regularjoe 1 Report post Posted May 26, 2007 So I finish my Saturday morning adult clinic and take the 30 minute drive back home from the rink (+30 minute detour for gas and post-clinic smoothie).I open up the trunk to get my gear bag out and the trunk is empty... I left all my stuff in the parking lot back at the rink.So I hop back in the car and burn rubber to get back b/c the rink might be closing early for the holiday weekend. Lucky for me, my bag is sitting right where I left it in the parking lot.Nothing really more to this. Just had to share my brainfart story so I can get ridiculed like I deserve.... TBLfan 25 Report post Posted May 26, 2007 don't beat yourself up over it, things happen. I was late for coaching a game and I happened to see on of my players walking up with his gear. I asked him if he was just showing up late because I was, he laughed and asked "You're kidding right?" Of course I was but I still let him know he was late, really late. It was the third period, he thought they played the late game. He felt horrible, but mistakes happen! On the same team we've had a couple people loose their helmet. Loose screws to their helmet. Forget they had skateguards on and hit the ice, literally. Personally, I have forgot my jerseys a couple times at home, my gloves once, my helmet once and my gatorade bottle three times in the past two years. I normally remember about 15 mins after I leave that i forgot something.
QandA 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2007 We took a bus for a 2 hour trip and a guy on our team forgot his whole bag in the back of his car and realized when we got to the arena!
Vapor 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2007 Well I did something kinda similar....I was goin to open hockey when I was like 16 or 17, I parked my car by the front door of the rink because I had some trash I wanted to throw out. I took out my hockey bag and the trash and then just went in the rink. I forgot to park the car so my car sat with its flashers on unlocked in a fire lane for 3 hours. On my way out of the rink I was like o wow thats a NICE car... o shit?

GSHL99 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2007 Beer league team I was on a couple seasons ago was just full of guys that couldn't remember their stuff. Finally the captain made it team policy that there would be no sharing of gear because someone forgot their sticks, helmet, gloves, or whatever so if you forgot something you couldn't play without you just didn't play. Solved that problem pretty quick.

JR Boucicaut 3801 Report post Posted May 26, 2007 "The Montreal Canadiens went to Leo Dandurand's home for a champagne party. The car carrying the Cup had tire blow out, and the car's occupants put it on the side of the road while they stopped for repairs. After the repair, they drove off without the Cup. They realized this when only when they arrived at their destination, and they immediately left to retrace their route to try to find the Cup. They found it a mile and a half away from Dandurand's home--exactly where they left it."
#13 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2007 A defender on my team forgot to tighten the bolts on his skates. One of his red wheels came off in front of our goal and our netminder dived to save the wheel. Meanwhile the other team hit the red puck we were playing with into the net! Luckily the reff had already blown his whistle so the goal didn't count. I made sure he always checked his bolts from then on though!
jmiro 55 Report post Posted May 26, 2007 one of by buddies forgot his cup during a beer league game. Decided he could play with out it. Then in the second period he decide to block a shot. Well lets just say he is minus one. They had to take him off on a strecher and ruch him to the er. He was a goalie in high school he should know better than any one the importance of a cup. sc37 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2007 I'm really anal so I hardly ever forget things..have a few time but luckily the rink is close to home. I hear of the forgettn cup many times...I never knew of anyone playing without one. It's always taking shirts and all sorta stuff and stuffing it into your pants! I'd still be leery of playing like that. My moment of stupidity was when my glove fell off and lost my stick too. Wound up behind the net on my butt and the puck practically fell into my lap. Had a brain fart and picked up the puck and chucked it out like a baseball. Dunno why I did that...

It was a good laugh as the ref called you for a delay of game if I recall. Handgranading the puck will cause that sometimes. ;)My luckiest moment had to when I forgot my cup for one of my JV games and one of my teammates (from other sports) since 4th grade told me not to worry about it. We were playing probably our biggest in-city rival. I got lucky and didn't get hit, but ironically the friend that suggested it did. I'm sure I've done something else stupid, maybe my mind being wired backwards so that I play as a defensive forward when I play up and as an offensive defender when I play back. When I play in net due to my size I play out real far and I try to play the puck often, so I guess I play almost like a stay-at-home defense when I'm in net. I've sought help, but as many know I'm a lost cause. :-D

Jarick 5 Report post Posted May 27, 2007 Haven't been playing too long, but a couple months back our pickup game got moved to a new arena I hadn't been to. So I load my car up and grab my dog to drop off with my parents, drop her off, and get to the arena 20 minutes early. Find the perfect spot right out in front of the arena, open up the door, no sticks. Left them in my garage. So I high tail it back to my place, grab the sticks, and get back in about as long as it would have taken me to drive one way. Hustle in there, I'm 20 minutes late now, run up to the arena, and it's a roller hockey game. I play ice.Turns out I read the wrong line and I ended up being 15 minutes early to the CORRECT game. Dodged a bullet there and had a good laugh. Until I realized I forgot to pack my cup.Last week I went to the wrong arena, tried to show up 30 minutes early, I was 5 minutes late when I got to the right place. It seems that whenever I try to get to the rink early I always forgot or screw up something and end up late.
Vapor 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2007 well while we are talking about throwing the puck....I was in a beer league game one time and we were playing a very dirty opponent. It was a rough game but we were dominating on the score sheet. I got knocked down in front of the net and the puck fell right onto my lap. The goalie didn't know where the puck was. I was being pushed and cross checked, so I was pissed... so I picked up the puck and threw it in like a baseball pitcher. The goal COUNTED! I guess the ref didn't see my VERY distinct throwing motion and the goal counted. The other team erupted in anger. But both refs said it counted. Go team. jeffw 1 Report post Posted May 27, 2007 Couple seasons ago me & my boy throw his goalie gear in the bed of my truck & head off to Virginia, a little over an hour away. We get there & I realize we never closed the tailgate. Both of his goal sticks are gone as well as my two Ultra-lites. Thank God nothing else fell out.A few months later we played in the Bantam A championship game at the same rink and our team captain forgot to load his gear in the car.
