Bauer Supreme skate sizing

Recommended Posts

For my last pair of Supreme 7000s, I was in 8.5. At my LHS last week, he put me in 7.5 Supreme 70s. They felt pretty good in the store but I'm concerned that I'll have a different experience when I hit the ice and I hate going through the whole punching/baking/re-sizing hassle. They feel very snug.

My street size is just a little over 10. Anyone with my size feet wearing Supremes? If so, what size are you in?

Also, what am I getting in the Supreme 70 over the 50? 50 is a lot cheaper.

You're getting a better liner and tongue and a lighter boot. The 50s come with Custom+ holders, whereas the 70s come with LS2Ps.

Maybe your 8.5s were too big, but a half size down is expected.

Take out the footbed, stand on it and see where your toes are. Then you will know exactly what is happening with length inside the skate.

Is it normal for someone to have a regular shoe size of 10 to be wearing Supreme 70's in 7.5D? I thought for NBH the skates were 1.5 sizes lower than your shoe size. The reason i ask is because like sk8goat, i'm a size 10 and i got sized at a LHS for supreme 70's as well. The guy gave me 8.5D, and told me to move my foot to the end of boot so my toes touch the cap. He then checked for about a finger's width gap between my heel and the skate heel. At limit, i think i could have squeezed into a 8.0D with toes right up on the toe cap, but 7.5D seems excessively tight, no?

I've been having the same issue when sizing kids. If the Bauer scale says 8.5, they've been fitting into a size 9. Not sure why, but that's how it's been working this season.

That being said, you're probably fine.

I am in the lower end (supreme 30's)

My street shoe is an 11.5, and I have size 10, they fit good. Unless they start making them in 3/4 sizes, I will be a 10, 9.5 is too small for me, 10 is good, width, and comfort wise, but after baking and skating, my toes don't touch the end now.

But my foot isn't slipping or anything and I couldnt' be happier with the skate itself

First time I went in, I came out with a 7D. I wear a sz 9.5-10 shoes, 7D actually fits perfectly on me with the my toes just feathering the cap. I use the supreme 70.

I don't wear those skates, but I wouldn't see that as being strange based on trying on Bauer skates in the past. I take a 10 dress shoe. I tried on 8EE Vapor XXs a few months back and my toes feathered the end - they were snug, but not painful. The Bauer site says the One90s fit about a half size smaller than the Vapor series so that would lead me to believe that a 7.5 would be about right for me - not sure about the width.

My old 7000s were a 10.5 but my One90s are a 10. I tried a 10.5 but there was still a little room in the skate. The 10 fit perfectly.

What is your "perfect" fit? Do you like a snug fit?

Not uncomfortable tight but no room in the toes at all with my heels all the way back.

Well after all that, I ended up buying Missions. The Fuel 110AG was light like the Supreme but seemed to have a better fitting heel section and a snugger fit, width wise. I found the D Supremes too narrow and the EE Supremes a bit too wide. At least on me.

We'll see how this works out. I may come running back to the Bauer world. I almost feel like I'm cheating after 20 years wearing Bauer.

Thanks for all the advice.

The topic of "shoe size" has been brought up before. It's your dress shoe size not your athletic shoe size. Is your "12" your athletic shoe ? There is no physical way you can wear an 12 dress shoe and cram your foot in a 9D XXX.

Not so sure about that. That's 3 sizes different. I fit into a skate that was 2.5 sizes smaller than my dress shoe size. And I'm sure I could've jammed into a half size smaller.

I don't really understand why skate size should be so screwy. Why not just conform to street shoe sizing? Or better yet, use mondo sizing. It is so much more accurate. You measure your foot in centimeters and that's the mondo size. Makes too much sense I guess.

Maybe on the One70/90s with the last and new design that might be the case but for most traditional skates that's impossible. I wear an 11 dress and a 9D in XXX and my toe feathers the end--and that's 1/2 size more than Bauer's recommendation of 1.5 sizes down. I've worn a 9D Bauer for 20 years since high school.

Why not I wear a nine dress shoe and a 6 9K?

Remember that people wear their shoes comfortably.  Skates are supposed to be a snug fit.

Not only I remember that but I also wear skates that are snug and no pressure points. Trying to figure out what the proper size in One 90s for me will be.

What's ironic a dealer here in Ukraine tried to argue with me that you should go with same size in skate like your sneaker size. He is getting himself 9,5D in Bauer Supreme 8090 for sneaker size 9,5D. And he does not have a fat foot. Won't listen to me. Too bad his skates that won't fit him are gonna run him $450 here.

After a "real" fitting and some great recommendations here from OTG I got set up with some Suprememe 50's (w/superfeet grey footbeds). All this time I was a 9.5EE! Goes to show what a competent shop can do for you.
