  1. I was at the Islanders retail shop in the practice rink the other day talking to the manager - I know him for many years. He was telling me that tons and tons of skates get tuned back by players. And these are all custom. And you know which one had the most returns....????
  2. As the owner of custom Bauer skates I will echoe @JunkyardAthletic It took work to dial them in. Pain, punches and preserveareance. But the work was worth it and they are now far better than any retail skate could ever be. And I’d also bet, dollars to donuts, better than Trues.
  3. Guess sliced bread is still the greatest invention!!
  4. I coached kids for about 10 years and always felt y job was first and foremost to give every player an experience they enjoyed and second that they grew up a bit and earned about themselves and the game. To that end I always made it a habit to make sure minutes were evenly distributed. As the kids got older the only caveat was if we were trying to win a playoff game we might make some power play or penalty kill choices late in a game but thats about it. To me if I played weaker kids at the end of a game down a man early in the season than they knew I trusted them and they learned to to do it when we really needed them to late in the season. That type of growth is priceless.
  5. Thanks! $23 dollar alibaba special!!! Thanks @xstartxtodayx!!! Finally making a LI MSH connection!! Thanks for making me look good out there!!
  6. Thats great!!! Keep up the healthy path! Once you get there you should look into Isagenix. 2 shakes a day, healthy dinner. Cleanse/Fast twice a month for two days each.
  7. wow... may I ask what you are doing? I did Isagenix and it was amazing... gotta get back to it.
  8. Lunges, squats, dry land training with sprints and shuttle runs! I expect you faster than greased lightning by SJ!!!
  9. I agree with you. Most beer league players dont have the awareness to be in that position or the speed to get up and down.
  10. we try to keep the wingers up on the point and let the center work down low. The guys that understand positioning better, when they play wing (weak side away from puck), will drop to the high slot and allow the center to double team the puck down low.
  11. At 10 years old my best advice to you is to transition him to a mid level big brand skate that will be around for a while... he will get used to it. He's 10!!!
  12. Been around here for along time and at my age I’ve learned some important lessons in life. One of them is that people who call others names aren’t worth my time.
  13. see above... not an error. They are using masking tape to support the footbed. I just don't get how that stands up over time.
  14. Ok, have to jump in... MASKING TAPE???? LOL... No... seriously... BAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
  15. Actually I'm on vacation this week... but fair enough and I do appreciate your participation. I've said my piece. I'm not trying to knock the skate. I just think too many have drank the kool aide and need to be more objective. I'm done with the debate. Bored.
  16. @Zac911, was anything added to the footbed?
  17. So you know, I have paid for better fit... I get it. I have custom Bauer V-cuts. I spent more than I would have sent on True skates. I will tell you why... I was concerned about the durability and workmanship issues, the weight and the overall stiffness of the skate. So I am not againts guys paying to get the fit they want. As a consumer I expect certain quality for my money. That being said, I do think that the vast, vast majority of people do not need to spend what I did or go custom in any way. They need a good fitter and enough product to try on. Thats why I think all customs - no matter the manufacturer - are a niche skate unless the price drop to 500-600. In regard to your last sentence - no one accept that from Bauer or CCM. Why does VH/True get a pass??? Its not the leap of faith part, nor, for me, is it the cost... it's the concerns over what I have seen and heard. I think there are some things that still need to be addressed on the skate. I also don't expect you to say anything different - you work for them. Can you elaborate, exactly, on what material was put into the footbed to address the concerns there?
  18. One reason.. I want to make this thread better and more objective. And he was referring to True regarding added layer.
  19. Because we hear all of these things about the durability problems and quality control and the weight etc... and then everyone comes on this group and says "but NOW its great." So this is like another of those to me... so NOW they added an inner layer. It's all great now. I don't know... the truth is that it's a bit cultish and guys are always talking this skate up like its the be all end all but it's a niche skate and it has issues. I wouldn't have a problem with any if that though if the thread were fair and balanced. It is not. By the way, you said they added this inner layer to correct the footbed/rivet issue. But this guys skates are new. Maybe they didn't do a great job fixing it? Hard to say but sounds very possible,
  20. well then, I guess that solves all their problems.
  21. Howdy, No. Hoping to address a bit of that here. -DM
