Modano/Warrior

Recommended Posts

I just got my December issue of USA Hockey Magazine. I noticed on the back cover the Warrior advertisement with Mike Modano telling us to "Look closely."

As I opened the magazine and "looked closely" I saw Modano on page 4 with an RBK stick and continued to the last page (72) where Modano also has an RBK stick.

I'm trying to figure out what the deal is???

I can't wait for the next issue to see who Warrior will claim to have using their sticks.

Does anyone else think this is a bit fishy??

Nothing fishy going on. Modano Used to be with RBK, but as of late has went back to his Easton Gloves, and is now using Warrior sticks. As for the photos Inside the mag, RBK is a big sponsor for USA Hockey, and with Modano's previous endorsement, he probably had no quarrel with holding an RBK for those photo ops.

I didnt really get the hook on the add either. But I didnt get the add that Warrior did with the guys sitting on the bench and the other skater looking like he either threw or was wanting to be handed his stick.

It meant that they didn't want to give up their Warrior stick.

I love the "barbershop" ads on their website. I was one there looking for shaft shape description or pics and I couldn't make it past the shameless advertising and the videos of kids, girls and hicks talking about their sticks, specifically the 10 year old talking about how his Kronik gives him such a good shot, what with its "sick curve."

If it weren't for the fact that they're basically Inno sticks, Warrior would have fallen on their asses in hockey by now.

That ad was hillarious.. It's supposed to be a guy trying to get a guy to give him his stick, (his Warrior must've broke), and since everyone supposedly Love their Warriors so much, they're not wanting to give theirs up. Also, if you were observant enough, in the very First run of that add, it was a wider shot, and had a better view, but the Ref was wearing goalie skates. Made me chuckle.

And for ChiHawksFan, look again on Page 39. MM is using that warrior while scoring the breaking goal.

With photoshoots, often they just have some gear sitting around that they have the players hold, and even if it was his stuff, the pics could have been older. Just like the olympic portraits where everyone had the same pair of gloves and the same stick.

Was the point of the ad to show that 1+2+3+3=9?

Like the soda? Oh no, he may be a little fruity like the soda but I just meant because he's always come off as Louganis-y.

Now I got it. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Ads in OMHA magazine kids I coach just received....

"1233....Look closely and you'll understand why a statistic is more than just a number"

Don't get it....and kids are asking me :) as I was using Warrior.

Broke a Macdaddy in practise (ouch-past warranty)....few parents cringed, they bought kids stick coach uses for Xmas. What Pros use must really fuel sales if it actually matters to kids what stick their coach uses.

It's pretty funny how fickle the kids can be. Especially when the majority of them are spoiled. My kids mobbed me when I got my S17, and they were all saying how lucky I was. Maybe if my mommy and daddy bought it for me I would be lucky, but my bank account took a big hit from it :P

They aren't trying to land him; they have landed him. Stick deal is one thing...incentive to use the glove, and yes, they have made him gloves...just need to make some small tweaks.

...but Warrior is trying to land him - trying to make him a glove.

Glove debut after the new year maybe? I'd love to see what they made for Mo.

Bad comedians must love when you're in the audience.

I don't understand why it has to equal 9 but the whole "1233" thing is because Modano broke the record for career points by a US born player with 1233 goals.

*thanks ntwusc

Points, not goals.
