Just the opposite for me. Longtime Supreme guy who just switched to Vapor. MX3, 1S, and 2S Pro all had injected facing/eyelets which I really liked. With the Ultrasonic they went traditional facing/eyelets as part of making a distinct differentiation between the two top tiered skates. Have My Bauer Ultrasonics which I really liked. Having the ability to skate in the Machs I felt that the amp facing with the insert between the second and third eyelet made the skate feel too flexible for me when compared to the Ultrasonics. The injected eyelets on the 3X Pro and 5X Pro are tough on cloth laces until the roughness wears down. Haven't really seen that on the Hyperlite and Hyperlite 2. The cutouts in the injected in the upper portion of the Hyperlites also allows for better wrap than the those of the 5X Pro.

CCM bought STEP a few years ago. I don't see a market for a new holder. After all, how many players in the NHL wearing Trues are skating with True holders?

The original Bauer SpeedPlate was good since it was thin and was thermoformable. Down side was the front forefoot section tended to curl and over time the material became brittle and would crack. The 2nd generation didn't work well at all. Lately both Bauer and CCM have gone with super thin footbeds in the high end skates. Likely to to have better direct contact with the blade and ice.

Yes, you could do that if you are not interested in the stiffer front tower that the PowerFly holder offers.

Not worth the potential long term issues. Just get new steel.

I felt the original one piece Super Tacks and AS3 fit the same to me. I skated in the original; and really liked it but never skated in the AS3.

IMO, no. Not a fan of how the fit system plays within the ASV-Pro line.

When you look at the construction today some of the lower tiered sticks are great values.

Echoing what Stewie said. I've flown out of Boston many times with gear and have never had an issue with either Delta or JetBlue. In Boston you normally have to bring your gear to the oversized station after checking in.

I like the Mach, but more so for the CURV in the forearm while I like the ASV Pro for the D3O in the elbow. The Bauer has their DCT but I feel D3O is a nicer material.

Looks like True is marketing the HZRDUS skate for power and the Catalyst for agility. Appears as if they are following Bauer and CCM. If Bauer was worried about True they could just release an updated version of the Easton Mako. If D'Cosi ever materializes it will be interesting to see how that affects True.

KOR. MLX, Easton Mako. and VH/True were all niche skates. Probably expecting the same with D'Cosi if and when it launches.

Bad idea. If you have Step or a bunch of other steel for LS Edge holders just stick with that holder.

I haven't gotten around to weighing the Hyperlite 2 skate, but last year when the Mach released I weighed the Mach and Hyperlite, both size 8 Fit 2 without steel and both weighed the same.

I currently have Ultrasonics and ASV Pros. When I skated in the Machs I don't know if it was just the pair I had, but I didn't care for how the Amp Flex facing felt. To me it felt softer than the Ultrasonic and I just felt a little less stable with hard skating. Hands down though it is one great looking skate.

Trying to picture how the holes between a 263 LS Edge and a 271 SB XS lined up without having to drill any new holes. 272 Edge and 271 XS share the same rivet hole pattern. What Fit are your Machs?

Some very good points made. Bottom line is that the goal of any company is to maximize profits. Bauer at one point in time used licensed materials which come at a cost. Seems like these days they continue to look for alternatives which are often hit or miss.

How well did you deburr the skates?

Probably more to do with the current Pulse and Carbonlite steel not being compatible with the Fly holder. Lot of folks now have many sets of profiled steel and they would rather not have to ditch their investment. Also anyone ordering a custom Mach can opt for the new holder as well.

Guess my question would be how much better is the fit/comfort with the custom X over the retail? Both the My Bauer ReAkt and CCM Tacks X are pricey ($550/$580 USD). The majority of consumers don't even want to pay $220 for the ReAkt 150.

$350 is still cheaper than the Tacks X and Hyperlite 2.

Looking at the FT6 Pro and ASV-Pro skate I'm not seeing any major structural changes between the 2 boots. Not knocking CCM but this new JetSpeed looks like just a little less stiff Tacks.
