Hey Justin, If the recessed chassis set up on the RPD Max makes such a difference, does it make sense for me to take the chassis off my CA9 RPD and put on a Tour chassis and dremmel out the sole for the recessed wheel?

Just as a point of reference, I wear a 7.5 in a Bauer APX and had to go to an 8 in the CA9 RPD.

When I baked my CA9 RPD (Thanks again Justin, where are my test pair of RPD Max? ), I took the foot beds out and also during the baking I stood up as well. The CA9 RPD was the first skate I'd ever heard of where you stand during the backing process, but standing up made such a huge difference in the fit of the skate. Pretty sure you can bake a pair of skates twice so if you can find another spot to bake them you can give standing up a try. Just be careful, stand up slow, and you'll feel the boot conform more to your foot. As for shops on the Island, when I grew up there Cozzi's at Newbridge was my preferred spot for sharpening and the like. These days not sure who has the market cornered but a buddy of mine does run the shop out of Superior so if you head there ask for Rob.

Zwitter, those missions are amazing.

Krev do you use short hosel Tapered blades with those or do you have a stash of Long Hosel Old School tapered blades to use?

The original Mako Tapered shaft has the closest grip to the old clear coat from the Gold Easton Synergy days. Easton went nuts with the Mako II shaft on the grip version, but luckily I don't mind it. And Mack, if those 'Metal Matrix' Hull Z-Bubbles go up for adoption, please hit me up. I have a good home & an Easton Hull Composite blade just waiting for one. And I love how you threw in 'Metal Matrix', what year is it, 2001 & we're still on the Easton Message board or corebeam?

2013 Easton Hockey Catalogue
the_game replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2013 Product Catalogue Reviews
Not sure if you're still interested but I have the Original Mako Tapered Shaft & the Mako II Tapered shaft, both in 85 Flex and feel like the Mako II plays slightly stiffer than the OG Mako. Personally I prefer the OG Mako Shaft over the Mako II. -
I'm taking that T-Flex to my grave.

Next you're going to tell me driving with my new gloves on is not the proper way to break them in.
-
Pretty productive week of gear whorin' if I might say so myself. Mid-90's Graphite T-Flex shaft, that for an almost 20 year old shaft still performs pretty darn well. Then some Bonafide X Warriors and BlackHawks-esque Franchise pants.

There was no Urgent Care opened at 10 PM after my game, so ER it was Chippa. Plus I really went for the cut inside my mouth that I thought needed stitches & not so much the cut on my lip. Monty, the Stitches were taken out by 'Dr. ME' My new vent...getting used to playing with a full shield & getting chirped b/c I'm wearing a 'Fish Bowl'.
-
4 hour Emergency room visit, $100 Co-Pay, & 3 stitches in my lip b/c some clown in Men's league can't keep his stick down. And I'll still have to make time & pay to get the stitches taken out. Guess its time to go back to a cage.

A friend with good connections came through on those blades. They are right handed as well, unfortunately for you I am a hoarder so they'll never be for sale.
-
Think I might be good on blades for a little while... Dozen P89 Bauer Tapered Replacement blades Also picked up these pants. All black Bauer Pro Return pants, thinking Devils b/c of the Bauer logo down the side of the pant.

the_game replied to cougarscaptain87's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
I've seen all sorts aluminum frames dent all the time from shots, some hard shots, some not so hard that just hit the right spot. I've yet to see someones Mag Chassis dent though.- 2846 replies

The only issue I had with the toebox was it stiff & rigid prior to baking, almost like putting my forefoot in a vice grip. Once I baked the skate and skated in the CA9 RPD over a period of time, I do not have any issue with the width or stiffness in the forefoot of the skate. Additionally, I never experienced any discomfort caused by friction from the connection between the boot & the toe cap.

Vet88 & GQRDY, I've been in the CA9 RPD almost 2 months now & have not experienced the issue with the toe cap that the both of you are experiencing.

I am of the group that went up a size from the Bauer APX compared to the Alkali, in my APX I am a 7.5 went with an 8 in the Alkali and the fit is perfect. In regards to the width of the CA9, I think the baking here is the key. If they are too narrow, baking them is gonna open up them so much. The advice about standing after the bake was they key factor for me & changed the whole fit of the skate. I think if the boot is a little wide, the baking process is going to wrap your foot as well. I apologize for not updating my LTR, I've been on the CA9 a ton and am going to provide some more thoughts & also get some quality pics of the chassis placement for folks.

Check out my Long Term Review on the Alkali CA9 RPD as I cover the topic of how the chassis is mounted. On the RPD it does seem to be mounted a little bit further but as Justin has said to me, Alkali tries to mount their chassis as far back as possible on the boot.
