1998 Easton Catalog BS- Before Synergy!

Recommended Posts

How close do you think those T-flex shafts where to the listed weight? 275g is impressive for a graphite shaft.

Very close. They weighed nothing.

The 1998 Easton lineup was the greatest of all time. I've been using my T-Flex's for years without problems.

1998 Z-Bubble will now be my 1998 T-Flex backup.

I'll still never get that. Other than Crosby it's an absolute jinx to get your name on a pattern before you're in the league.

Mario is about the only guy it ever worked out for. Lindros was a disaster for Titan and himself.

Be careful what you wish for. Stevie Y rockin' the Z-Air skates!! Fugly!!

The best of the 1998 Easton catalog. Due out "sometime in the spring."

A buddy of mine used to swear by the the Cyclone shafts. In one of the catalogs it indicates the Cyclone shaft is perfect for "women and elite teens". He's neither, and heard about it for quite some time.

I think they say that because of the rounded shaft shape of the Cyclone, which makes it seem smaller in your hands.

It doesn't just seem smaller, it actually is smaller. It flares out at the bottom so it can fit a regular blade, and if you lose the wooden butt end on the other side, it's really hard to track down another one that fits properly.

The boot was extrememly comfortable, but rhe steel was hard as hell. Also, you needed a special jig at the time, or you had to take the steel out to sharpen them. Now, as for those Ultra Lamis with a Ciccarelli curve, those were the shiz-nite. I still have mine, but am only holding onto it for nostalgia sake, since i wore the blade out years ago.

have that brown ultra lite in the basement brand new 110 flex...man i should try it

According to a lot of people, thats the nicest shaft ever made.

It may not be the best performance-wise, but it's durable as hell. I think me and my brother have serviced three of them and there's nary a scratch on them, all of them those brown ULs.

Gee, between those, the green bubble, and that old aluminum classic in my basement, I think I have a bunch of old sticks. I'm using a younger UL (can't remember what year, the first year they came in 85, I made a typo in the equipment thread) right now, as my backup.

i just snapped my last brown UL a few months ago. ridiculously durable. i have an Easton Convex and T-Flex shaft laying around. My brother still has some Grip Lites. good times.

HATED the UL Kevlar blade. Ugh.

The UG Zhamnov was it man.

God bless the search... I found an old Zhamnov UG in the basement recently. Long story short my buddy is using it and loves it. Anyone know if there is something currently being made that is very close? Even better is there any Zhamnov UG's still around...I know not likely.

Man this site rules!

Daniel Tkaczuk curve. Where is he now?

I remember he was in the same draft class as Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau. I'm too lazy to see what happened to him. He must have pulled a Jason Bonsignore.

Bonsignore was one of the guys on my team a few years ago. He was pretty quiet, kept to himself. Only played a few games and then moved on. I wonder what it was like to go through life knowing that you were a flop.

Did he get hurt or something after his stretch in the NHL? Those numbers are at least respectable, and then he just totally fell off the face of the earth.

Now, as for those Ultra Lamis with a Ciccarelli curve, those were the shiz-nite. I still have mine, but am only holding onto it for nostalgia sake, since i wore the blade out years ago.

I loved this stick for about a half a season, until I started having tons of trouble finding two that had remotely similar curves.

Edit: Oh, geez. My bad for bumping an old thread. I had a search going and another window open, and ended up thinking that this was the "current thread" window. Oops.

I loved me the hell out of the A/G 7000 but wow was that thing skinny. Slick too, but at that point was when I started spray painting shafts and it at least added some grip feeling to it.

yep, I had a z-core which was the same thing, felt like an intermediate how skinny they were but they were absolute tanks. I looked for the newer gen z-cores/AG for a while but never found one. I also have one of those 9800's in my basement, one of the last of the concave/convex grip, and that E-flex was one of my first comp shafts courstesy of wal-mart. I remember using that Lami woodie as well...memories

my current favourite stick is a z-core 6000 with the aluminum tip in a 105 flex. Picked it up on ebay last year, new for like $15. It was an estate sale, so I guess I'm using a dead guys stick.

that'd be the best 15bux I ever spent...what colour is it? I thought it went 6000=100flex=brown, 7000=105flex=black/red, 7100=110=black/blue..none the less I wish I still had mine, although I was 12 and it was 5" too short.

Depends on which model. There was a Z-Core that had an Ultra Lite graphite body, but an aluminum tip. I think that was 100 flex. Then the 7000 ended up going from red graphics to a red/brown combo and was at 100 I think after being at 105 for the longest time. If I can dig around I'll put up an un-blackened new 7100 I had, with the last graphics scheme they came out with.
