chadd no offense but your model wasnt even the finished one yet. My SL has lasted me 6 months.

and jrhky36 if you break stick that easily, something is wrong with your shooting style.

btw my SL is a warrenty replacement to from a si core which lasted me 4 months

lol, your SL is a warranty replacement from a Si-Core that lasted you 4 months ???

i've always had problems with the focus flex blades breaking in the heel, so i stopped using them. the 2 products that held up for me from easton are the z-carbon blades and aluminum shafts. i know that the bottom line is PP, but i will not give easton anymore of my money, including baseball/softball gear.

My SL broke in the middle of the shaft after about 2 1/2 weeks. They didn't have the same curve in the normal SL so the gave me the grip which has lasted me a month so far...I noticed that on the grip there is much less paint chipping, hardly any, the blade of the normal SL had hardly any paint left on it, the paint also seemed to rub off where I put my hands, has anyone else had these problems???

The "focus flex blade" is the z-carbon

He could mean the Z-Carbon stick or the Synthesis carbon blades. Neither of those are focus-flex.

I never had good luck with those ultralight blades, the ultra graphite blades were tanks for me though.

No complaints about my UltraLight shaft. This will be its second season and it's still ticking. Mind you, other than warming up the goalie I don't take a lot of slappers.

Personally, I find the blade takes most of the beating. I prefer wood blades so I go through a lot of those. (Probably about six per year, playing on average 2-3 times a week.)

So true. Last year I killed 6 OPS, 1 shaft, 4 composite blades and two woodies. Seven out of these twelve were Easton Easton products btw.... B)

So if you break alot of crap and use Easton more than others...is it safe to assume you are going to break more Easton?

I broke 6 one pieces last year, 2 Vector 100's 2 Vapor 5's and 1 synergy and 1 no name. As well i went through 4 shafts: one vapor X, two genesis' and one hespeler. My dads ultra-lite (used as a back up for 3/4 of the season) is still going hard.

I know it sucks to break that many OPS for all you guys mentioning 5-6+ broken OPS in a season. My questions are:

1. How many games did you play?

2. How many practices did you have?

3. How much abuse did you put on the OPS?

4. How much was the OPS abused by your opponents in a game?

I know its a lot of $$ for the OPS but they aren't promising durability. I know these OPS's that last 1 shift, 1 practice really blows but ....

Maybe its time to go back to 5030 or 7000 with fibreglass shafts. The blades go fast but you can buy 3-4 of those for the price of the OPS and still not get pissed off when the 5030 or 7000 blows up. Maybe its worth a try.

Just curious about this and when was the last time you used a wood stick?

Last week, I was throwing lasers with the damn thing. (5030 Spezza) Only problem was that it was about a 45 flex after one skate.

Hey Cavs019,

There is still something to be said for a 5030!!!!!!!!

Old Time Hockey!!!

As Paul Kariya said about 5 years ago, "There will be an entire generation of hockey players that never use a wood stick."

Sad, but possibly true.

I prefer the Christian woodies to sher-wood. They 1000s are pretty similar to the 5030 but a lot cheaper. I had great luck with the custom tapered blades I had made up as well. Once they get the capability to make longer 2000 woodies, I may switch to them. Our cost on them is fantastic and the flex is perfect.

5030's are so light, so light. Awesome feel and shooting is like an OPS. The only problem with them is that I can take 20-30 shots and they feel completely dead. But I'd have to say when you are feeling like you need a little kick, then I hit up my 5030/7000 combos. They're my confidence sticks
