Forsberg pads for lace bite for lazy people like me.
Beflar replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
They have Velcro. Not sure what you mean. The Velcro stops them from shifting and since your tendon is in the middle it is basically locked in once laced up. They are pretty thick gel pads as well. Once you cut out the middle part it gives a lot of room for the tendon. Once you have them set up they are just a part of your skate. Mine have stayed there for a few years now. Either way the Forsberg idea is the best solution for bad lace bite and this is the fastest way to deal it as it takes 1 minute to set up. Plus it works. Then you can add other things if it is really bad like including a gel pad on top of the tendon. So Forsberg and gel pad. If that doesn't fix it... Wow... I wish I knew what caused the lace bite in the first place. I was doing fine for a long time then bang hit me hard and fast and never really went away... -
Buy gel pad seen in pic below but cut the middle part out. The two side pieces have Velcro on the back and will stay there. BOOM. Forsberg pads for lazy people like me... It works. Your welcome.

I'm 220lb and dropped to a 77 flex(p92 curve) just to try it out. It screwed up all my shots but the wrist shots were effortless. You might have a better result at 165lb

I changed from a 11' profile to the Quad 0.5. Good to know about lasting longer... I do LOVE the glide I get from the 3/4, for three games I loved it. Then one game was more bumpy/physical than normal and I was getting knocked down more than normal... So I tried the 11/16 and am on the fence with them cause I loved the glide from the 3/4 so much...

Do you have sharpen skates more often if they have a more shallow hollow? I went from a 5/8 to a more shallow 3/4 when I changed my profile to a Quad 0.5, normally I can go a long time between sharpens but now it seems I need to sharpen more often... I am going to a different guy to sharpen skates, that might be a reason also.

they should bring back football-style shoulder pads

I would pass out from heat stroke if I had to wear these... -
Single Favorite Piece of Equipment Ever

CCM CL shoulder pads. Top notch protection and you forget you have them on. -
I wear a cage and still have the SIDU in cause they are really comfortable. I do find they shrink like 1 mm when they cool down after molding, so it can make them really tight but... Best mouth guard I can find that I will actually use.

How rare is it to have a very slight bend in your skate blade.
Beflar replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
So I have one extra set of Step steel for the LS2. So I'm going to get those profiled and put on... I wonder what the odds are that it will fix everything. -

Do holders just give out over time as well? I have a pair of Bauer One 100. I'm wondering if I should just buy new steel, new holder or just new skates.... -
I noticed I had a slight bend in my skate blade. Probably been like that for a very long time. Store fixed it and it is an improvement but it is still not perfect straight. After talking to the guy I got the impression that it is a very common thing and not to worry to much if it is very small... Thoughts. My info: 220 pounds probably 240 with equipment on.

Does anyone make a skate tongue that actually fits a human shin?
Beflar replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
...did it work? -
Dude. You need to read my review on the 0.5 Quad profile... https://modsquadhockey.com/forums/topic/73239-my-review-of-the-05-quad-profile/

I have lace bite in one foot. I do the Forsberg thing where I velcro two gel columns to the inside of the skate tongue to give room for that tendon in the front of the shin that sticks out when you bend your knees or lift your toes. Then I'm like 'how has no one built something like this into all skate tongues already'? I'm thinking all skate tongues on the inside should be shaped like this ^ more not like this ( . Like, you keep the outside of the skate tongue like this " ( " but the inside should be more like this ^ . Basicly what I'm saying is the front of my shin is not round. I'm using a Bauer One 100 at the moment. So maybe the new tongues do this? Or if someone knows of a product.

Me 220 pounds. Coming from a 11' neutral profile, 5/8 sharpen. Rocker 280 length. Started playing hockey on 13' profile 20 years ago(didn't want to fall etc) till I figured that 13' profile in the corners kinda sucks so, I started to lower the profile number. 9' was great in the corners but unstable for me so a settled for 11' profile. Been on that for years. 0.5 Quad (8-10-12-14) As suggested when switching to the 0.5 quad I lower my sharpen from 5/8 to a 3/4... Conclusion I am having more fun playing hockey with this profile... 0.5 Quad feels 'natural'. The first thing you are going to notice is the extra stability(even coming from an 11') but, as soon as you bend your knees and shift your weight your suddenly agile. The weight shift feels natural, hard to describe, flex your foot 2 degrees and your suddenly agile without it feeling strange at all. Coming from a single profile skate the quad felt sooo much better. It kinda feels like I'm skating on a 13' profile but the second I want to make a cut it feels like a 10' (maybe lower?). So increased stability with increased agility. Normally you have to give up one to get the other. Other notes: the increase in glide is noticable big time. This makes sense with the change in sharpen and more steel on the ice... So in general if you are on a 10' profile or higher I would suggest the 0.5 quad profile. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Update: four games in and it keeps getting better the more I play on them. Love them.

Interesting things I did not know before I started doing research on skate profiles. If you have good knee bend you can make anything work...(some pros don't even know what they are skating on). Just because something feels good to you doesn't mean it is the most efficient profile in term of speed and agility.(Brock University study). Most efficient dual profile was 9/10 and 9.5/10.5 in study.(only dual looked at. Brock University). Dual profiles greater than 2 ie 7/10 may cause flat spot feel between the different radius in runner, might be better to keep changes to 2 or less ie 8/10 or 8/10/12/14 etc.(just something being suggested).

Only had one skate on them. No equipment or stick, just a community skate. I want to put on the equipment and giver before a review but right now the 0.5 is kinda blowing me away. How is it possible to be more agile and more stable at the same time... I could go on but I want to really test it more first.

I was going to post the same thing.

I can say with some confidence that very few people will buy a 399 stick but the 230 two piece sticks will fly off the shelves. I'm guessing two piece stick are easier to make and maybe more profitable? So...

Everytime they mess with the blade like this it makes the blade the weak point of the stick. True does this, CCM did this back in the day and always the first thing to break would be the blade. It usually works but the life of the stick will be a joke in my experience.
