  1. Awesome, thank you. Hopefully it's the answer I want to hear, haha. Why is there such a huge rise in these kinds of curves? I don't get it. The Mako gloves and shoulders look super interesting. Also the 'pro' line looks good. I might have to give those shins a look.
  2. Got new pants. RS customs. U of Maine colorway.
  3. I haven't seen this information posted anywhere (possibly under wraps still?), but is their a release window for the Mako skate? Spring?
  4. Sad they're ditching the Heatley. Best curve they offered for me.
  5. HatTrick is in the same boat I am. Out here, there's now only one major shop, and they carry only select lines of skates... so I don't actually know if they'll be carrying the Mako skate. I've asked and they don't know. Worst case scenario is I buy a size 7.5 and an 8 from Icewarehouse and then return the pair that doesn't fit. I could also go over the border to The Hockey Shop, but I don't have an enhanced ID or passport (yet).
  6. Ideally, sure. Out here though, kind of a tough thing to do.
  7. These can't be released soon enough. Need a new pair. flyers10, you're sure about the sizing aspect? I wore an 8 in S15's and S17's, but a 7 (with some room in the toes, admittedly) in MLX. I'd probably go with a 7.5 to be sure.
  8. Those are wonderful.
  9. Do you still have most of those, mack?
  10. Couldn't really think of a place to put this, so I'm putting it where most pictures go. I was looking through some old files and found this. I took this when I was in Kamloops for a tournament back in 2004 (wound up winning it). Man, these were the days. If I could have bought more of those sticks I'd be such a happy camper.
  11. I wouldn't say inaccurate, nor accurate. It was just like any other companies size chart. For example: I wear a 7 in MLX. 7/7.5 in Bauer, 8 in Easton.
  12. Sounds like the skate that MLX wanted to mass produce in the first place. Wonderful.
  13. Ah, I heard wrong then. DS, what's your impression of the skate? Or are you under embargo for a bit...
  14. Smallest size being offered is a 6.
  15. Sure looks that way.
  16. I was trying to allude more towards the feel of that fit, rather than what the fit actual is because honestly I don't know what fit profile it has or was built in mind for. Thanks for explaining it further.
  17. There is no general fit for the MLX skate, that was the whole point. The idea behind them was to create a personalized fit for each person. Trying to put the skate on without heating them up first was like sticking your foot into a very small wood box filled with splinters. Heating them up turned them into comfy loafers that you could sink your feet into. For a lot of people though the skate didn't have enough volume or just wasn't wide enough. I lucked out by just switching the insoles and removing the heel lift on the insole I put in. Others... not so much. I am also not the perfect person to ask for this. I don't try on a huge range of skates because I know what works for me and stick as close to it as I can. As I said, the fit is not comparable to anything. It's still a hockey skate, sure, but nothing else fits like it.
  18. The fit isn't comparable. That said, my S15's (which was the skate that fit me the best at the time) fit me better than the S17's did. MLX fit me miles better than the S15.
  19. A really good look at the tendon guard.
  20. Actually I got really lucky. With their stock insole the skates killed my feet. I was getting too much pressure on my mid-foot. I switched to yellow superfeet and removed the small black heel lift underneath it. Bam, perfect fit. They did try and accommodation people who asked for a deeper boot. I don't have any insight into that process though. Hopefully Chadd and JR will have more luck with the boot this time around with Easton developing this boot.
  21. The original MLX skate wasn't terrible deep if I remember. A lot of people had volume issues. However that was because they only had one boot mold and couldn't mass produce. With Easton running the show I imagine they'll have more widths available and they are offering half sizes. The Mako boot also appears to be slightly taller and deeper than its predecessor. Guess we'll find out more after the trade show!
  22. It's also a matter of trust - out here in the PNW I don't trust anyone other than myself and my old manager (not owner) to touch/work on my skates. But that's besides the point. I wonder how much longer Easton will wait till some actual solid information comes out.
  23. I don't disagree, I'm just also considering that since the skate is basically an upgraded MLX that the same way people heated up that boot would also translate over to the Mako in that they would be able to use their own oven. Though I imagine there is probably a warranty thing about that now since it's Easton selling the skate. Personally, I'll use my own oven since I'm more comfortable with that method anyway.
  24. You baked MLX skates in your home oven. They were designed that way. I can't imagine the Mako would be any different. 16 total minutes, 8 minutes per side.. Flip them over half way.
  25. You shouldn't need a machine. The materials used in the Mako will literally form around your foot; at least that's how my MLX's worked. It is literally like wearing a pair of shoes. A little awkward to get used to, but I can't really go back to a 'traditional' skate. There's just too much negative space in every other boot for me.
