Response Lite

Recommended Posts

Looking at a response lite on e-bay. Haven't heard anything about this stick. I had a Response XN10 a couple years ago and loved it. Is it just am improved version. The curve is walker. I used Nash before. Are they a similar curve? Is the response lite more durable than the old XN10? JR?

I think the response lite actually weighs in at more than a XN10 (I want to say 430-440 grams?).

I think it's code name is the R8, and since the original marigold sticks were the C8, I presume they're using the same molds or something just with a lighter composit mix (think the originals were 460).

Hockey Giant had some on their site a while back - probably get more info there or on the Louisville marketing slick that is likely hyperlinked somewhere on this sight for their 2007 line.

Based on the spec, I honestly think it's the same stick but with a longer taper. The spec calls for 100% carbon, which the XN10 was. The R6 calls for carbon and "Armor" wrap which is Kevlar.

No

Making the taper longer by making the hosel longer is an interesting way to go about it.

Weight is less than the Adrenaline and the blade is much improved over the XN10's in terms of feel.

Exactly, because they took out the Kevlar again. I wonder what they did.

good to know, I wasn't sure whether the added weigh(compared to the xn10) was put into the blade making it blade heavy. Hows the shaft shape? Am I correct in assuming that it's concave?

Curve answer, no. Walker is Identical to the Morrow, just a Pro-Stock version Stick.

Stick answer, the Response light is a Pro Stock Model only so far, I saw one when I worked at Perani's in Ann Arbor, feels alot like the responses (texture) however weight is similiar to that of the Easton SL.

I've never seen a pro Walker with a square toe, they've always been YPs or minor variants.

My LHS has a few retail Response Lite R8's. The fact that TPS is now stamping pro stock on all of their gear is going to cause a lot of issues on here and on ebay for the mentally inept.

I found the prostock markings a little weird as well.

I like my Response Lite, it's got a decent feel to it, well balanced, I really like the grip as well. The release isn't as quick as the XN10, but I can almost feel a "loading" process with this stick. Shoots well, but not really "better" than any premium OPS. It's a nice stick if you are looking for a good stick with a nice feel. I've took more hacks and whacks then I expected with it so far and it's held up well. I find most TPS sticks to be durable though.

Thank god they introduced a YP clone for retail.

The Walkers I have are model #0289 which is a toned-down Drury, round toe, 5.5 lie. The ones eastwesthockey are selling (on ebay and their website) are a different curve pattern. Apprarently Walker changes his pattern a lot (according to the guy at TPS) but as Chadd says most likely it's some RP-like curve. Go to eastwesthockey.com and you can find a pretty good pic of the curve.
