Nike/Bauer ONE95/ONE75 Skates

Recommended Posts

I was at my LHS the other day and the one95's on the wall were my size so I decided to try them on. I just slipped them on, didn't tie them, and I had quite a bit of pain in the heel/ankle area where the foam is in the ankles. Did anyone else experience this? Would baking take away the pain in that area? Otherwise, I found them to be a great skate and very comfortable.

I felt the same thing right underneath the joint. One bake took it right away.

I finally got a chance to skate the other day on my One95's, and it was my first time skating in 16 months. I really don't think I will be able to get used to the 2.1 steel, so I think I am going to buy the regular LS 2 steel to replace it. Can anyone tell me how difficult that is to do? I remember with the C+ it used to be a bitch to get the bolt near the toe out and in, but when I looked at my One95's there isn't a cap in the toe, only in the heel so I am thinking it's different with the LS holders. Hopefully it's easier than the C+.

Anyone? I'd rather do it myself than have to pay and wait for a shop to do it.

Much easier than the C+

Just that one bolt in the rear, the bolt in the front was replaced with a piece that hooks into the holder.

What size are your holders?

Cool, good to know.

I have 288's (10D). I am playing this Saturday so I am going to go to Monkey and Giant today to see if either of them have them in stock. But I'll have to take them somewhere else to get them sharpened.

curious why - could you elaborate plz?

wouldn't profiling be an easier & cheaper option to changing steel? might be a very good case for going with 7'/12' combo or something :)

It just felt like I couldn't cut as sharply as I had been able to earlier....I am coming from Shift 1's, so who knows.

And I had a bad experience with profiling once so I don't think I'll ever be doing it again.

Profiling should solve that. Put a 10' radius on them.

Maybe....I just don't want to ruin the steel if I don't like it.

On a side note - I love Hockey Monkey. I called their retail store to see if they had any Lightspeed 2 non-perforated steel in a size 288. The kid I spoke to, who shall remain nameless -

A)Did not know what a holder is

B)Did not know what a runner is

C)Thought "Lightspeed" was a brand

D)Was still confused and asked me if the runner was "the strip of metal on the bottom of the plastic"

E)Put me on hold for 11 minutes while he went to go find out if they had them

F)Finally came back on the phone to tell me that they "only sell them with the plastic attached to them"

Not to mention he had an attitude with me on the phone, like I was inconveniencing him with such a ridiculous inquiry. It's reasons like this why I will never feel bad ordering online versus buying from Monkey or Giant. Their customer service is piss poor terrible.

Well, at least you don't have to go in there in witness the absurdity firsthand ;).

The other day I had one of their "kids" telling me that they wouldn't punch my One95's because it would break them and they'd be liable. I didn't want to argue with him about how he was wrong, so I was just going to go somewhere else if I needed them punched. Thankfully, I didn't need to have it done.

What a bunch of pricks. I really think I am going to avoid that place from now on. Giant isn't as bad, IMO....at least in the experiences I have had it hasn't been as bad. Unfortunately, Monkey has a better selection than Giant.

I ordered a pair of gloves from giant. ( ONE90s ) They were out of stock but called me the next day telling me they would be here within 2 weeks. Also I have had no issues with IW at all.

IW is great....never had a problem with them either.

Getting back on topic - anyone know how easy/hard it would be to replace the tongues on a One95? Can it be done and anyone know who can do it?

These skates are amazing. Im coming off major reconstructive surgery of my right foot and i have 17 screws going into the side of my heel. I was trying on some 9k's and they hurt like hell and i slipped these things on and they were perfect. The padding on the inside is very nice. I wore them in the shop for about 30 minutes and when i took them off, the inside of the boot was already shaped a little bit to my heel. I can only imagine what the heat fit will be like

Use a seam ripper and follow the holes already made in the plastic when it comes to sewing it back up.

I'm sure I'd find a way to mess that up.

Do you know if Fix it by Mail does it? I looked on their site but didn't see any mention of it...

I have both the XXXX and one95. They are roughly as stiff as eachother... but the depth allows for easier flex in the one95s. One of the benefits of a better fitting skate.

From what I understand..There is more depth/volume in a Vapor than the Supreme line

My ONE90 took about a week and a half to show up. And I think I figured out why HM shipping is obscene. The shipping weight of the identical stick from IW 2lbs., but from HM it was 3.70lbs.

How would a C ONE95 compare to a D XXX width-wise?

Also, any help with this?

Doesn't mean anything.

When sticks leave the shipper, it is an estimated weight. That is the weight they put on the label. Now - UPS reweighs everything and bills the shipper for the correct weight. 1.7lb isn't going to be a hike in price.
