to go with them. As for the recommendation of putting a Colton Orr type of player out there with Kessel, that is worse than letting a top defenseman work him over a little. Colton Orr will never hit Phil streaking up the wing with a homerun pass or thread a pass through legs to him on the doorstep.
  7. I don't know, that little shove at Vokoun looked the the evil side is starting to win. Over/under on his next suspendible offense; 5 games.
  8. It has been 1 year today since I got the paddles in the cath lab. So far so good. Some folks might put this in the Venting Spot.
  9. You didn't miss much on Saturday.
  10. Tigers pissed. Hes catapulted beyond "Belichek in 2007" levels of vengeance and into uncharted waters. He may not make as much money this year, but he will destroy the field without a doubt. I'd say its a 1 in 3 he pulls off the Slam. Please, there's speculation that he may not even come back in time for the Masters. Tiger won't return until the PGA sets rules that he can't be asked anything and nobody outside the ropes can say anything. Until that happens, he'll be texting his little chickies hiding within his gated community.
  11. I was wondering what all the call ups were about.
  12. Thomas has been fighting it for a little while. I think whatever was up with his hand is worse than they have let on and is affecting his play. It seems a lot more pucks are popping off of the catching glove.
  13. The thing is, the guy who prevented Boucher from making a clean play was his own sliding defenseman who as far as I could tell put himself there.
  14. JR and I both happened to be in Philly on the same night so we hit up Pats and Ginos. Just to compare the two. My favorite cheese steak is from a local joint, it's better than both of them. I've got a buddy that makes a killer teriyaki cheesesteak and, possibly even better, cheesesteak calzone. Alas, one heart procedure and those days are over but I know exactly where my one cheesesteak a year will be. Editted. What am I saying, it ain't no cheesesteak, it is a steak and cheese.
  15. Please, I've had cheesesteaks in Philly and was not impressed. That melted cheese sauce just ain't the way to go.
  16. Hopefully, it doesn't end your playing days but I think this story should serve as a valuable lesson to folks out there.
  17. Great news!! I think the "sweet spot" is an understatement on this one... Thanks a lot guys. Means a lot. We plan on celebrating at Dave and Buster's sometime in the near future, as that's what we did the night before she started her chemo...family outing there That's great, now you just have to solve that whole living in New Jersey thing.
  18. I've had a night to sleep on it and I still don't get why Sobotka's "first goal" last night was disallowed.
  19. Depending on how deep your league is, Lucic is probably not a high value pick. I would have projected him for a hair over 20 goals heading into this season so there are definitely a lot better forward options out there. As for Rask and Thomas, one strategy that I try to use in fantasy hockey is that I'll try to get both goalies on a team that I expect to have strong goaltending stats, that way you can start one of them and the other is your backup, protecting you no matter who gets the starting nod. On to last night's game, I thought the B's played better, for the most part, than they did on Saturday. They wilted a little under the Toronto attack early in the third but other than that played a pretty solid game. I'll have to say, the third was one of the most fun periods to watch in a while.
  20. I'll never leave and will most likely die no more than 15 miles from where I was born, a true New Englander. As for the B's, they are having too much trouble scoring and the D is having way too many unforced giveaways to expect them to make any noise past the first round. Now, if the D shapes up and they put a bonafide scorer on Savard's wing then maybe we'll have something to talk about. Absent of that, the B's will be a decent regular season team that gets bumped in the first round.
  21. . I wonder if Gretz or Mario would have posted like this had the web been around for them.
  22. I'm guessing he was talking about the black coating.
  23. Not too bad, you definitely feel the difference on the glide. I could be one profile refresh from loving the FBV.
