east/west coast oppinions of warrior

Recommended Posts

everyone seems to have a different oppinion on warriors advertising controversy. i have noticed that all the issues seem to come from those residing on the east coast. i want to know what everyone thinks about this, is it an east coast thing or does everyone have a problem with it?

I have no problem with Warriors marketing decisions. And frankly, I don't really care. As long as they make hella good equipment, I'm always gonna be a fan (although I do dislike Al Iafrate. Bad choice IMO).

Why hate on Al? Have you even met him before? He's good people.

Oh, I'm sure he's a great person, no doubt. But I dunno, just never liked him as a player. Still think McInnis had a way better shot. :D

Tupac, very respectable i wonder where youre from. but uhhh top prospect you must be from "hella" northern california with that lingo.

Toronto, Scarbrough specifically.

As long as the product is good, I don't really care about their marketing campaign. Juvenile as it is, it doesn't really offend me. Start venturing into racist terms, aborted babies, etc... and then I'll think twice.

Aside - wasn't it Iafrate that said something along the lines of "Scoring into empty nets is for homos" or something to that effect? (or Lafontaine - I remember it was someone from the early 90's)

Look at Mack's sig...no way Pat LaFontaine says something like that.

DO i have a problem with it? no

Is it a bit off color? yes

they are appealing to their demographic, not much more. though warrior never really took off in my area, i live and work in the heart of easton country.

im from the west coast... of lake michigan

I don't think that East coast or West coast is really the question to ask on this. Perhaps age? Most of the older players seem to live under the tradition that hockey is family and as such, do not appreciate the questionable marketing that includes junior sticks.

By older, I do not mean gray and feeble :P

I thought the Inno product was over-rated and the popularity was partially due to the limited distribution. Boutique products always convey a status on those who use them.

That said, I think the Warrior marketing has been more about hyping the "lifestyle" than the product, much like under armor. I always question any company who chooses not to promote their product based on its merits or features, but rather on some arbitrary "cool-factor". That said, their marketing has been remarkably effective in getting their product name out there and this topic is a perfect example of that.

I guess I am three sided on this.

From the hockey standpoint. I love their dolomite. I don't care about their marketing when I am playing the game, I just know that its a good stick. When I am on the ice, I don't think about what stick I have or how "cool" it is.

From the company standpoint, I am biased to them because I dabbled a little in lacrosse. They are a big name there and make a quality product. I wouldn't mind making their profits for a week. I would probably make enough where I could live nicely for a few months.

Their advertisements/marketing isn't exactly up to my adult standards. I don't like their adverts and cant stand their website. Then again, I doubt that Warrior cares. They know exactly who they are marketing to and a 26 year old married house leaguer isn't one of them.

That's probably true, but the 1100 i had was my favorite standard shaft. kick wise i'd only put the r2xn10 ahead of it out of the sticks i have used. their RTM blades were/are the best, period.

i agree...

when warrior came back, i didn't care what they were going to do with advertising as i would buy it anyways since i loved my inno.

but now that they're around everywhere, it's getting dumb and annoying. but will i still use their products? yeah.

That seems to say it, especially with youth these days. There was a topic recently about 17 Rbk 9ko's breaking from one team. If one has the expensive shaft, they all must have it or atleast try it. And Warrior seems to trigger the youth perfectly with things like MacDaddy, Kronik, and Johnson, but yet they still seem to make a quality stick. Would you rather shoot with the "S17" or the "Kronik"(no offense to Easton in anyway as they make a great stick). They have captured the youth lifestyle as well as quality product wise on the ice...

I don't like the marketing campaign and I'm from the east coast, most notably, inside the Bible belt. Haha.

Seriously though, I'm just kinda turned off by things that I think are less classy. I don't curse or chew with my mouth open or cut in line. Things like that just bother me more than the next guy, so when I see what I think is a very juvenile marketing campaign that likes class IMO it turns me off a bit.

I'm 25 btw, just for demographics sake.

I'm 24, midwest, don't like excessively flashy or classless marketing crap. If I decide to buy Warrior, it will be because of it reputation for performance and durability on here, not because of any ads.
