Blackstone Flat-Bottom V Thread
JR Boucicaut replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
THat is very strange. And I didn't even stay at the "equivalent" bite angle, I actually went shallower. -
IF you have checked it recently I uploaded the entire thing. So, the 60 is deeper than the xxxx? A size up would mean a deeper skate, it's pretty obvious. Can you order a custom skate a size down? That is, get a 60 that fits like a xxxx? Why would you do a custom skate order to fit like another skate? How about to fit your foot? Think it's time for a vacation.

We've already covered it...the 50 is very close to the XXXX. It has the same tongue as the XXXX. Same foam. Composite outsole. Same liner as the X:60 (the Hydra red part) Very good skate. Ok, thanks. The liner I was most curious about because it says hydra max on both the x:50 and the x:60, but from what you're saying the x:50 doesn't have the double liner, the abrasion resitant part. When you say same foam you're refering to the same foam as in the x:60, I hope. Nope, the 50 says Hydra. Not HydraMax. Um, no. Seriously, look at the catalogue, read the specs on the skate. Then read last year's. You will get your answer. It becomes very frustrating when we set up an avenue for you to do your research on a product and then you're still asking questions.

I asked Bauer customs dept about that and the rep said that they will not be available for custom until Dec 1. This was a few weeks ago. I have to ask her a few things, but the woman I usually deal with is on vacation, so I'll ask her Monday. Dave will answer your questions, he called about an order I had submitted last week.

BS. One skate is going to fit you better than the other. The skates have a distinct fit. We go through this every year, people get skates just to get them, they don't fit, then they badmouth the skate. Ever notice I only do a Bauer skate review every two years?

They are now. Believe 4/1 was the change date.

It's truly ridiculous. -
Just saw the skate for the first time. Combination of the rep in FL thinking that I'd take a picture of it so he wouldn't show me the skate when he was in town (that was so 5 yrs ago, seriously ) and not working in retail anymore, I had zero exposure to this skate physically. It looks really good actually. LHS did not have a 10.5 and while I know I won't fit in it, I'm curious to see how the liner feels on the foot. The foam feels awesome when you squeeze on it. Tongue's a bit more substantial than the previous offerings.

So I had to go to a conventional sharpening last night - been having some holder isues with my X02 (which Blackstone is taking care of, always A+ for service) and so I got off the ice and went into the shop and sharpened it to my old 3/4" ROH. It seriously felt like I was skating in mud. Feet felt glued to the ice, legs were straining. Then got a concussion. Yay. -
Or the other way around? Yeah, because Easton had a history of silver skates with red and black accents...yeah, that's it.

The problem is that Warrior's 15" is a 14" with a longer cuff and fingers - not a 5 roll. If that weren't the case, I'd say buy the glove then get the cuff chopped off aftermarket. I'm about to say screw it and try them. I'll see if they have any in stores here to try on but if not, I may blind buy. If worse comes to worse someone would surely pay a hefty sum to get something with my name on the cuff. Lots of 'tards on eBay. Okay, let me know then.

Pro Tacks Reeboks are on my short list of gloves to try out. I'm staying away from Warrior/MIA made gloves. If those are 15" and you like selling at a loss, I've got a nice new Jackson to trade for those. Got 15" Lightning colors...

About the glove - wore them last night and I really like them...I was never a fan of loose-fitting gloves and I don't have any experience with Warrior gloves but these seem to fit me just right. The cuff cuts down on the "openness" of the glove as well. I had been told that they don't breathe well - but in the glove's defense it was quite warm on the ice last night.
-
Not sure if this is a "custom" glove, but definitely customized. http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index...st&p=678294

That glove came out before M-1 - that was the Injection cuff print.

I'm not flashy enough for carbon.

Pearl Mustang palms, Micronash overlay only on the right (top) hand.
-
Nah, but it doesn't bother me at all, really.
-
Special thanks to Warrior Hockey for making it happen - totally appreciated! Especially on the turnaround... Initials - love the cuff. Working in the glove as we speak. I am not sure if I am a fan of the Micronash material - we'll see how it does.

2009 Easton Catalogue
JR Boucicaut replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2009 Product Catalogue Reviews
The 4-Roll is Bauer's pro glove. Short of any customization cuff-wise, it's off the rack for pros. The E-Pro is NOT Easton's pro glove. -

Same thing I mentioned a week ago. Made a big difference for me as well. I held off putting the spare FBV-cut steel in for now after just using a stone. Before the stone I ran my fingernail down towards the bottom of each blade and could feel a small 'lip'. A couple easy passes with an Arkansas stone and it was gone. Didn't lose an edge at all after that. I plan to go into my 3rd game with them like this and evaluate afterwards. Not sure if I can make it through the next 3 or 4 weeks without changing them out, but I'd like to try it if possible. And here is where the Miracle Stone kicks in (at least in my case). Works great with water. Same thing. :) -
I thought the new collection will only become avilable as of April 10, and in stores as of April 15? Who told you that? Because that date was for the Vapor skate, not for the line. Yes.
-
Eh, I went 85 because Warrior is participating in our Long-Term Review program - if the stick is still intact I can pass it on to someone else to continue the process.
