Ya the numbering system is strange for the 0.5. Quad 0: 6-9-11-13 Quad 1: 6-9-12-15 Quad 2: 7-10-13-16 Quad 0.5: 8-10-12-14 So given my stats 9.5 size, 280 blade, 220 pounds Quad 1 is suggested, not sure what 0.5 is suggested for... Skate on a 11' (use to be 13' back in the day) trying to work my way down in number but not to the point of falling(9' is to small for me) so the 0.5 looked perfect to me. Great post. Thank you.

Has anyone tried the Quad 0.5 profile? Backstory: So I went on YouTube to do some research on Quad profiles and found the channel Hockey Tutorial who talks about it and in the end he said the best for him was the Quad 0.5 which is a 8-10-12-14 profile. So me coming from an 11' I figured this would be a good place to start. yet no one here has a review. Apparently the Quad 0.5 does not come standard with the machine. As far as I can tell it is a $88 part so no idea why shops don't have it but that is another story/question...

Beflar replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Apparently the company is in both bc Canada and Florida and they ship out of Florida... I get the feeling that they are starting up after getting the patient back... not cheap at the moment but I feel like I found a unicorn so I dont care. Update: so they ended up charging me in Canadian dollars so the price was 105 canadian shipped after tax etc. So not bad at all. -

I emailed the company and got this as a reply! Good day Michael, As a matter of fact we do have a coreshorts hockey model with a jock insert. We have not released them yet on our site . The short runs $86.00 USD . If you decide you would like to order one, please let me know and i can have someone from our office reach out to get the necessary information. On our site there is a sizing chart . It is important to use that as a guide tool as the short should fit like a second skin. please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. happy holidays ross 226-927-3773 ross@coreshorts.com -

Ya I saw that. I basicly went to the dark web to try and find them... nothing in my size. Nadda. Zip. Large or extra large are all gone... I messaged the BC company that has the patent but... -

OK so I played one game without paint and one with white on the inside and white is a noticeable improvement. I barely even notice the cage with the inside painted white. Thanks for the pro tip.

Xmas is coming and I haven't bought a new practice jersey or socks in ten years. Was wondering if anything new has come out in that time that I should look at. Breathability and staying dry are the most important features I'm looking for.

How did you paint it?

Ok I found one online. $69 US to ship... wow... Oh they are at sportcheck! Ordered. done... thank you

I'm getting old and I'm looking at going with a cage. I normally have a visor. I have no idea what to look for. What do I need to know, what should I get?

If you start to shorten your stick when should you change flex.

Funny you should ask. Long story short, yes. Now I'm convinced that a good knee bend is the most important thing in skating. I hear some players in the NHL don't even know what their skate profile is, probably because their legs are so strong it does not matter. Good knee bend is hard on the thighs thou... It is killings me but I'm getting stronger by the week. -

Thank you. The site is in us dollars right? -
I'm a lot like you. I think any mid kick is going to feel OK to you.

So this is what I ended up doing. I managed to get a 2019 TRUE AC9 ACF prostock for $179, 75 flex Marner curve (Sakic). I was looking at getting a Bauer 2n for $224, so to get a real one-piece that normally goes $300+ for $179 made me happy. Tried it out today and could not be happier. It does feel a little different being a shorter stick but the shots are booming again. Not sure how much this has to do with the stick being new and having that new stick pop but... One thing I was not expecting was my wrist shot(which I never use...) was a lot better with the lower flex. So long story short. I shortened my stick about the distance from my mouth to my chin and lowered the stick flex to compensate and couldn't be happier. Thank you all for the excellent replies. -
Forward. 5'11' 215 pounds in socks Have a 87 flex stick. Great snap shot. Needed to improve stick handling. So I shorten stick. Improved stick handling but my snap shot took a hit unless a really muscle it. Can I get the best of both worlds if a drop stick flex. I have tried 77 flex before and it felt really whippy but if I shorten it... I usually buy Bauer Nexus in the $318 or $250 range so it would be a costly experiment. Has anyone else tried this? Thoughts.

Rebaking skates after taking five years off. Good idea?
Beflar replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I wonder if a hairdryer would work... Oh I do have a steamer! that would work I bet. Guess I'll find out. Ya I just need to flatten that one spot a little... Wish me luck. -

Ya these sidas are old. you had to stand on these pads and you would make an indentation, then they bake the insoles and put them in the indentations, then you stand on them to mold it. Kinda cool. I've read you can reheat them but you are taking a risk... Speed plate are by bauer? you really like them? I will do research now. -

I have a pair of old sidas insoles in there. the problem is either to much cup for the heal that it is effecting the back part of my arch, or the arch is to high/close to the heel. Was hoping it would flatten out a little if I left them in the boot and heated them up... thoughts? -

Ya. Great suggestion. Not sure what the skates are like now but this boot is really stiff even after using them for years. -
I took five years off, had a kid... Thank you... Been back for about a month and I think the arch on one skate is a bit to high. It hurts for a bit then goes away. My insoles are old, I think they are SIDA or something like that. I remember them making my stand in a sandbox while they heat fitted them to my feet... Anyone else go through this. Was thinking of getting the superfeet comfort insole. Just wondering what other people might know on the matter. Thanks
