  1. My kid wears a Medium Re-Akt Helmet + Large CCM Fitlite Titanium cage, and I wear a Medium Easton E700 + Large Bauer Re-Akt Titanium cage (lightest combo available)
  2. Per, yes I would like to take you up on the offer, just in case... I sent you an email with my info on the kickstarter@marsblade and we look forward to try out the holders after this weekend's State final...
  3. FWIW my son's Sz 263 Marsblade holder weighs 380g each. We're waiting until after this weekend's State finals to install the Marsblade on his pair of CCM FT1, then we will post a review, but only after at least 3-5 hrs of ice time, in order to give it a fair assessment. His current Sz 7 CCM FT1, with Massive Blade and Speed Plate 2, weights in at 826g.
  4. Not familiar with Bauer's P90T, is it similar or Bauer's version of CCM's P30?
  5. I had the chance to preview a pair of CCM FT2 goalie skates which had the XS holder, which has.a dial near the back of the holder... Very well design and built, felt solid and strong while dialing, a pin which then protrudes out of the back of the holder and steel can then be pulled off... Not bad, although I did have to ask the rep to show me how to pull steel off (steel seemed 'stuck')... I'm sure with a little practice, holders would be easy to operate.
  6. What kind of holder is that? XS?
  7. My kid wore Mako's from age 10-13 and just recently went to CCM FT1 and the transition was seamless and he said he actually likes the FT1's better than Makos.
  8. I've been following and waiting for the release of Marsblade ice holders and personally, I've seen enough testimonies from reputable skaters/coaches to take the leap of faith. I'm getting them for my bantam son and I believe that if the player is already a strong skater, Marsblade will help take them even further. I highly doubt a small company like Marsblade could afford paying Backstroms and Johansson to promote their products. I truly believe those whose have tried them were genuinely impressed with the new technology. I know there are lots of skeptics out there and I was one initially as well, but when Kickstarter started going live, I was early enough to get a set for $179 so no big deal if they don't work as advertised. I'm hoping I won't be disappointed and my kid will find them helpful. He is very excited and really looks forward to trying them next summer. As for the NHL approval, I'm 50/50 on that... League could easily say it's 'cheating' and not allow pros to wear them or it could even be the existing big boys CCM Bauer protecting themselves and influencing league to ban them, who knows. But I can see that these could take the game to an entire new level and make the game even quicker and pros can further showcase their speed and skillset. My kid is currently on Mako's but did demo a pair of FT1's at CCM Skill Camp and did look quicker, despite only wearing them for an hour, without baking plus a mystery hollow... True/FT1 + Marsblade = dream come true?
  9. True VH boot + Marsblade Ice Holder = Ultimate skate
  10. Warrior QRL Custom finally arrived after 8 weeks. Warrior orange came out a little more red than I was anticipating but overall very happy with them!
  11. My kid is on his second pair of Mako's and never has an issue. He does have Powerfoot insert and stock insert. He does skip the top set of eyelet, and ties his skate snug, not tight. Or more like slightly looser at bottom eyelets and snug at the 2nd -3rd set...
  12. My 11yo peewee son loves his Powerfoot in his Mako M8's. As mentioned above, Adrenaline Design has some of the best customer service I've ever seen, in any industry, and seriously, for $20 or so, why not give it a shot!? During practice yesterday, they were doing lots of corner battle drills and my son is already one of the best player on the team at protecting the puck and battling along the boards. A coach for the bantams, who hasn't seen him play lately, watched him winning just about every 50/50 and hanging on the puck, came up to me and complimented how nicely he's coming along... Ever since he's been wearing his Powerfoot inserts, I've noticed my kid's skating has improved so much along with his new Mako's. My kid tells me that he feels more in touch with the ice and his crossovers, edges & crosby's are stronger than ever. Very happy with my purchase of the Powerfoot and I'll be getting a pair for myself soon!
  13. So it's safe to use the Sweet Stick on FBV to extend time between sharpening? I've been reluctant to use the Sweet Stick on my FBV 100/50...
  14. The bars on the Re-Akt cage do seem a tiny bit thicker/rounder than the 9900's. The overall cage design is different. Re-Akt cage is longer, maybe a bit narrower and the bar placement are slightly different, the color is also more of a matte finish and slightly 'darker' or less silver-ish, but I haven't noticed anything negative on the ice, just lighter, with a better chin cup.
  15. Scored a brand new Medium Re-Akt Cage (160g) on ebay for $47 shipped. Paired it with my Medium S19 and total weight is 472g... Gave my old 9900 medium cage (224g) to my son and he pairs it with a Small 11k and the weight of the combo is 704g. This is possibly the lightest cage/helmet combo money can buy...
  16. Only midget AAA gets to wear the forum blue and gold IIRC, all the other Jr Kings wear the current jersey.
  17. helmet: CCM V10, NBH 9500 Cage gloves: one90 sticks: NBH XXX Lite 77flex P92, Easton SE Grip Int 65flex Forsberg shoulders: Bauer Vapor 6 pants: Easton S9 elbows: Easton S5 shins: CCM Tacks 892 skates: NBH XXX pro-stock
  18. Product: 13 inch NBH One90 Glove User Background: Beer League Center/Left wing. 2-3 times per week. The One90's are replacing my Easton S9s. Fit: 9/10 I've pretty much always been an Easton glove guy, and now my 3rd and latest pair being S9s. The last pair of Bauer I had (Vapor 4 or 5, not sure) I hated. Tried the One90s at LHS and remembered how snugged they were (as compared to S9s, One90s are a much 'tighter' fit while S9s now seem super loose) The fingers are more flexible and separated than any other gloves I've ever tried on. You can really stretch your palm open and your fingers can move freely. The cuffs do kinda flair out a little but I don't find it obstructive at all. Fingers seem to be longer than the S9s (which are on the shorter side IIRC?) and overall really hugs to your hands. I do find that little piece of Dri-fit or whatever it is NBH tucked into the gloves, a bit annoying and I might just cut that out, not sure yet. So if you like tighter gloves, you should try on the One90s. Weight: 10/10 Very close to the S9s. Both are obviously light enough for me and the drying time of the One90s is good. Hopefully they don't get smelly like the S9s (Bio-dri liner helped little I think). Protection: 10/10 My league has a bunch of pretty good guys and they're all respectful therefore it's not as chippy as some other leagues. I would presume the One90s are well adequate for beer league play. Durability: 10/10 I need more time to really test ONe90s durability. But they seem to be built solid. Intangibles: 10/10 So far, the One90s are light, snug, protective and offer very good feel of the stick. These gloves needed literally zero break-in time for me and I'm very impressed with the overall design and functionality. Overall: 9.5/10 I thought these were too funky looking at first but right after I slid my hands in, I was hooked. Glad I made the switch (S9s served me very well and technically I didn't need new gloves, but I got the One90s for $50 NWOT on ebay so it's all good) and hopefully these hold up. But I would definitely recommend these for players looking for a tighter fit gloves.
