Dolomite Smyth Blade

Recommended Posts

I have not found a website. I have been looking at getting one too. I'm just going to order one through my LHS. You can look up on their site if there are suppliars near you or not. If there are, that's not a bad way to go, though it's a few more bucks at the shop I go to. The dealer locator link is at the bottom of the warriorhockey.com front page.

can't remember where I saw the federov. I will look around and post if I can find it again. Thanks. My LHS that carries Warrior said that it will be a while before they will get in any Warrior blades. They just got the Dolomite OPS this week and hope to get the shafts next week.

The pro shop at the rink I am at in NJ has some Smyth Dolomite blades.

I believe they are $55.

what's the name and contact info of the proshop? Think they would be willing to ship them to Oregon?

I guess I don't understand the player's name on a curve thing... why are the retails usually/sometimes different than the pro-stock curves (in general)? Ryan Smyth uses wood blades and curves them himself, or should I say takes almost all the curve out of his blade with the torch. They are practically a straight stick.

What's his retail curve like? Why do they call it a Smyth curve if he really doesn't have any curve at all? I know it's marketing, but you'd think that a retail curve should be fairly close to the players curve?

no?

Lots of funny stories about Smyth and his blades. He's a lot pickier than you may think. He has changed patterns dozens of times, would you expect the retail curve to constantly change to mirror his new choices? Personally, I like the NBH PXX numbering. It makes more sense than changing the name every couple years.

NBH Winds up changing the names on the curves anyway (but retaining letter-number codes). Easton has started doing the letter number code thing too.

I think it all comes down to the "hey Ryan Smyth is a good player so if I get something that he uses (AK27) with his name on it, I'll be good too"

I know that when I was a kid, I chose curves based on the name on the hosel. That and I got the biggest hook I could find. (I've outgrown that, thankfully)

What gets confusing and annoying is when a player changes sponsorship and the curve with his name on it is different from one manufacturer to another. (Heatley was a Bauer P106 heel, now an Easton Mid. Gaborik was a Modano clone for mission, then replaced easton's Yzerman, I believe. Hell, Mission's Modo clone has changed names 3 times- from Gaborik to Elias and now to Boyes.)

Specs from the Warrior web site.

http://www.warriorhockey.com/WarriorHockey.html

9/16"/14mm toe curve, Lie 4, rounded toe, closed face.

Never seen one, but sounds like something I'd like to try.

warrior's lies are "off". For example, they advertise the fedorov as a 4 lie, but it's more like a 4.5. Very close to the lie on my Forsberg (5 lie) , just a hint more blade past the midpoint.

i've used my smyth curve like 3-4 times now. i'm pretty much loving it. lower lie than my sakic & more of a toe curve. i probably should've just gotten a cheap mission tapered shaft than dropping another $100 on the warrior though.
