Easton Helmet

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't bite just yet. Lots of the people getting them are saying they're very narrow and run a good half to full size smaller than some others.

This is S9, take that information how you will.

The helmet is very narrow compared to other helmets I hvae tried. I have been wearing a large RBK 6k at about its smallest settings and the easton size large also had to be put to almost the biggest settings to fit my head. So unless they make an extra large, all you big headed guys should stay away from this helmet. In the end I got both cages to fit on to the helmet but for the cages to fit into the J-clips you have to push really hard on the top part of the cage to get them in. Something I didn't like about the helmet was the way to adjust the size, you have to lift up the interieur padding each time you want to do it. The ccm 480 cage looks really goofy and way to big with the helmet, but the 8500 doesnt look to bad. I try and post some pics.

Do any of you know what this looks like with a cage? I've wanted one for so long and am ready top pre-order one. Do any of you know what it looks like with a cage?

the pics from greatskate look a little strange, were the s9's that shipped out with the easton toy drive pro specs? The helmet just looks a lot different in my hands from that picture

as for fit, I currently wear a large rbk 8k and this helmet barely fits me. It's a little snug but I can just pull it off. Waiting for a new shield in the mail, will post pics when it comes in

I believe they were pro-spec, but how that differs from retail I have no idea. I don't see any difference, myself. Different earloops, maybe.

I was wondering if the helmets were pro-spec and what were the differences and what not... well I just found out

mine is sitting in my room waiting for my new oakley small straight to come in the mail and I noticed someone here was asking what the helmet looks like with a cage on it. I decided I'd throw on my old jofa bubble and see how that beast looks on this bucket. Snapped some shots and what not and then I realized on kind of important thing (at least w the pro spec helmet)

there isn't a single snap on the helmet to attach a cage strap to. kind of makes sense considering cages are only worn in the nhl if an injury occurs

here are the pics...

Need better interior lighting! The helmet gets washed out in the background so quickly!

Old school with new school.

Anything special about the Easton cages (obviously not for people who have the bucket and not the cage)? NBH has truvision with oval bars, THC has the Jofa 480/bubble, Itech has their fantom and Ti.

yeah... good point on the lighting, although the back end of the helmet is pretty standard. Nothing really happening there...

I've actually been to rink that wouldn't let me on the ice with a shield on, they claimed insurance reasons... so I'll have to carry a couple of buckets considering I needed to tuck the cage strap into my head for photo purposes

I actually liked the bubble on this helmet, def a nice mix between old and new

Yes, but aren't the removed almost immediately once the player gets his helmet?

I noticed that Jussi Jokinen was wearing his 4500 with the ear pieces in. Guess some pros keep the ear pieces. I always thought they all took them out so they could hear better.

Between my playing helmet with the ears in and my ref without them, I really don't notice a difference in hearing.

I like being able to grab a helmet with my thumb in the ear hole, fingers wrapped around the top to remove it though.

same here...maybe i can feel my ears "breathe" more (if that makes any sense)...like more room...but i did also notice that i hear the wind a LOT more...

if i wear a cage, i wear the ear pieces, but if i wear a half shield or just the bucket, i don't wear them...not a big difference here...i wear it cause of USA Hockey and HS Hockey.

Love the old 270 Jofa cage there...

I wonder how well the Easton lid stacks up against the Intake (which I have and like quite a bit).

I find the fit to be similar. I just tossed a visor on the Easton today and in the quick wearing for sizing, it feels good, better than the Intake did at first. The foam seems to mold to your head faster, alleviating the initial head pinching that I got from the Intake. It went away after a couple of games in the Intake but I already don't feel it with the Pro S9.

One more benefit of VN over EPP. ;)
