Those are two fanstastic trades, especially since a lot of people thought the Chargers were crazy for trading Vick and Manning.

People thought they were crazy for trading Manning? He said he didn't want to play there.

The Chargers were crazy for drafting him and the Giants were crazy for giving up so much to get him.

well I'm eating some crow on the AFC, but my NFC was right on.

So now we get left with:

Saints in Chicago

New England in Indy

After seeing the games this weekend, I'm not sure Chicago can stop the Saints even at home. I see the Saints going on to the big show unless the Bears can really step it up.

On the other side, Brady is a playoff mutant and I truly believe Peyton Manning is heading for Marinoville; all records, no rings. Brady will probably live up to his playoff stardom that has kept NE a force the last few years.

Pats vs Saints for the big show

I am feeling a 1986 rematch of NE vs the Bears.

No Dent or Fridge this time so ....

And wouldn't it be great (for Bears fans like me) if the outcome were they same. :)

I just can't argue against the Patriots, whether they face the Bears or the Saints.

I guess I misworded that.

I meant that many people had Manning as the consensus number 1, even though he had expressed he didn't want to play in SD. There were numerous articles suggesting the Chargers should call Eli's bluff, which they initially did on draft day. Half an hour later, they appeared to have capitulated to Manning by trading him, yet they ended up getting three more picks -- and a quarterback who may have been less known but just as skilled.

Just for the hell of it, I played Madden 07 for both Conf. games.

** NE beat Indy (60-44)

** Chi beat NO (56-53 in OT)

So, based on this highly scientific method, a rematch of '86 is in the cards.

** - I had control of the winning team in both games.

I'll play a "Superbowl" game after the teams are determined...and let you all know who will win.

(btw...I really need a life)

How in the hell did you get 56 pts with Chicago?

Well...I wasn't on the highest difficulty, so scoring was (fairly) simple. Muhammed got hurt midway through the first too...so I had Berrian as my deep threat...step back and heave it....Grossman finished with over 600 Yards passing, and the total "O" was 800+ yards. I left a TON of points on the field too...lots of FG's.

I've found the glitch(?) of being able to toss bombs at a sickening rate to be one of the many downfalls of '07.

Yeah...I suppose. It makes for a less realistic but more fun game experience.

I know 60-44 doesn't looks like a great defensive performance...but I picked off Peyton 8 times in that game *L*

I'm sure if I bump up the game difficulty that wouldn't happen...but really...what fun would that be?

No, it'll still happen. I'm on All-Madden and with New England (and me at QB no less) I beat Buffalo in a shoot-out 63-59.

In the run-and-gun AFC East...that's TOTALLY realistic *L*

(Bills fan...sorry!)

the pats killed themselves with 2 penalties at crucial times. it would have been amazing if brady had led the pats down the field in the last minute.

i think that the bears will win the super bowl.

Great game by Manning. I"ve never felt the Pats have "owned" Manning in the past, because he's too good of a QB.

Two plays stand out, one of which I'd file under, "Champions don't make those types of plays," while the second gives me sour grapes.

The play of the game may have been the too many men in the huddle, because IF the next two plays would have netted the same yards as the first two when it was 1st and 15, then it would have been a first down. The best the Colts would have been able to do is get the ball back on the other side of the two minute warning without timeouts. They still could have scored, but it likely would have been a field goal and overtime.

The play that makes me sour grapes bitter, however, was the non-interference call in the back right of the end zone in the fourth quarter. The ball appeared to be catchable, and there's no doubt the DB shoved Caldwell (who had a bad game, by the way) at least twice. If the interference is called, then it's first and goal at the one -- and we'd probably be looking at OT again.

I have no idea how that wasn't called. But I admit I'm bitter. :D
