The patches on the Flames jersey seem like a last minute idea. Maybe they felt they needed to have something on the shoulders and thats the best they could come up with. The back view on the jersey is just nauseating.

A bit on the Flames flags from TSN.ca :

"It's for one year but we had to get permission from the federal government and the provincial government," explained Flames president Ken King. "The league permitted it for one year and we will have to seek permission to go forward beyond that.

"I think the flags are great," said Phaneuf. "It's good that we're wearing them on our shoulders wherever we play and we come from a great hockey province and a great hockey city that supports us."

While I agree that the flags are a bit out of place, I like the idea. It does kind of seem "elitist" of them to think that they alone should represent the province of alberta and also their entire nation. whatev.

You know, I *like* the jerseys... minus the piping that goes nowhere.. but overall it's pretty sharp to me.

However, put all together like that... wow.. what a designing mis-match. There's no flow in the whole uniform. To much start/stopping... terrible.

Those socks are truly putrid. Red pants would not be an improvement, because red pants suck. Getting rid of those stupid stripes on the sides of the pants, and the vertical armpit stripes in the armpits of the jersey (in other words making them basically the same uniforms they were before) would be the best thing they could do. The new uniforms are awful. Other than Boston, Dallas, and possibly Vancouver (not because the new ones are good, but because the old ones were even worse) none of these uniforms are improvements on the old ones. I don't know if the teams got to pick which of the 'six templates' they got to use (but I bet they didn't have a choice), but they are all truly awful other than the one Boston, Detroit, and Montreal have -- the one that looks like a hockey jersey.

The shell is miserable. Orange is clearly the featured color on both jerseys yet it seems the shell would be better suited for either the Penguins or Bruins. I've come to the realization that for many of the teams we've only seen the Jersey, which is only 50% of the disaster.

I only hope they haven't changed the traditional ranger piping on the pants. I would expect everyone to have some type of vertical striping this year, the question is how many will just be the same template in team colors?

Ditto the Habs. Since neither team has any striping under the arms in any of the Edge stuff we've seen...they should be safe.

Way too much going on in that Calgary ensemble. Stripes going every which way.

With regards to the black pants I remember when Calgary switched from red to black. The equipment managers were going crazy trying to keep the red pants clean.

I also read that Philly will have an orange alternate for next year.

But I agree so far the original "4" are the best. Let's hope the leafs and Hawks keep it simple.

i hate those socks. I am wishing they never had to change the jerseys they just remind me of slapshot 2 with the girlie jerseys and the gay instructor guy haha. Im just a young guy but i would consider myself as a traditionalist as i dont like big changes to jerseys escpecially the original six teams. just my 2 cents

The white jersey is nice but I hate the dark one. The white sleeves are just kinda there, no real point to it. I think the dark one looks bad..

my store is getting all the cdn team jerseys in the next few days. then there is the big launch date on the 21st or the 24th. cant wait!

they get sealed up until launch day, if any get sold before hand someones getting an asskicking.

To be honest, most of the new Edge jerseys are growing on me. I like the Panthers more and more. I think they look better on the players. Lets wait to see them on the ice, I think it's going to be better than what we think.
