Does anybody else have company loyalty?

Recommended Posts

Skate loyalty is it for me, but really I just buy the stuff that fits and feels the best. I did try on some CCM's though when I bought my XXX's and I thought the bauers felt better.

I am very feature- and price- conscious, so no loyalty.

If modsquadhockey appeals to gear whores, there wouldn't be as much loyalty among its members than the CCM, RBK, Easton, etc. boards' members.

That's because we're not corporate-influenced and can stay impartial.

I always get what fits me best. Though I always give NBH, CCM and Easton the first look. Don't know why though, maybe because they're the biggest brands.

Bauer skates, they just always fit me the best. I go with fit and comfort on most products. At the top end, the equipment will all do the job about the same. So, for me, it has to fit right and feel good when I wear it.

As for in the shop, I do see guys buy the same brand over and over, no matter what. Sometimes they won't even look at a competitor's product. We were talking the other day how much more fun it is to outfit a little kid in gear because everything feels good to him, he is so excited to get the gear, and he could care less about RBK or NikeBauer or Easton gear because the brand names mean nothing to him. He just wants to play!

Jofa for shoulders and shins.

Everything else..I don't really care. I have Easton and CCM skates (I wear a matched pair though I assure you.) and like them both. I have itech pants, and while they are not known for their pants, I think they're awesome. If I try it on, and it feels good, I'm going to rock it. Price is also a factor, but not too much.

the only thing I am loyal with is skates and they are Nike/Bauer. The skates I currently have are the Nike V12's, not a fan of the design but the comfort ad performance is top knotch and got them for 200 bucks at a National Sports sale. The skates before I had were the Supreme 7000's and they were BY FAR the best skate I have ever had. Best Performance, Best Comfort. I have a feeling I will never get a better pair of skates than those 7000's :(

I allways use the same brand (CCM Tacks) skates, not to be loyal with THC though. It's a high quality product that i've been using for years, so why change? I like to know what i'm getting when it comes to skates, thats why.

Generally I've stuck with Jofa shins/elbows and CCM Tacks skates over the years but that's of course only after having tried the product on. If for some reason my next pair of Jofa shins (or actually RBK now....) didn't fit well or looked like it wasn't well made, I'd definitely be wearing something else.

I used Easton Ultralite shafts (the original brown ones) for years. Eventually I tried another Easton model....then a Synergy...then every other stick under the sun no matter what brand.

For skates I have always gone with Bauer since I started playing hockey. Protective is a mix, but for gloves I've always liked Bauer. My helmets were all CCM up until the RBK helmets came out. Still in a way the same company. For sticks, I love Bauer wood sticks and TPS composite.

Equipment wise, I'm loyal to:

NBH (8000 Helmet, 8000 Lightspeed Shoulder Pads, Flexlite 10 skates)

CCM (852 Shoulder Pads, Vector Pro's with LS2)

RbK (7k Elbow, 6k Shins, 6k Pants)

Stick wise, I'm loyal to:

Easton

CCM

Inno/Warrior

Besides always wearing a Bauer Helmet I wear what ever fits. But then again Bauer’s are the only helmets I have tried that really fit.

I don't tend to have a loyalty toward any company, all of my equipment is mixed except my skates and helmet, which is Bauer but that may change because I might be gettin an Intake.

Underneath Reebok/ Jofa. On top Reebok/CCM or Easton. Helmet Reebok/CCM. Skates only Reebok/CCM or Easton.

Yeah I guess I'm pretty loyal to what works for me and believe me I've tried other brands. ;)

I've worn the Bauer 5000 helmet since it came out. I'm on my third one and wouldn't think of ever wearing anything else. It just fits my head too well. As for all my other equipment, It's a total mix. As long as it feels comfortable, I'll buy it regardless of brand name. I do keep coming back to CCM for skates though.

SKATES- I've never worn anything except Bauer skates my entire life. It's not something I really even think about, just whenever I am buying a new pair Bauer is always at the top of my list. I actually considered Graf's this year, but the Vapor XXX's just were too tempting to pass up.

GLOVES- Easton or Bauer; maybe I'm weird but lately I like having my equipment match, so I have the Vapor XXX gloves as well. But I have rotated pretty regularly between Bauer and Easton for the most part. Way back I had some Vaughan's, and I've been tempted by Eagle's and Graf's as well.

STICK- Pretty much zero loyalty here, I've have Bauer, Mission, Easton, and RBK. I'm usually looking for a deal when I buy sticks. I wouldn't have thought I would like the RBK line much for sticks, but I picked up a 7k and it just felt awesome and it was a good price so I bought it.

PROTECTIVE- Easton pants + shoulders, JOFA shins and elbow, Bauer 5000 helmet. I don't find myself replacing these pieces very often, so I'm not really loyal to one brand over the other.

I've never once had a single CCM product, their skates don't feel right whenever I try them on, and I have a real tough time finding a blade pattern they put out that I would use.

skates - only ever worn bauer, but that is because they fit me well. I would certainly try other brands, but I'm sure that if i had two skates that fit equally well and one was bauer, I'd probably stay with it.

gloves - no loyalty, but brand preferences. I've always liked easton, eagle, and ccm, but always keep my mind open. I find most brands gloves to be ugly.

stick - I've mostly used easton, but not intentionally. For a long time they were the only ones making the kind of stick I wanted. That might not be true now. I just bought a warrior stick and have been thinking of trying some bauer sticks.

protective - all over the map. I'll wear whatever feels good, looks good, does the job. the one exception might be pants (always had tackla), but I'd consider others if they met my criteria. I assumed I'd always wear a CCM helmet, but when my last one became too nasty to wear anymore I tried on a reebok. It was so much more comfortable, so I bought it. I tend to like jofa shins and elbo pads, but wouldn't avoid other brands.

another note ... price almost never enters into any equipment choices. if you buy quality gear, it can last years, so who cares what it costs.

i'm in love with NBH/BNH stuff just because i'm a fanboy

the only reason i'm using my non-bnh stuff is because my rbk was a free gift, i just love my easton smu shoulder pads I don't know why.., and tackla makes great pants. In the future I probably will make the switch to the XX Lite or the XXX Lite pant and switch up the rbk with a 4500 after it dies. Never going for nbh/bnh for shoulder pads though
