Most Popular Pro Skates?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone knew the statistics of how popular skates are with pro players. What is the most popular skate...second most popular skate...? Do any pros use perferated steel? Do any wear the Nike Bauer Supreme one90's yet?

Iggy and lindros have been wearing the one90s. Ossi Vannanen Of the colorado avalanche wore them until he broke his ankle. I think it would be safe to say that the most popular skate in the nhl is the xxx right now. And as far as steel and other things go it is just personal preferance. If you are asking because you need new skates. don't get something because everyone else has them. Get was feels comfortable and what you like. Plus most the stuff on the pro skates is custom. It would not even be the same thing.

Bauer is far and away the top dog in the NHL skate category.

Do you know if that's just because Bauer has the most sponsored players, or do the players actually choose Bauer?

I don't know if I would say far and away, from what I can see there are still alot of guys using CCM skates.

I used to see a lot more Graf skates in the NHL and now I hardly see any. Graf is falling behind in skate technology and that could be the cause of the decline.

I'd say about half the league wears Bauer - the rest is divided amongst the rest of the brands.

does that include nike?

Nike has a pretty minimal share

Although I am a CCM user and fan from my personal observation I would say that Bauers are the most popular skate in the NHL at the moment. I would have to say Reebok/CCM is second and I still see lots of players wearing Grafs. The rest of the league then seems to use the remaining brands, Eastons, Missions and Nikes. :D

cuz graf doesnt sposor anyone, teams have to buy their skates and give them to the players. If bauer pays me $ and graf doesnt id definately take bauer since you can get them custom to fit like a graf. plus grafs are for euros, since id say they have a bigger market out there.

anyhow id say bauer is #1 because from what i know, growing up when we learned to skate and played youth hockey, all of us either had bauer or ccm skates, the majority bauer, and for me ive never left.

i think its culture based

Bauer seems to rule at the Olympics too...when the players come off the ice after the period and head to the dressing rooms the camera seems to always show their skates and I noticed a lotta Bauers...was secretly hoping to see some Eastons as I've just got a pair! (sad I know)

I'm sure the comanies have stats on how many NHL players use their skates, if anyone has that it sure would be interesting to see. There are around 750 NHL players. Although it would be fun to see the breakdown, it wouldn't be indicative of anything of importance , soley because of the endorsement factor, freebee factor, etc.

Like I said there are not that many endorsed players. At that level, when it comes to skates, every mfgr offers skates to every player - they all can make them custom skates and whatnot - so the player is going to go with what works for them best. And they're all free to them - the team is buying it.
