lee92 2 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 i dunno if theres any brands out there that i hate, but i'm not too fond of hespeler, koho, ccm gloves, and mission. i had a run in with my old mission amp 7's back in the day with their old holders n i found the holder to be too short becuz whenever i'd turn, the sides of my boots would scrape the ice and i'd end up wiping out. i know they've changed the holders now a days, but i'm still skeptical of them. my brother loves his pure lites but i just can't see myself going back to their skates, although their boot was some nice n comfy. Justin 1933 134 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 Keith,Welcome...Fun topic???As for old grudges, I think that is Mission's biggest challenge in Ice Hockey. We had so much steel breakage 3-4 years ago, that people still think it occurs....When in reality, we now have the strongest steel out...(and it comes with a lifetime warrranty)...Most of the time our company has had a screw up, it has made our future products better.... Chadd 916 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 Justin, excellent point. I may hold a grudge on some other products but I'm willing to look again should that company improve the quality.
thejackal 46 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 Easton stuff is way overpriced IMO. Other than that I don't really hate any particular company. CCM makes great mid-range and lower end stuff value-wise. The Tacks 552s have been good to me and the quality wasn't bad either.
J-Shera 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 I really dont like CCM protective stuff, I use to use it but i cant stand it now. I also will not buy an easton blade. Just yesterday I figured Id give an Easton Synthesis Hybrid blade a try in one of my sticks and the dam thing wont fit. I swear I could of bought a Standard blade and had to of shave that down less then a sanded The hybrid blade. And the thing is I had a Synthesis Hybrid blade in that shaft along time ago so I know that they should fit just that easton cant make a consitent blade. kosydar 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 Damn, how can you guys say Hespeler? I love their stuff, always have. I was pretty bummed when I thought they were going under last year, but now I'm glad that they're coming back in full force. I used to not ever want anything Mission because I didn't think of it as "real hockey" equipment, but their last two line ups have certainly changed my mind fast. troy 12 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 the brand i don't like is CCM, their skates have never fit me right, and i find their protective gear to be lacking in mobility and fit. otherwise, if i find something i like i'll try it regardless of brand name. kosydar 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2004 Big guys? Haha, Gretz wore their stuff. Bunch of the Wings from the 97 and 98 Cup teams wore their stuff, too. But you're right about their advertisement, thats basically what it comes down to.

Whip 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Hespeler is a really good brand but its true how they suffer from lack advertising but they dont focus much on the cosmetics either and their name is not every attractive, the younger players want gear that look and sound cool. What would be cooler Hespeler or Bauer and their fancy X series. Personally I see hespeler as a cheap alternative to Inno like sticks and their glove desgin is bascily like the Eagle Cp94 and so far I really like their gloves, the F3 is a crazy glove: good ventatlation soft palms and their older models like the RTX and Fat Cuffs have this nice palm material I really like.I dont like Easton since they dont take much time and effort into making their low end shafts better, I understand that their 1st priority would be to perfect their OPS and Tapered stuff but atleast put a lil quality into the cheaper shafts like the Octane its so heavy and boxy... I guess for hockey gear its you get what you paid for.Mission is getting a lot of good comments on their stuff like the L-2 and M-1 gloves.
tyler33 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I wont use anything ccm, or nike. I used to not use anything bauer but are team gets stuff cheap from them and after I used some of there stuff, it aint that bad.
NashvillePreds 1 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Not really anything, as long as it is quality and doesn't cost up the wazoo, I'll consider taking it.

Hey Murph sine you are from Hespeler do you mind telling me what kind of palm material you used on the "Fat Cuff" gloves.
Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I'm not really against any company, but I tend to dislike Bauer. I love their helmets, but after that everything seems to be subpar for my expectations.
polk 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I'm not big on easton especially their gloves. I'm not much fan of bauer anymore either.
thunderbirds_are_go 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I haven't found a brand that I wouldn't buy because it was from that brand. I've seen gear that I just don't like, but every brand seems to have some gear worth looking at. I find it odd that so many people are against the CCM gear, I quite like a lot of it. The 2003 852 shins and elbows I find very comfortable (use them for inline). I like the elbows better than my Jofa 8066 elbows actually. And I love my Vector Pro's and Externo Maverick skates. kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Ryan, what about the Mylec helmets? Those things were great :D Im not a big fan of CCM. I've used their stuff a long time ago, back when i didnt care about my equipment :D ya lol ppl here have them, they are sooo ugly and im like, how can those protect their heads? JR Boucicaut 3801 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I seriously wore one when I played RH, back when I was 14 to 17.
mik3 1 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I've always assumed the mylec helmet would do more harm than help if you actually needed it to protect you. Couldn't have been much better than the gretzky helmet I used for a little bit after I turned 18 though.
PH_Hockey2 4 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I always used to be against mission products but there M1 gloves are very nice when I tried them on. The M1's are high on my new glove list.
Perry94 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 man...Hespeler's the best brand! I used to have that Red & White wooden stick in Maccarty pattern...those things are the best. Too bad they don't make those anymore. Right now I use an Easton Cyclone, and it still doesn't perform as well as that wood (not badmouthing easton)I've used bauer ice skates before, and they were okay until I grew out of them. I won't go near nike skates, but their stick looks so pretty! I might get one.Mission skates are pretty good, but I only own the Mission R, so what do i know.Like: Hespeler, MissonSo-So: Easton, Bauer, NikeDislike: CCM (my brother has old school CCM skates, he used them once)
