  1. He has done things that have contributed to peace. But has he done enough to warrant the prize? I just dont see it. I tend to think that prize is won with specific actions or work in a specific area or problem, with specific positive results. I think this was awarded on a "feel good" basis. But hey, I dont think this prize has all that much credibility anymore......I mean cmon.....Gore and Arafat? LOL
  2. Actually my roommate is a sports medicine major and a lot of professionals are now questioning the merits of stretching. some of them suggest that all your doing is increasing the odds of a muscle pull, and instead you should warm up with stages of more and more exertion until you get to game speed. I was told the same thing. It is better to warm up the muscles by jogging before you hit the ice or something similar. Also was told to get out on the ice and skate a bit and work up a sweat before any stretching....and this guy told me that he isnt really sure that stretching even after a warm up is even a good idea.
  3. What happens if a team goes above the salary cap? Is there a penalty of some sort assessed? Maybe a luxury tax? Or is it simply not allowed?
  4. Anyone listen to the new Alice In Chains CD? 14 yrs since the last one. The single "Check my Brain" sounds good.
  5. They actually stated on the telecast last night that the reason was they just installed new boards/glass. They didnt say anything about the olympics. It seemed to me, in my limited experience, that the glass pieces were wider, as in stantions (sic?) were placed further apart.
  6. All that hate is gonna burn you up kid It keeps me warm at night. Wolvereens!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Im going to try FBV. I play on this guys 40+ team....he has cash (owns some type of luxury yacht company)....he pays the whole team fee for two teams. He bought a blackstone sharpener with FBV and keeps it at his office, and sharpens skates for any teammate that wants it. Most of the guys on the team have the FBV and they say, after you get used to it, is great. They said it seems like you have no edge at first...just gliding...then as soon as you need and edge, there it is.
  8. I believe if the Easton 4-roll is in custom colors (other than all black or all navy) then it is the Canadian made "pro" level custom glove....not the stock E-Pro. So $159 is an appropriate price I believe.
  9. Congrats! I have dropped 50 since 4/15. From 260 to 210. I am shooting for 186, but I will settle for somewhere in the 190's.
  10. Absolutely. If we are going to put the general classifications of music in the 80's as Metal, Hard Rock, & Rock (which I agree with) then I agree with you. The "hair bands" seemed to be a bit more concerned with appealing to the masses. The metal bands seemed to have the music as their top focus.
  11. They seem like rock now, but back then the classification "rock" was for bands like Loverboy or Journey, IMO. Bands like Dokken may not have been on the level of Maiden, but they sure werent on the same level as Loverboy. They were more metal than anything else. Funny, as now Priest and Maiden seem much more "rock" than they used to. They seem very "Classic Rock" compared to what is considered "metal" today.
  12. They are to the 00's as Quiet Riot was to the 80's. Im listening to Priest and Maiden....and Quiet Riot comes along with a catchy, accessible, and bland excuse for metal....and sell millions. There will always be the band in each genre that has that watered down version that appeals to the masses. That being said, I would listen to Quiet Riot over Flock of Seagulls.
  13. It is safe, accessible, and bland radio metal for the masses. Nickleback are pretty smart though. They have a successful formula for mainstream radio rock that crosses over genres and gender, and continue to churn them out as much as possible until their 15 minutes are up. They are a helluva lot better than some alternatives out there. As revolting as you may think they are, I bet you could name hundreds of bands you rate lower. I know I could. That being said, with the plethora of immensly better artists out there, I dont think you will ever find them on my ipod.
  14. The E-Pros also come in Navy...not just black... if I am not mistaken. Any other custom color (like the NHL colors pictured at Hockey1) are the custom gloves from Canada. I have the "pro stock model" Eastons, and they are worth the extra $
  15. Talk about dedication to the guitar. I heard a story where he severely broke his arm and it had to be set and would heal in a permanent position. He sat and bent his arm in the position to where he could play guitar, and told the doctors to set it there.
  16. Got asked to play in the 40+ league. I already play C2, so this will be allowing me to play 2 league games a week. The 40+ team is full of really good players, so I will definitely improve my game. Best of all, the captain pays for the whole team! Im playing for free. He pays for two teams....30k per year total. Home and away uniforms. I think he owns a luxury yacht design/building company....really nice guy. Really looking forward to this.
  17. Tesla hit their peak with their second cd. No doubt. Great Radio Controversy, right? I dont think Accept even had a peak...LOL. Balls to the wall was a fun song when you are 14 though! Savatage has been hit and miss for decades. Some crap....some amazing stuff. They changed after the guitarist (singers brother) died. Anpother one I used to like.....KROKUS!!!!! LOL Headhunter was a great album!
  18. If you want to start a Dio versus Ozzy war, I'll be your huckleberry. Mob Rules! Ozzy takes it. Dont get me wrong though...Dio is f-ing awesome, and Holy Diver is amazing. But the sheer volume of great stuff Ozzy did with Sabbath and solo just has to get the win. It is more of a product of the band as a whole. But if I had to choose a voice to front my metal band....Dio....hands down.
  19. I really like Dysfunctional. Inside Looking Out & Hole In My Head are very good songs. I have been on a retro metal kick lately. Really good stuff for working out. Here are some more: Accept, Tesla, & Savatage :)
  20. Havent listened to much of the later stuff. I listen to everything up to Dysfunctional. Lately been rockin Dio - Holy Diver, and alot of old Priest (pre-turbo) and Maiden (pre somewhere in time) too.
  21. Hell no.....been rockin alot of Dokken lately.
