  1. Not a lady. The Man They Call Reveen put on an awesome show when I saw him as a kid. Oddly enough, he was never seen in the same room as Ricky from Trailer Park Boys.
  2. Here's some more detail. The bid was at $170 when I left the rink earlier today.
  3. Maybe 4-5 hours spread out over a weekend. I didn't have a pattern to work with so there was some trial and error from the picture in my head. Spray painting the legs goal post red took the longest because of the drying time.
  4. I just put these together for a charity auction next weekend. Bench: Washers set:
  5. It's not an ideal fit, but I've paired a blade salvaged from an OctoGun with a shaft salvaged from an s17. I've also salvaged the blades from s17s and s19s depending on the breakpoint. I'd imagine the RS would be the same. Both techniques are already listed in this thread.
  6. http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ With the Canucks in town, my wife and I went to the Pepsi Centre this afternoon. Like a good MSH wife, she grabs the pair of gloves I'm looking at and says, "You can't trade them or sell them. Happy Valentine's Day."
  7. I posted that pic in the Cutting OPS thread after someone suggested salvaging the S17/S19 blades, which I've also done. That one had a bad blade so I put it together for a teammate who wanted a long plug. It's about 11 inches.
  8. http://www.flickr.co...tream/lightbox/ http://www.flickr.co...tream/lightbox/ I figured out how to make use of an S19 broken in the blade.
  9. http://www.flickr.co...tream/lightbox/ I found some classics in mint condition locally. The plan was to pair the shafts with some composite blades I have lying around but it almost feels sacrilegious.
  10. I've converted X:60s to shafts. Just start low and cut a little bit at a time until the blades fits snugly. No real magic, but you'll likely need a plug when you're done.
  11. I've converted a U+ CL. My tapered blade fit without losing much length. You'd probably have to cut too much off to make a standard blade work.
  12. Twist the plastic around a bit so you have something for the pliers to grab. If you have a heat gun you can also melt the plastic a bit, then pull on it once it cools.
  13. I've salvaged many blades using a version of Fatwabbit's method. I'm at the point now where teammates just hand over broken sticks in the locker room knowing it'll be a blade by next game. I use a sliding compound mitre saw, but I think you could do the same thing with your dremmel. I cut the shaft down to the top of the hosel then make a guess at the fuse point, like FW. Then I set the depth guide on the saw so I'm only shaving off the layers of composite shaft and not cutting into the hosel itself. I work the saw back and forth on the top the shaft as I move from the fuse point to the top of the hosel. Then I make a single pass across the front and back of the shaft at the fuse point, like FW. After that, a tap with a chisel or flat screw driver should separate what's left of the shaft in one C-shaped piece. No heat necessary. I've been surprised at how easily they come apart. TPS, Harrow, and CCM seem to be the easiest to separate, then Bauer, then Easton.
  14. Flat head screw driver has always been my go to. The last time I converted an SE16, I cut at fuse point, drilled down the center of the tenon, heated, then wedged the screwdriver head around the edges of the tenon to collapse it. Once it was separated from the shaft, it pulled out with pliers. After it cooled, I trimmed off another 1/2 centimeter just to even up the cut.
  15. Thanks, shotty & Scotty. I stand corrected. I have a broken S17 in my workshop that I was gonna throw out. Now I'll try to save it.
  16. I thought the S17 and S19 were true OPS, no tenon. How far up from the heel is the fuse point?
  17. If the X20 wood blade is a standard taper, you'll have to cut the ex-OPS higher up to make it fit. You'd be better off buying a tapered blade to fit the shaft without losing any more length.
  18. For the record, I converted an S17 into a shaft/blade this week with a salvaged blade from an Octogun broken in the shaft. The OG tenon is shaped like a running track and the S17 taper is more like a football, so it's not a 100% match but they paired pretty will together. Overall, I lost less than 2" on the shaft length.
  19. I've done this with my sliding compound mitre saw. I cut the shaft down to the top of the hosel then marked the fuse point. Then I set the depth guide on the saw so I was only shaving through the layer of composite shaft on the top of the shaft and not into the hosel itself. Then, I work the saw back and forth as I slide the blade from the fuse point to the top of the hosel. Then I make a single pass across the forehand, bottom, and backhand of the shaft at the fuse point. After that, a tap with a chisel or flat screw driver should separate the shaft pieces from the tenon. If I've gotten it right, the forehand-bottom-backhand part of the shaft covering the tenon comes off cleanly. I tried this first with a broken blade someone had left on the bench just to see if it could be done. Now I'll salvage a teammate's (or my own) blade when an OPS shaft breaks. It works well on Warrior and CCM sticks, the Eastons and Bauers are a bit tougher.
  20. I tried to salvage a broken 9K0 a while back. I cut low on the taper and chisel/dremel'd out the existing tenon. I got a blade in there, but I had to cut a 1/4" off its tenon. Since the blade I used had a hollow tenon it got compacted and sat at an angle in the final product. I didn't account for the shaft walls get thicker as I moved up the shaft, getting closer to the O's. If you're going to try this, cut as low as you can and be sure to buy a blade with a solid tenon. Good luck.
  21. It's absolutely douchebaggery, and for the most part ragging the puck in you own end is pathetic and breaking an unwritten rule, you just need to throw an intense fore-check at them. The biggest offense is turning away from a breakaway. There is a difference between not running up the score and rubbing it in. That would be considered douchebaggery at its finest. Have they ever heard of just dumping it in and sending one forechecker and drop four back in D? That's what we usually end up doing if we ever get up by that much or try to get the ppl who don't score a lot of goals some chances at shots on net. As for the breakaway he should have skated it in and shot at the goalies chest or "missed the net" if they didn't want to look like douchebags. I was just about to say shoot six-hole on the breakaway. Machinehead beat me to it. For the record, my wife (who watches but doesn't play) just asked me what I was typing. After explaining the breakaway turnaround even SHE says it's not cool. She also laughed at douchewaffles.
  22. Dig is one of my favourite pre-game psych-up songs. Play it loud on your way to the rink and you're itching to hit the ice.
  23. I Mother Earth. I'm listening to Scenery & Fish right now. I forgot what a great disc it is from start to finish. Used to be Alright still pops up on some of my old mixes when I'm driving. Great throwback.
  24. A gas card is nice in the short term, but let them get you something you'll have for a while. My parents bought my brothers and me watches when we graduated. I still have the watch 15 years later. It's not engraved or anything, but it's still my Grad Watch and it reminds me of high school and my parents. Rustpot, where do you live? That fast food place looks like it could be the back of Molly's Reach. Your picture sent me straight to youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FteZimbz59I...073&index=0
