Some people on the Habs board were blaming Souray for that one...I'd say that move would've fooled MOST D-men in the league. And, if that had been any other Senator he would have been on his ass. Souray played it right, went for the body (I'm assuming he thoguht there would be a second defenceman there to backup)...but that move was SICK!

Well on the video the second D is just watching Spezza making his move on the goalie...

He wasn't further than 3 feet away

I'd blame this one... not Souray (the move was so pure ! )

one word can describe it.... SICK. If you noticed there was 3 MTL players right there, Spezza beat out the D then charged for the net, where there were 2 other MTL players. I love how he waited him out, faked back the other side than back hander up high. BEAUTIFUL

I am by default a Habs fan. My wife is a RAVENOUS Habs fan. Even she said "wow, what a beautiful goal."

Indeed, could have been the move of the year. If I was Jose, I would have been proud to be a part of that play.

Plus, I have Spezza on my fantasy team, so its all good. :lol:

The pathetic thing is there was a second (and third) man to help, so Souray made the right move -- he went for a hip check to move Spezza off the puck. Spezza saw it coming and slipped the puck past so he could dodge, and the other two MTL players didn't anticipate. By the time they realized he was past Souray, Spezza was in so close they couldn't do anything that wouldn't be a penalty.

The second d-man should have moved in behind Souray--even if Souray landed the check, the puck would have ended up there.

im sick of everyone being on sourays dick in montreal. the guy is the worst dman ont he canadians. he sucks so much guys, on that move you forget the puck and murder spezza. wtf ahh im so pissed right now cuz of that. i hate souray witha passion, and this isnt the first time he lost a game for us. damn plug

He did try to take the man. You see he gets a piece of him, just not all. Keep in mind Spezza is skating away from him, has great balance. He mis-read it a bit, but his attempted recovery was there. He got by speed, he didn't look at the puck, he tried to take the man, he got a piece of him, you see him throw out his shoulder and elbow at the end. In order for him to have actually gotten Spezza it he would've needed to throw his elbow out like McLaren did on Zednik a few years ago. It wasn't perfect D on Sourrays part at all, but sometimes you just get beat by a good move. I'd be more pissed off at Zednik for turning it over, then not backchecking.

nontheless he shouldnt have waited for spezza to come at him, he should have gone after him and let the 2nd dman cover the middle. souray is the worst dman on the canadiens, and i wont ever take that back
