Craziest and Meanest Player You Ever Played Against

Recommended Posts

In spirit with the best player you ever played with or against, I would like to know about the craziest, meanest SOB you ever played against. I'm talking about somebody who didn't care Jack about you and your body. You were fresh flesh for him to kill.

I used to play against these guys who were a version of the Hanson Brothers. They were a tribe of brothers from Highland Falls, NY. They could kill you on the ice and the scoreboard. They could all play the game and were virtually unstoppable from scoring. One brother, Tom, would lead the team in scoring and penalty minutes. This guy was just f'n crazy on ice. I have seen him shoot pucks at guys who poke-checked him the play before, grab a guy's stick and throw it out of the rink, and throw an elbow in your gut when you weren't looking. Besides playing in Mens' League teams with him, I also used to play open hockey against him. After getting mauled, I took a new approach. I would bring multiple color jerseys to the rink. Then I would find out which team Tom was on and wear the same color. hey, I wanted to get home in one piece. This nut would take slapshots from 15' out on the goalie. He would score about 15 goals in open hockey never giving a damn if the goalie was any good or not. In mens league, the other teams would touch him, he would go crazy and slash somebody and spend half the game in the box. He lead his college team in the 70s in scoring and penalties. He moved to Florida about 10 years ago. Once in a while he heads north to see his family and plays with us on Friday night. He is over 50 now and the last time I played against him he still threw an elbow at me and tripped me in center ice after I poke-checked him clean on a 1-on-1. And, of course, off the ice he is the nicest guy! Go figure.

So, anybody play against some nuts??

I remember being in a tournament, I was roughly 11 years old, we played a team from Detroit. It was a summer team and we had kids from all over, we were good, but not great. This Detroit team was all a year younger than us, played in their age group and ours. Their coach was a former Olympic weight lifter, rumour had it he helped Lindros train, and was somehow related to Boyd Deveraux. I'm not sure how many of those rumblings were true, but the coach was crazy and screamed the entire game. With about 4-5 minutes left, our team down 5-0, and having our asses thoroughly handed to us, their parents started chanting "make'em eat Sherwood" and it got real crazy, real quick.

Craziest person I ever played against would have to this chick from just outside Detroit. She two-handed chopped me in the head right after I cleanly won the puck away from her. The refs saw it and tossed her in the box for 2. She started yelling at them while in the box...they warned her to behave...she didn’t. They ended up kicking her out of the game. As if it was just yesterday, I can remember her bawling her eyes out and screaming at the refs that they couldn't kick her out because her boyfriend came to watch her play.

Hmmm I wonder if they are still together.

Billy Tibbetts. Played with and against over the years before he played in the big show. Gave me a nice elbow to the head once in a summer league.

Craziest guy for me was Bo in pickup. Huge kid that could kick the crap out of anyone. One time he got into a fight with a set of brothers. He was kicking the crap out of one guy on the ice while the other was giving him a choke hold from the back. Once he was done with the one brother he turned around and kicked the crap out of the other :)

I use to tell guys to leave him alone as he wrestled bulls. No one listened. LOL

The good news is we got along very well. One time a bigger guy, hell thats almost everyone, was taking liberties on me so Bo took care of things. Quote from Bo to other hockey player ... "I see you like picking on smaller guys ... I do too!" Whap!!!

Played occasionally with a guy who was so intense he kept comparing hockey to war. "You either win or get blown up" were his exact words. The guy was not a great player by any means but was going all out all the time and these were informal games. I've never seen a guy take so many self inflicted shots into the boards due to his lack of skating ability and he kept getting up for more, almost like he enjoyed the pain. He took liberities with his stick at times but no one was gonna fight him as crazy as he was.

We play with a guy that smashes his helmeted forehead with the shaft of his stick 2 or 3 times every time he makes a bad play, cursing himself. Bad pass? Smash da head! Shot goes wide? Smash da head! Then, when he scores or make a nice play, its like he scored the game winner in Game 7 of the cup finals. If they win, he lines up and shakes, gloating the whole time. If they lose, he splits for the locker room.

I play with a group that rents out the rink every friday night, and although they're all older guys now, I've heard quite a few good stories from before I started playing with them. The guy who organizes the skate is a goalie, and he's been known to attack his own defensemen for playing shitty and then talking smack to him. Another guy, a defenseman, used to throw the hip like nobody else, and would go after anyone, regardless of who they were. Once they all put in a team together in a local beer league it quieted down.

One of my really good friends is just insane. He once crosschecked a guy in the back of the neck and flipped him over the boards about 3 feet away from the ref. (retaliation for a cheap shot) Luckily for him, the ref was explaining a penalty to the scorekeeper and missed it.

Anyone whos played Open Hockey with this guy can confirm this with me. Guys name is Dave aka Crazy Dave to the guys who play with him. Hes not the best skater but man if you get him pissed off hes gonna be the fastest guy out there. He will 2hand little kids put you on your ass in front of the net and full on grab you off the ice if your not backchecking. Plus all these god damn stories hes got about how he was good friends with chellios and drank with him in the upstairs, the upstairs is a bar above a local rink, and about how he played with all them and should have made it to the show. Guy is so nuts he runs his mouth to litlle kids and then will take em out. One time he put my buddy over the boards for holding onto the puck to long. Long story short is no matter what side your on with him on the ice your screwed.

I´m happy to have played with as well as against this guy

Profile

He couldn´t skate he is/was overwieght he drinks beer like water...

but he has/had a scoring touch... have a look at his stats

Anywhere he was he was nr.1 His profile at eurohockey is not complete, he played at least for 10 additional teams not listed.

He played almost every game drunken (not a joke) and these teams were no beer leagues. His stick was longer as himself wearing skates. As already said he couldn´t skate but he had golden hands and he could kill someone by his slapshot.

I think you can find him in the Hall of Fame, too because he holds several minor league scoring records.

He has a nice character and owns/owned a cat. There are so many rumors and stories about him it´s unbelievable.

I think this player is more interesting than Wayne Greztky or Sidney Crosby

Both player are boring comparing them to him.....

I've got nothing compare to most of you guys, but anyway...

One guy I played against crosschecked me in the face so hard, I thought my spine was going to snap. Everytime I went into the boards/corners with him, he'd punch me in the face too. He was a friend of mine.

His justification: On the ice, my fists don't know names.

In college, we had two lacrosse players join our team midway through our season. In their first game, they got enough disqualifications (including one for kicking a girl) that our team got put on league probation. I still play against one of those guys in non-check men's league (he insists the other guy was the girl-kicker), and he still plays like it's checking. He's constantly trying to skate through me like I'm not there, and if you skate within a 3-foot radius of him, he'll stiffen up his shoulders and elbows.

edit:

I forgot to include my brother. In lacrosse, he'd make it his purpose to constantly spear players in the ribs (away from the play) while taunting them ad nauseum, "Come on, you ******! What are you gonna do, ******? You ain't gonna do nuthin', ******!" (****** being a derogatory term for a homosexual.) Then when the guy would be about to retaliate, he'd scream to get the ref's attention. And as soon as the ref was diverted again, he'd start all over.

One of the meanest I have played against was two years ago. It would have been my first year Bantam and we are at a tournament. When I stepped on the ice there was a guy on the other team who had to be atleast 6'3. Anyways first case was he Skated from are end of the ice full speed to there own end where we had the puck. He lined up are player and hit him through the glass. Remember this is Bantam I have never seen this happen before. He didn't get the box or anything even though it was an obvious charge. Next case was I walked in from the blue line and took a shot from the top of the circle and followed my rebound and just stoped in front of the goalie. Out of no where I get a punch in the back of the head and get jumped on from behind. It took 3 players and a ref to get him off of me. Funny part is we got boxed. There probly has been meaner but thats all I remember.

I play in a high school aaaa league and we have this one guy named tom on our team who has a serious anger problem. When he gets mad, it's utterly impossible to reason with him. You could offer his a million dollars if he calms down and he would forget it the second it passed through his ears lol.

Just last night his mom walked by some of the opposing teams fans and they started catcalling her. Apparently Tom saw it so from our bench he went ballistic and started screaming and swearing so the ref made him serve his 10 minute misconduct in the dressing room.

Also in an out of down tourny that we just had, between periods for some reason he started yelling about not being able to "buy a peach drink after the game", he was talking about those ones you get at Tim Horton's. The caoch started saying something like "just think about the game tom" and he just started swearing about someone stealing his money and then he tried to strangle one of our teammates. The coach took him outside and he punched the door and broke his hand.

Anyway lol to many retarded things this kid does to tell you all of them but i geuss needless to say, he's a nut. oh ya P.S. his dad is the excact same way except 6'4" and 300 pounds of literally pure muscle

Craziest person would be a guy on my team. If anyone on other teams had a guy who would act crazy he'd usually end up getting hurt from the guy on my team.

Umm well he'd just end there lives by hitting them. Nothing dirty really unless he gets mad. I wouldn't say he's that crazy but more mean. I can't even remember how many times he's done that. I would absolutley hate and would terrified to be playing against him.

I've only really played against two.

The first one was a girl who had about 6 inches on ANYONE on our team. The first thing she did was she promptly skated over to our SMALLEST girl and crosschecked her into the boards.

I took exception and told her that if she wanted to mess with players, mess with the ones who could take it. Meaning me and #6 on our team.

Well she was playing defense and I asked if I could play forward for ONE shift. I skated over, got infront of her and started wrecking havoc. She crosschecked me, I'd come right back. She did this twice before she got caught. She started mouthing and beaking the whole way to the box where I skating by. I turned to her and asked her if she was really that stupid to keep going seeing as she'd been warned about her langauge. She then slashed me across the back of the legs and kept taunting me. Once she was in the box, I scored on the PP and when I skated by to celebrate with my bench she goes "Watch your back #14!". Next shift she drove my head into the ice with my cage.

I got up, adjusted my helmet and grinned as she got escorted off the ice and was given a 5 game suspension. :D

Then the next one is a guy. I play on a guys team (there's 2 girls) and his whole goal is to prove to us that we shouldn't be playing with them. My linemate, Michelle, scored on a two on one and he went and checked her as she was circling the net after the puck went in.

Then I was along the boards with the puck, making a cross ice pass. The puck was gone for at LEAST ten seconds, seeing as I had already moved, and he came BARRLING in with an elbow. Because I'm shorter than him (I'm 5'9, he's at LEAST 6'2), I got an elbow in the earhole. Was knocked out.

Next game I was standing in front of the net, got a deflection and turned for the rebound and WHAM, stick to the face. Ended up just falling back on my ass, but our captain was (and is) still livid. He takes cheap shots when he can.

Michelle and I don't moan because we know we'll get told to go back and play girl's hockey. The guy is chippy to the other guys, but he's down right mean to us.

That being said, I made him take a double minor and a game misconduct last game. Didn't seem to handle it nearly as well. B)
