  1. Um, I'm on Modsquad and know way too much about Hockey gear than any healthy human being should? Easton 'Darby' pattern = Warrior Vanek pattern = Bauer P89 pattern. Once upon a lifetime ago I had a connection to get me Pro Stock Synergy's with the Darby pattern, that dried up until Warrior started making the Vanek Pattern (innovative Mogilny too if I remember correctly), then the Bauer Customizer came out and I saw the P89 was exactly the same. Warrior stopped offering the Vanek at retail and I cannot use Bauer One-pieces, so I started looking for options. Figuring custom one-pieces from Easton or Warrior would either be impossible to order and rather expensive I asked a certain shop that I know what they could do for me for ordering a 'Pro' spec pattern, they said they could do the Bauer P89 no problem, minimum 6, so I went with that.
  2. As far as I know Tapered Bauer P89 blades are not available as a retail offering. The P89 is however available for college, custom, & pro orders, etc, you just need to find a dealer to order them for you. I was able to find a dealer to order me the Bauer P89 tapered blades, the minimum was a half dozen so thats what I went with. I'm still looking for a decent shaft to go with the blades though.
  3. Worcester sharks sale: April 29th at Noon. http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=4387623
  4. 4 Stitches in my leg. How you ask? I blew a tire and went into the boards and somehow managed to have the heel of my right skate blade cut the inner thigh of my left leg. It gets worse, it was on my 3rd shift of the game & there was no one within 20 feet of me.
  5. Justin, Could you give a better idea in regards to the Alkali CA9 team duffle bag, are there any compartments within the bag for skates, etc? And also, is there a difference between "Heavy duty Tarpaulin" compared to another companies "Laminated Tarpaulin"? Thanks
  6. Ugh, well if I lost to anyone I am glad its a fellow Modsquader. Enjoy them.
  7. Hey Sdcopp, Can you comment or give a more in depth description on the rake of the boot and how it feels/impacts your skating, etc? I understand it keeps you on the balls of your feet more, but does it impact your knee band at all in your stride/turning? thanks
  8. LFOD, As a fellow hockey gear nut in the same age bracket as you, those Graf 300's are money. I'm sure Graf gloves were one of the most popular during our time as kids, I know I went through 2 pairs, awesome to still see a pair kicking around in such good shape,
  9. Won 2 tickets to Pats/Jets at Gillette, Section 120, Row 3.
  10. Boston Bruins Sale is September 10th at 10 am at Pure Hockey in Braintree. Pure Hockey of Braintree 220 Wood Rd. Braintree, Massachusetts
  11. Thought I'd show off a family pic of the current glove lineup. Top Row: Pro Stock Easton Synergy 800, David Clarkson's Easton, Rob Blake's Eagles Middle Row: Cooper Techniflex TF750 & Frans Nielson Warriors Bottom Row: X60's
  12. Suddenly investing my life savings in hockey equipment instead of a 401K doesn't look like such a bad investing strategy.
  13. Are the Havlat EPROS from TSR? If so I tried on that glove and it was unreal. If they were any other color besides the awful Wild Xmas colors I woulda bought them in a second.
  14. AIREAYE, those skates you see are my pride & joy, a pair pro stock Bauer 1000s and no I did not get those from the Islanders sale, they were actually purchased at the pro shop at South Windsor arena (CT).
  15. Here's my haul from the the New York Islanders Pro Shop. Frans Nielson Warrior Franchises, RBK shell. (The helmet is actually from Worcester Sharks sale) Again, I can't say how helpful the guys at the Isles pro shop were, def recommend them.
  16. Drunken and immature neighbors who wake up the entire block and still don't stop even after the cops come. Forcing me to get out of bed and threaten vigilante justice to get it to stop.
  17. Loud neighbors keeping me up all hours of the night. And the subsequent next day when I need to be super productive and am as tired as shit.
  18. Newest (but oldest) pair of gloves I picked up...Darkstar will probably appreciate these. Cooper 5 Rolls These are brand new (tags still on, palms untouched) in 2010 and they're probably from the early 90's.
  19. Insane/unrealistic expectations at work...Getting asked, 'to do more, with less'. Ugh, vent over.
  20. Design aesthetics: Oh dear lord, are these gloves a thing of beauty. Growing up loving the look of the original Cooper Techniflex, the X:60 draws a lot from the glove it evolved from. In a market dominated by the simple '4-roll design', the X:60 displays a fresh look w/ an angular 4-roll and a non traditional cuff roll that looks like a love child of the original Techniflex with elements of the recent Vapor Line of gloves. If I have any issues with the aesthetics, its a small minuscule issue with the 'piping' that goes down through the middle of the glove and then down the hand on the index finger. I am a much bigger fan of keeping the colors solid versus adding in that small color element. Fit: Coming from the Nike/Bauer 4 Rolls and Pro Easton 4 rolls, I was skeptical about the 'taper' fit that goes with the Vapor line of gloves. I prefer a loose fitting glove with a big open cuff and had previously given up on Mission model Commander, Lieutenant, and Wicked 1 gloves b/c I could not get used to the more snugger fitting glove. With the X:60 your hand fits very comfortably, its tight, but not too tight. The cuff does employs a nice taper making it a wide enough opening to offer a lot of wrist movement/flexibility that I thought I would lose with the snug fit. Design features: I must say I expected the Digital palm to be a bit 'tackier' but it still holds a great grip on the stick. Normally I'd go with a candy cane tape job on the shaft of my sticks, but I've done away with that with the X:60. Durability also seemed like it would be an issue on this palm, but I've been using the X:60 about 3 times a week since May and have no holes/issues. Another nice feature would the be the thumb, its very articulate and gives you a solid grip. The other design features are the Nylon construction and the inside liner, both are very quick to dry and the palm is not an issue if you happen to get that wet or if its damp from a previous games use. Protection: I haven't had any run ins where I could point to and say, yeah this glove is really protective or lacking. Considering the 'Pro' moniker this glove carries and the Poly Inserts and Dual Density Foams, I'd say the X:60 protection does the job. I'll update this once I take a good hard whack on the hand. Weight: Hardly noticeable, the X:60 fit and weight does a better job than any glove I've used to make the weight not even enter your mind when the glove is on your hand. Durability/Build quality: Again, 3 times a week since May and no issues on the palm. The same can be said for the Nylon construction as well, no rips, tears, pulls anything. Very well made glove. Conclusion: Very close to glove perfection in my eyes. I know a lot guys would probably stay away from the X:60 considering the tighter fit that comes along with the taper design, but its not an issue. The glove is designed to move with your hand, not restrict it, I think the X:60 could win over a lot of converts from the standard 4-roll users. In a lot of ways the X:60 took the concept of the Techniflex gloves and modernized the materials and improved the fit to produce an excellent glove. I already own 2 pairs of X:60s and will probably pick up another just so 10 years from now I'm not trying to track them down like I've been for so long with the Cooper Techniflex (although I still search for em, ha). That says it all, I intend to use the X:60 as my go to glove for a long time to come. Overall: 9.5 out of 10
  21. those are amazing, nice job. Just curious Did you go with the heel lifts instead of dremmelling?
  22. I still got one of those AGs with the Red Graphics stashed away at the parents house. You've inspired me Mack. Next time home I'm digging it out and gonna give it a go with a present day composite blade see how the 'ol shaft performs.
  23. I'd love to find one of the original T-Flex Graphite Shafts, the Maroon colored shaft with grey and black graphics.
