  1. 15 years ago today, we opened the doors here. Thanks to those who have contributed to making MSH a success all these years.
  2. And that's the proper way. But the vast majority of shops just want to sharpen your skates with the least amount of effort. 1/2" is easy because it's also easy to remember. Some people don't even know what it means and probably figure there's such a thing as a full.
  3. But you're looking at it from someone who knows what they're doing and wants the best for their skaters. The truth is that most places don't want to go the extra mile, don't want to educate the customer and want to maximize their sharpening wheel's lifespan...so they offer a house cut which is typically 1/2" in the US.
  4. It's progressive. Imagine a set of steel done up at 20', then following it with a 13' but just grinding in what is zone 2, then doing a 6' just in zone 1, but having the ability to have all of those transitions blended in. Once again; all suggestions/recommendations. You can put a Q0 on a 230mm. I'm hoping to get the smaller Zups/Quads to round out the testing but haven't heard back from Prosharp about it.
  5. Registration now open:
  6. If you are wanting to attend SummerJam, please request access to the area: You will pay the entry fee upon approval. Do note that we expect a lot of requests.
  7. The holder sizes are recommendations - it tends to be a bit stricter on the triples than the quads, but now that they have 6 instead of 3, it can be finely tuned a bit better. The 50mm glide profile that you tried (Hudson V) is a custom profile that No-Icing created. The graphic above are Prosharp's stock profiles.
  8. Wasn't going to respond, but since you quoted me, I figured I'd respond. It's not any more different from a NHLer getting a couple of passes between periods. Both home machines on the market can be used to establish a hollow, but the key to longevity (and optimal performance) is to refresh the steel constantly and not let major trauma develop. It's actually the ones doing full grinds all the time trying to remove major nicks who are replacing their rings more often.
  9. That's how the home machines should be used. A refresh before every time you skate.
  10. Negative space is excess space; space you don't want in a skate.
  11. I did. Did them how I normally would custom fit other brands (which was more information than what VH was asking for at the time.) Only VH/True fitting I ever did. LOL
  12. My recommendation is to go with a lower of a 2-piece pant. And you want to go down a size as well. The Nexus shells are pant shells. The newer Supreme shells are girdle shells, and will have velcro in 3 spots; do they match up to Warrior, that I can't confirm.
  13. 520 is the old Supra pant. 7000 was the Jofa 7000 pant.
  14. Personal experience. Hence why we're doing this. Your mileage will vary. There is not a "one size fits all" approach to this.
  15. Your text was white on a black background. We received two tickets about it. Perhaps you may not know how you did it, but I corrected it.
  16. Pure's plain pucks were Rubena, distributed through A&R. To the OP - no need to highlight your text in black.
  17. It’s a good puck. We’ve used the branded Howie’s puck for our past 3 events. We’ve used their pucks for 6 years.
  18. Howie’s used Lindsay before their branded ones.
  19. They're not. The Sox are. If we had stuck to the original date (Aug 4) then yes.
  20. Please register so that we can know who you are.
  21. Happy to announce that we will be hosting the 11th Annual MSH SummerJam in Chicago, IL on Saturday July 27th! We will be skating on the Blackhawks' practice ice at MB Ice Arena. Since it's a new city for us, we decided to start really early on it. If interested in the event, please post here to express your interest.
  22. Roller boots require the same or more material/stiffness than an ice boot. Inline frames put more stress on a sole than an ice holder.
  23. The former. I make sure they're even first (cross grind on Prosharp in tandem) then apply the profile. You may want to invest in Custom Skateworks' profiling jig to get both sets even. I still use it on the Prosharp - they provide a magnetic tool to hold both sets, but with the CSW jig there's a bit more weight to it.
  24. For example, the Prosharp section. Perhaps in 2019 we'll see more brands work with us.
